I really don't know where to begin raving about how much I love this place. We had reservations for 7:00 and everything went perfect from the moment we walked in the door. There...

I went to Harvest Vine after hearing great things about it and was disappointed by the experience overall. I will say, the food was delicious, what little of it we received. We ...

Service disrespects excellent food 9/7/2005

We tried Harvest Vine on a Monday, hoping to catch the place when it wasn't busy. We scored a table in less than 5 minutes, but waited almost half an hour to place an order. Our order was simple--3 items. It took over an hour to get three items and in the meantime were not asked if we wanted a second drink or given any more water. We left the restaurant extremely disappointed. Pros: Good food, Ambience, Local restaurant Cons: Slowwww, No drink refills, Abandoned once seated more

Truly Great Basque Restaurant 7/27/2005

If you can't go to Spain, at least you can go to Harvest Vine. Sit at the copper topped dining bar and watch as they make your tapas right before your eyes. Try the venison, foie gras and baby chorizo. Even though it is not on the menu, ask for their paella but expect to wait around 30 minutes for it to be prepared. Try the beet salad and sauteed greens with garlic for some excellent veggie options. Desserts are made on the premises. Their house made ice cream is a must and a perfect ending to a meal at this cozy and fun gem of a restaurant. Pros: Tapas Tapas Tapas, Ice Cream, So Many Choices more

shocking 5/10/2005

We have visited the Harvest Vine before. Recently we visited on a weeknight . We found a table and thought we had time for dinner. We made our selections and closed our menus. Twenty minutes later the waiter appeared; we told him we had just forty minutes and wondered if we could dine. He replied, ""of course"", and left. He busied himself, chatting with other diners, cleaning tables, and didn't return. After ten minutes we got up; he appeared, we asked if there was a misunderstanding, and let him know we had to leave. He said ""yes"", sarcastically. We are aware of the value of relaxed dining, but we were merely making a polite inquiry about whether we could dine , not assuming so. We were literally speechless, never having been treated so rudely before. Sadly, we add this notation of poor service at a restaurant with wonderful food. more

Perfect! 4/8/2005

Sad to hear the previous reviewer had such a poor experience. HV is by far my favorite restaurant in Seattle. I enjoy it with friends and often dine alone mid-week at the bar (which is the best view of the chefs working). The food is impeccable. The venison with oyster mushrooms and white beans is the best dish I have had in recent memory. The various high-quality salts are nice accents on simply prepared vegies. I love the rotating grilled sausages, the super sweet and giant scallops. It can be expensive. I have dined at the harvest vine alone twice in the past two weeks and spent $68 and $82 excluding tip. Both visits included a split of the Riscal Rioja, four courses 1)golden beets, chorizo, tuna belly, scallops, 2)asparagus, blood sausage, vension and lovely piquilo peppers with salt cod. Pros: open kitchen, bar seating, incredible food Cons: a bit expensive more

Maitre'D arrogant and rude. 3/31/2005

We came in with a group of 6, positive and excited about the evening. We were met with the Maitre'D who was arrogant, impolite, embarrasingly rude, argumentative and accusatory to our group. He clearly could use even the very basic of manners (his words as he is scolding us ""Are you listening to me?""). I _CANNOT_ recommend this restaurant, no amount of food quality is worth being treated this way. Pros: location Cons: tense atmosphere more

Small plates big Wallet required 2/23/2005

I was very dissapointed, small servings, yes I know it's a Tapas bar, but the prices are ridiculous! Ambience was below average, staff were helpful. A mouthful of cheese for $3.50! please!!!! A cup of soup..... more like a spoonful. The bread was dry and inedible. Do not go if your hungry. ....Go when the boss is paying and you've already eaten. Pros: different, service was prompt Cons: expensive, small servings, expensive more

Salt, salt and more salt... 11/18/2004

I have tried over and over to like this restaurant. It looks so nice from the outside and has a great atmosphere and decor, but the food is NOT good. We ordered 4 dishes -- ONE of which I was able to eat some of. The others were either WAY to salty or bland or downright yuck. We were sitting in the basement room and I waited half an hour before our waiter checked back with us and I was able to order something else. Our meals were hardly touched and the waiter didn't ask if things were ok when he cleared the (full) plates. more

small plates. big prices 10/14/2004

We love this retaurant for its authentic small plates of Spanish food. Try the beets, duck breast, the eggs w/ chantrelles, the morcilla etc. Wine list, tho pricey is "" Spanish, deep and flavorful"" Pros: authentic menu Cons: noise, crowded more

Pure Food 6/14/2004

what I love about the food here is that it is ""pure"". Very high quality products, well-prepared. Not gooped up with exotic sauces, not stacked in towers, or served out of season. Plain, pure, simple, and delicious!!! Pros: menu, wine list Cons: noise and service more

Great Seattle Tapas 2/12/2004

Wonderful selection of tapas. One of the best restaurants in Seattle for good food that is thoughtfully prepared and well presented. Authentic setting from an authentic chef/owner. Get there early to minimize the wait -but it is certainly worth it. No reservations, but they will take a phone number - great if you live close by. Pros: cozy, freshest foods, fabulous preparations Cons: , noise level more

