MADE ME FEEL IMPORTANT 9/7/2011

I JUST WANTED TO TELL EVERYONE HOW IMPRESSED I WAS WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE I RECEIVED FROM NEW PLANET MOVING. THE LADY MARISA WAS VERY HELPFUL. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I EVER USED A MOVING COMPANY SO I WAS A LITTLE NERVOUS. I NEW NOTHING ABOUT MOVING AND BY THE TIME I WAS DONE TALKING TO THE 30 MILLION SALES PEOPLE THAT CALLED ME I WAS JUST HORRIFIED. WOW I DIDNT KNOW THERE WAS SO MANY WAYS TO GO ABOUT A MOVE. BUT MARISA TOLD ME A WAY TO WEED SOME OF THE COMPANIIES OUT BY GOING TO THE D.O.T. WEBSITE. WOW THAT REALLY HELPED GET RID OF ALOT OF THE MOVING COMPANIES. I ALSO WAS HAPPY WHEN SHE TOOK THE TIME TO GO OVER ALL THE EXTRA CHARGES THAT MAY OCCUR DURING A MOVE. WELL CAN WE SAY THERES A CHARGE FOR JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING. SHE WAS VERY NICE AND GAVE ME SOME FREE BOXES THOUGH.NOW THAT I HAD MY ESTIMATE AND SHE DID TELL ME THAT IT SHOULD BE MY WORST CASE SCENERIO THOUGH. SO I PUT MY FAITH IN GOD AND SAID FINE LETS BOOK IT. SO MOVING DAY CAME AND THE 2 GUYS THAT CAME DID A REALLY GREAT JOB. THEY PACKED MY ITEMS LIKE THEY WERE PACKING THEIR OWN STUFF. THEY WRAPPED BLANKETS AND TAPED THEM SO THE ITEMS WOULDNT GET DAMAGED. I WAS VERY IMPRESSED. THEN A FEW DAYS LATER I GET A CALL FROM THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER AND HE TOLD ME WHAT MY ITEMS WEIGHED AND HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST AT DELIVERY. MARISA WAS RIGHT SHE DID GIVE ME THE WORST CASE SCENERIO CUZ I ACTUALLY GOT TO PAY 20 BUCKS LESS THAN THE ESTIMATE SHE GAVE ME. BUT THEN AGAIN I DID TAKE ALONG TIME WITH HER GOING THRU MY STUFF AND TOLD HER EVERYTHING DOWN TO THE DVDS I HAD. JUST TO LET YOU GUYS KNOW THAT IF YOU MAKE SURE TO TELL THEM EVERY ITEM YOU WILL BE HAPPY. DELIVERY TAKES AWHILE IT SEEMED BUT WHEN MY STUFF GOT TO MY HOUSE THE GUYS UNWRAPPED IT AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER. NOW I AM AN OLDER WOMEN AND I CANT MOVE AROUND TO GOOD ANYMORE SO THE FACT THAT THESE GUYS PUT MY STUFF TOGETHER WAS JUST HEAVEN SENT.I WOULD DEFINATLEY RECOMEND THESE GUYS TO MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS more

COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE 9/2/2011

I put one star because there isnt anything lower available to grade these people. I had made arrangements with them 6 weeks prior to our move and we had all the boxes and furniture ready to go. ONE day prior to their coming and only after I called them, they informed me that they are not coming to Salt Lake City to move us to California because they do not have enough people to move there from SLC and it would not be worth it to them to come and just move us. They did not give us the courtesy of informing us about that at least one week prior to the date because all the other movers told us they need at least one week notice. They waited until the last minute and simply dumped us without any regard for the customer. With such a big move and many prior arrangements, it created a huge burden of stress trying to find someone to help us in the last minute .and rearrange our appointments more

Both of my moves went just fine 9/1/2011

I moved from Dallas to Las Vegas and back to Dallas again. Both moves were with New Planet. During my first experience with them I was very satisfied with the rate that I was quoted, and the total move I did had about $150 total in extra packing charges that I may have avoided if I payed closer attention to what the girl was telling me as opposed to getting hyper about the rate LOL. All in all my items arrived in fine condition no major issues along the way. The delivery was 3 days later than I had planned, but being that I moved with Mayflower before I knew to plan a little extra just in case. By the way, the delivery wasn more

