Blue Star breakfast every weekend 7/16/2006

The Blue Star is our family's favorite place for breakfast! We loved their original location "Eggs Cetera" in Madison Park & the one on Broadway (they must have been in business for over 30 years now). All their ingredients are homemade...hollandiase sauce, salsa, gorgonzola salad dressing, the list goes on! Bottom line - the food is consistantly good, portions are huge & the service is great. If you miss breakfast their sandwiches and salads are outstanding! more

Basic breakfasts galore 3/14/2006

The egg-based menu is extensive and they'll serve you waffles however you'd like them. Although no dishes are stand-outs for me, I've never eaten anything I truly disliked. (Ambivalent about, sure, but not dislike.) The potatoes aren't particularly exciting, but the coffee's not bad, the portions large and the bacon tasty (a nice blend of crispy and fatty). Basically if I get anything I'm not particularly enthused about, a side of bacon will cure me right up. Also if I get something I am enthused about, a side of bacon makes it even better. While Egg's Cetera isn't anything to write home about, it's easy. I've never waited more than 20 minutes, even on Sunday mornings. There isn't much in the way of atmosphere either (lots of wooden-bench booths, some open tables), but it's a step up from the neighborhood greasy spoon. more

Good, Kid-Friendly Cafe for Brunch, Lunch, or Dinner 1/17/2006

I've been to the Blue Star Cafe in Wallingford a couple of times and have enjoyed it for what it is. Good salads, sandwiches, and beer list. I'm a big fan of the cobb salad. Fresh ingredients and sizable portions. mmmmm bacon... more

Good breakfast 9/6/2005

Nice atmosphere and super friendly people here at Blue Star. Good beer and food, especially good for breakfast. Pop in when you're in the Wallingford/Fremont area and be sure try the really good omelettes with extra toast. Nice cozy place to have a good breakfast with friends on a Sunday morning. more

A big menu of American standards 7/15/2005

This is a nice space - the room is large and airy and there is plenty of seating. I find the food a little on the safe side and pretty unremarkable, but it's a good option when you need to please a bunch of sort of unadventurous eaters (e.g. this is where I take my midwestern family when they come to town). more

Excellent breakfast spot 7/7/2005

Whether dining solo or with a group, I highly recommend Blue Star, especially for their expansive breakfast menu (love their omelets and home style potatoes). Generous portions. Great lattes. The obvious downside is the wait you may to endure on a weekend morning, which definitely sucks when it's raining out. Also, the service seems to be comprised on busy weekends... more

Best Breakfast Spot! 7/7/2005

The Blue Star is a great breakfast spot, whether dining solo or with a group. The serve a wide range of foods, and their breakfast omlettes and home potatoes are EXCELLENT. Generous portions. The only downside is the wait you may have to endure, which can suck if it's raining out! On weekends it gets crowded which comprises the quality of service of bit. more
