My friends and I were going to see the Lion King and decided to make a special evening out of it and go to a nice restaurant. We made a reservation for 5:30 so we would have ample time to eat relax and get to the show. Part of our party arrived promptly at 5:30. The staff was not ready for us and they had to wait for the tables to be arranged. The rest of our party arrived at 5:45 where the waiter informed us he ""was the only one working and he was really overwhelmed."" It took around 15 minutes just to get water on the table, another 20 for bread where he brought 5 roles for a party of 6. We had to wait another 10 minutes or more to flag him down to bring us more. The salads brought to us had a weak caesar dressing and mushy tomatoes and the person who ordered a garden salad was given iceberg lettuce with dried out veggies. at this point it's almost 7. We can leave no later than 7:30 to make our show and even that time is pushing it. We told our waiter we needed to make an 8 o'clock show and he informed us it would be 3 more minutes. So we order another bottle of wine, our waiter brings it out uncorked and leaves it on the table for another 15 minutes! We told him to take it back. At 7:25 we make the call to leave. There was a cupel behind us who arrived after us, ordered after us and got their food before us and left before us! One of us stayed to talk to the manager and take care of whatever we needed to. The person who at the time we thought was the manager, turned out she was the owner, gave us a short apology and an excuse that they had a funeral earlier that day. Then she asked us if we would pay a 1/3rd of the bill. In which we said NO! but we will pay for the wine we drank and even the salad. This was the first we saw anyone in a management position and we were in this place for 2 hours with no food. I have been in lesser establishments where mistakes were made and the management bent over backwards, with out us asking, to make it right. We were celebrating a 30th birthday, 2 people had never been to a broadway show before, one of our friends is pregnant and another hypoglycemic. We left hungry and angry that we had to pay for a crummy salad and service to match. Because we left so late we had to sprint to the theater to make it in time and made it with literally a minute to spare. I'm not sure what the food tastes like but we will never return to this restaurant. My friend called Sunday, Monday and Tuesday before she was able to talk to a manager (which is how we discovered the person we talked to on Saturday was the owner). She was told that the waiter was fired but to be honest he was only part of the problem. Anyone could have notice that we had been in the restaurant for a large amount of time with no entree, thats a management error. The waiter barley knew the menu, I have friends who are servers and if you don't know the menu you don't serve. That was a management error. If we had received some kind of offer to compensate the terrible evening I would be giving a different review.