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY 9/1/2011

They were late the day of to pick up my stuff. I had to call them the day before (because they STILL hand't called me about a time). I call and they say before noon. So I take a half day off work, and at about noon they call again, this time saying they are late at it will be 2. Ok so I take the rest of the day off work since there is no point in going in now. 2:30 rolls around, I get a call, LATE AGAIN, 5 now. Finally at 5:30 they pick up my stuff, but I had WASTED the whole day waiting for them. This is not that bad though, GETTING my stuff would turn out to be MUCH WORSE. So I get to my new home half way across the country, it's the first of the month. Mind you my stuff was picked up on the 15th of the previous month so it had been sitting in storage for about 2 weeks. They hadn't called me at all to let me know when my stuff would arrive, which was strange because they said it would be there right around the time I got there (3-5 days). I call and I can't get through, they keep telling me dispatcher is out blah blah blah. I call the next day, same deal dispatcher is out we have to call you back, no call that day either. Now, I am pissed so I call a 3rd day and say that I am staying on the line until someone talks to me. Then they put some stupid b***h on the phone. She already has an attitude because I am upset, for good reason (no one is telling me anything!) She then tells me my stuff is still in storage, they haven't even PLANNED a day for it to LEAVE, and I am at least 5 to 6 day drive away for a big rig. So then they give me a time to call back (a few days later), so I call, they still don't know. Give me ANOTHER time to call back the next day, so I do, now they have an estimated arrival, the next weds (it was sunday). So I'm frustrated, but whatever I don't care anymore I just want my stuff. Tuesday rolls around, I call, oh they aren't going to be here until Friday (surprise, surprise). Call Thursday, nope not until SATURDAY, MAYBE! So on Friday the truck driver, calls me and says SAT. morning, turns out to be Saturday NIGHT. All the boxes are destroyed, but luckily i had packed my important stuff really well. But they still managed to break my desk while moving it, I haven't even bother to call the company because they have the WORST customer service and I am sure they would deny any responsibility (trust me I didn't break my desk it was fine when they picked it up, got here broken). I hate this company, first off they are morons, secondly the customer service is ATROCIOUS, thirdly, they couldn't be on time or give you an an accurate estimated arrival to save their lives. SAVE YOUR MONEY, NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! more

?It is my pleasure to comment on the service that was provided for a cross country move from NV to PA. The transfer of possessions across the US was completed satisfactorily. The men who executed the physical move did a fine job and all efforts were appreciated at the receiving end of the move. The load arrived in fine condition and the men worked very hard and fast to see that everything arrived safely. The contact on the West Coast was effectively communicative. I thank them all for the job well done and recommend their services to others who might be considering hiring them for a move? Patricia B. ?I would like to take this time to inform you of how happy we were with your company. Your workers arrived at my home on time and ready to work. I was amazed at how fast they were able to pack up all of my items. The delivery of my possessions to CA was also done on time. All of my belongings were in perfect condition. My mother and I are extremely satisfied with the service of your company and would gladly recommend you to others. We also appreciated the follow up call we received after the move? Barbara G. ?I just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful job of moving our estate in Las Vegas up to Seattle WA. The whole process was painful and you were very helpful. I?d recommend New Planet Moving to anyone!? David T. ?Thank you for our move. We were very greateful to have our own 26?truck so our goods could not only come directly to our new home, but did not have to be reloaded at all. Thank the foreman for the good job he did finding his way around Chicago and the ?elevated? tracks. It is such a tricky town to drive in and he was a great help saving us shuttle fees. All the best? Meredith S. ?We would like to thank you all for a very, very good service of moving us to Florida. Everything went smoothly without no problems. You were on time, the crew was excellent and we would recommend anyone your company. Thanks Again ?Rueben H. ?I am sending kudos to your organization for their tireless skills displayed during our recent move. Your sales staff gave us a discounted rate, and allowed us to determine both the pickup and delivery dates. Your personnel packed and loaded not only my belongings but also those of my fiance? for our relocation to Texas. This endeavor involved two residences and over 13,000lbs worth of household goods. As a former driver and dispatcher in the moving industry, I was impressed by the expertise, enthusiasm, and care excersised by your personnel. It will be my pleasure to contact your company when the time comes for our next move.? Ronald S. Original copies are available upon request for any customers. more

