I really don't know where to begin raving about how much I love this place. We had reservations for 7:00 and everything went perfect from the moment we walked in the door. There...

If you're hungry, be prepared to spend 10/29/2007

We sat at the bar so the service was direct from the chef, which is impossible to screw up. The food is very appealing, but the portions are just too small for what you end up paying. Granted, it's tapas and well prepared at that, but you'll be out at least $50 on food just to feel satisfied. I thought it was a nice experience but a bit over-rated. If you go, don't let the manger distract you too much - He's in love with himself and that'll get on your nerves if you let it. Not rushing back. more

Good Tapas 10/7/2007

Harvest Vine is well worth trying out if you haven't been here. The food was exceptional (the octopus salad is recommended), the wines were pretty reasonable, and the atmosphere was very festive. We actually found the service to be pretty decent, though I could see how they might be considered a bit abrupt. The portions were a bit small for the money, but this is one of the only restaurants of its kind in the city, so I guess there isn't a lot of competitive pressure to keep prices down. Pros: Food Cons: Prices more

Good food, TERRIBLE SERVICE! 9/12/2007

Although the food was delicious, I have to give Harvest Vine one star because the service was THAT awful. The waitress didn't bother to smile and never came around to our table. Considering how small the dining area is it almost seemed like she was trying to avoid us. We waited for everything, ordering, getting the food, getting water, and finally getting the check. The experience was so terrible that I've done something that I've never done before...left our server zero tip. Cons: TERRIBLE SERVICE more

Fabulous Food....Abysmal Service 9/5/2007

This was my first visit to Harvest Vine. The host happily seated us at two great seats at the bar where cutlery, plates, and menus were already waiting. Fantantic start! Too bad they also happily forgot us for the rest of the evening. We waited and waited, then finally had to physically grab a waiter to take our order....we also had to beg for a glass of wine. They gave us crusty bread but refused our request for olive oil (apparently this is a big no no here). We just wanted a little something to put on the dry bread since it was going to be a while before we got anything else since no one had yet to take our order.....sheesh! Pros: Fabulous Food Cons: Horrible Service more

Great atmosphere, tasty food, nice wines; but it's all meaningless with the bizarre service. 2/3/2007

On the plus side, our server was kind and helpful, the tapas were tasty, wine was great, and the room felt right. On the negative side, the Maitre'd was full of himself, the portion sizes were ridiculous for the price (and we're not gluttonous types at all), but worst of all: the dreaded olive oil confrontation. We thought it might be nice to dip our bread in some, but got the same speech that apparently others have. Some nonsense about ""other sauces"" being available, and the chef refuses! My wife has travelled extensively throughout Spain, and knows that olive oil with bread is ubiquitous. I thought they were joking, but no. Reminded me of the Seinfeld ""no soup for you!"" episode. Never again! Pros: Atmosphere, food quality, wine list Cons: Arrogant staff, portion size for the price, bizarre olive oil policy more

best restaurant in seattle 1/31/2007

This is my all time favorite restaurant in all of seattle. I've been here several times and went again recently. Everytime, the food is outstanding. The service has waivered from time to time, but this time it was fantastic. Our server's name was Alisha and she was so helpful through the list of Spanish and Basque wines, not pretentious or rude like most restaurants of this level in Seattle. The food was also great. It is always consistent and you can tell the chef puts a lot of his soul into this place. I had the beet salad, which is always good. The octopus was out of this world. SO tender and flavorful. Good coffee and desserts as well. HIghly recommended. Pros: Easy parking, pleasant ambiance more

Great Atmosphere, Fantastic Food 12/26/2006

We went to Harvest Vine just this past weekend and had a great experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Most importantly, the food is to-die-for. I couldn't recommend this place enough. Pros: Incredible food, great atmosphere Cons: Kind of expensive, but worth it more

One of my favorites. 11/30/2006

Never thought I'd list a tapas place as one of the best places in town but I love the excellent food preparation and helpful wine selection. Pros: Warm rustic environment where they let the food speak for itself. Cons: Get there with time to spare; it's a small space that crowds quickly. more

""Tapas"" means ""small plates"". Duh. 8/27/2006

The Harvest Vine is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants. Nestled in Madison Valley, this bustling, cozy restaurant has earned its place as one of Seattle's best eateries. Pros: Fabulous tapas, innovative menu, great wine list Cons: It's getting too busy!! more

Never again 7/30/2006

We had an 8.30 reservation; the first in our party arrived before 8.30, the rest of us arrived at 8.35. We were told the table ""wasn't quite ready."" Restaurant offered champagne while we waited; when one of our party said she'd rather have a glass of wine, she was told that only the champagne was ""complimentary;"" server ignored her as our friend said ""but I'll pay for it."" We were finally seated at 9 - what's the point of making a reservation? Cons: service, prices, and service more

an addendum to my review below (Amazing food ... shockingly contemptuous service.) 7/17/2006

I just wanted to add a postscript to my review below. I sent an email to the Harvest Vine describing our awful experience there, just in case they were having an off night and to give them a chance to respond. I'll let you guess what kind of reply I got from them. Um, none. That pretty much sums up what they think of their customers. Again, great food, not worth being treated like dirt. more

A memorable engagement 3/6/2006

I recently proposed to my girlfriend at the Harvest Vine. The manager, Jennifer, was great! She had a pastry chef create a special cake for us that held the ring in place. The floor staff were great at keeping everything a secret while providing us with first class service and food. They gave us complimentary champagne and port with desert. I recommend eating downstairs in the wine cellar room - it can be very intimate and romantic. I highly recommend the Harvest Vine for a casual get-together with friends or for a special night with your special someone. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Friendly Staff more

Expensive, scant, authentic Spanish cuisine 2/16/2006

I am sorry to say that this is the only legitimately Spanish restaurant in Seattle. The food is great, but the servings are unbelievably small (I grew up in Spain, and the whole point to tapas is that, in general, they are small and affordable, so you can sample everything). It costs $50 per person to get any decent amount of food. The service is sporadic and unprepared. The octopus is perfect as are the homemade desserts. I wish someone else would open a Spanish restaraunt that is actually affordable (too bad Madrid 522 was such a debacle). Pros: Food, Atmosphere, wine Cons: Expensive, tiny portions, crowded more

Great Food - Weird Service 1/29/2006

I'd read so many great things about HV - I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. The food was amazing - some of the most amazing tapas I've had outside of Espagne. Service - well just off - it was my first visit so chalking it up to an off night- they are super busy and have a lot going on - but we found the two ladies waiting on us to be less than helpful and really not that interested in taking our order, etc. Food was fabulous - so willing to give it another go. I would not call this a $$ - its tapas so unless you are there for a small snack it tends to be closer to a $$$ restaurant. more

One of the best eateries in town... 1/4/2006

....and I've eaten in many. I loved Harvest Vine - deliciously flawless food, funny quirky staff and awesome abience and presentation. HIGHLY recommended... Pros: chefs, food!, ambiance Cons: parking, small space more

Don't ask for salt or olive oil! 10/27/2005

Highly over rated and over priced. Yes, the food is authentic but not great. It seems that most of Harvest Vine's menu comes from the Basque region of Spain- yet the only thing they managed to get 100% right was the terrible service. For heavens sake, when the waiter finally comes to your table with your pintxo, or xsmall bite of food, don't dare ask for salt or olive oil (even for your bread), they will deny you that common courtesy of adding spice to your food- or dining enjoyment for that matter... Don't bother! Pros: wine selection Cons: overpriced, pompous more