Amazing!! 9/30/2003

Harvest Vine is Amazing! All of the food is fresh...the wine list is Surperb and the overall atmosphere is so exciting! You can sit at the bar and watch the chiefs preparing all of the tapas in front of you, which is always fun...or you can sit at a quite table and enjoy the moment! There is always a wait...but its worth it!! I love it! more

Excellent 9/2/2003

I went to the Harvest Vine this weekend and was very impressed. The food was incredible, we got to try so many dishes because the portions are tapas sized. The staff was knowlegeable, attentive, and very friendly. The atmosphere was romantic and yet still perfect for a friendly dinner. I was astounded by the wine list, but don't depair, the waiters are happy to recommend something to your taste within your price range. Our wine was superb. I will definately be back. Pros: extensive wine list, counter seating, large party room more

Harvest Perfection 6/26/2003

The Special Occasions spot for Seattle, from the beautiful bronze kitchen where you can saddle right up to the chefs and watch the masterpieces to the jawdropping culinary perfection. It doesn't come more authentic or romantic. Pros: Great Wine, Amazing Food, Romantic Cons: No Reservations, Expensive more

stellar 4/16/2003

I went to the Harvest Vine for the first time in April and had a great time. I loved everythnig about it. The food, the atmosphere, the chefs, the service. Sit at the bar and watch your tapas be created. Ask the chefs what's best that day. If you require constant attention fromthe wait staff, then this isn't the place to go. They are more then helpful and delightful, but they aren't there to wait on you hand and foot. Pros: Food, Service, Chefs more

Our Favorite 4/10/2003

Smart helpful staff, delicious interesting food, an excellent wine list and owners, chefs, and waitpersons who are passionate about food make the Harvest Vine our favorite restaurant. Expect to wait for a table and plan to order several of the small tapas-style dishes and share them all. Pros: delicious, casual, experience Cons: no reservations, Crowded more

Best restaurant in Seattle. 4/6/2003

This isn't just the only tapas restaurant in worth going to in Seattle, it's also just plain the best restaurant. Everything is prepared from fresh ingredients, most of them flown in from distant countries -- venison and lamb from New Zealand, fish and spices and wine from Spain... pretty much everything they use is the best of its kind, and this is reflected in the flavor of the final dishes. This is a very tiny restaurant, and as a result it's incredibly friendly. I go there alone alone all the time and always end up striking up a conversation with strangers, usually about how good the food is. If you've got the $$$, sit at the tapas bar and ask Gordon or Jerry (the short and tall chefs, respectively) pick a feast for you. You'll eat foods you'd never imagined before and like them better than anything you've ever had. Pros: good food, authentic food, good desserts Cons: pricey more

bete-betean Basque (completely Basque) 12/8/2002

Chef-owner Joseph Jiménez de Jiménez is on a par with the best chefs of the Basque country. The pintxos (tapas) are an amazing taste sensation from a chef who is very creative and who will soon have a ""txoko"" (a little corner where gastromomic societies meet) that will allow him and Carolin Messier de Jiménez, the patrona and pastry chef, to be even more creative and welcoming. Pros: top-rated Basque chef, outstanding cuisine, excellent wines Cons: limited seating, limited parking more

Insultingly Bad Service 9/21/2002

My friend and I went to HV last night for a reunion dinner after his year abroad. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait. We waited patiently for well over an hour and watched our seats be given to someone else. Once the mistake was fixed we were not given menus until we were finally given a menu from another patron. The chef promptly crossed out several items. When we inquired about wines, the chef was dismissive and rude. He said ""I DON'T know what you would like"" before making a couple of brief recommendations. The food was delicious, but not as described. The blue wing was served solo instead of with the fried green tomato accompaniment presented on the menu. The bill was about $100. This is high but within the range expected for good food and service. We recieved atrociously snooty service. It was appalling. more

Portions too TINY! 8/23/2002

I just visited Harvest Vine for the first time a couple of days ago with 2 other people. I LOVED the taste and presentation of the tapas, however, the portions were way too tiny for what we expected for the price. The spinach tapas were soooooo good! The cheese however, was way overpriced -- $3 for just 1 oz. of cheese?? Yikes! Since the place is so tiny, and the experience is about a 90 minute experience, I'm guessing they've got to have such steep prices in order to make a buck. The table turnover is so low, and there's not much space, so they must make money somehow, right? Go there if you're just looking for a light snack before a movie, but don't go for dinner unless you're prepared to spend $90 for 3 people (NOT including drinks) for a TINY meal. Pros: excellent food presen, good tasting, good menu choices Cons: way too expensive, poor value for cost, not enough seating more

Tapas Done the Right Way 7/1/2002

Come here for the amzaing basque tapas. Incredible flavors and a menu that changes daily. Seating is limited, and this is not an in and out dining experience, so waits are possible. However, the food is worth it. Pros: Food, Bar Cons: Limited Space, Parking more