You Pay for what you Get 8/20/2011

We had a miserable experience. Let me explain why. For the pick up our movers were 5 hours late, delaying our departure for a long vacation to the point that we lost a day of travel. They do not explicitly tell you beforehand, but after they arrive they have several documents they want you to sign. These documents include the provisions that New Planet will charge you $2.50 per 100 lbs per flight of stairs. A flight of stairs = 5 steps. New Planet has the right to hold your belongings for 21 days after your initial delivery date. We requested our items on July 21st to be delivered on August 1st. We finally received our things on August 20th. This happened after we were given three ""worst case scenario"" dates. The third date finally proved to be credible. The movers do a nice job disassembling furniture, but take no care for boxes. Most of our boxes were destroyed upon delivery because the movers carelessly placed heavy boxes on top of light ones. We had one wadrobe box they turned on its side and threw to the top of the pile in the truck! Yes, they have very low rates. But you pay for what you get. We will never use this company again. more

HORRIBLE, Scam, Ripoff Company! Don't Use Them! 8/17/2011

They hold your furniture hostage until you pay more; damage half of your property; their trucks leak water and smear rust stains on everything; and they steal from you. I borrowed the following paragraph from another review I read because it ""says it all"" so well and I didn't think I could say it better. Hope that reviewer doesn't mind (especially since I agree completely with his words).\r \r ""The worst part is that this is all intentional fraud. They know in advance when they tell you to provide 500 pounds less of property (to be safe) and promise a refund if your load is less than the contract amount that they have no intentions of giving back a red cent. They know in advance that when your list says 100 items, then when the packers remove the legs from the tables and disassemble the beds and number all the pieces separately that they plan to accuse and charge you for ""more items than what were on your list"" so they can jack you off for that 75 cents a pound additive weight charge. And they know in advance that they underestimated the cubic feet needed in the truck so they can screw you again by saying you had bulky items and that's why your final, total cost is $5000 instead of the $3000 they guaranteed. And, they know in advance that they will call you several days later, after they take your furniture to their warehouse, that they will blackmail you for more money (and you have to pay) or they'll threaten to auction off your property. And, they know in advance that they will tell the delivery drivers to make up some excuse about not being able to drive the truck to your door so they can extort another $3000 out of you for ""Long Haul"" fees, that is, you pay more for them to rent a smaller truck and/or carry your furniture farther than 75 feet. And all this they did to us.""\r \r They did all that to my family as well, and we will NEVER recover! Check Channel 13 news in Las Vegas for an investigative report on these con men. I heard they are doing an in depth investigation on New Planet Moving and Storage's fraudulent, extortion practices. They suck and everyone needs to know it! more

To Whom it May Concern 8/4/2011

I am writing in reference to our experience with New Planet Moving from 06/22-06/30/11. \r \r Lauren Alexandra was the first individual that my husband and I spoke with at New Planet Moving in May as we were obtaining quotes from a number of moving companies. Lauren was very patient as she listened to our questions and concerns as this was our first major move across country from Ohio to California. She followed up with occasionally after we received the initial quote as we were trying to make a decision. Based upon a number of references that Lauren had provided and I had made contact with the references, we made the decision to select New Planet Moving.\r Lauren once again was very patient as I believe I had her walk through the inventory list three times and our list continued to change. She suggested that we slightly over-estimate which was the right call...we still had more inventory than what I had given her the final time! \r Lauren said that we would have the person in charge of our move call me the day before they arrived, and he called as expected! Leo and Daniel were two energetic movers with a great sense of humor. They worked extremely hard as they packed up the semi-truck on a somewhat hot-humid day dodging one short-lived rain storm. I walked them through all three floors of our house and they did a beautiful job wrapping and protecting the furniture that I had not disassembled, as well as wrapping up a number of our large framed pictures. Leo gave me some great pointers as I was still packing the last of the boxes when they arrived. I was amazed at the precision of packing from floor to ceiling...I thought I was a good packer!\r Upon arrival at our townhouse in California, Leo and Daniel once again did a great job efficiently moving all the furniture into the respective rooms, reassembling furniture, and patiently waited until I moved my cats to a different bedroom so they could bring the last bedroom furniture and boxes upstairs.\r Although my husband fell asleep on the couch and my mom and I were busy orchestrating where everything was to be placed late into the night, Leo and Daniel were professionals.\r When we are ready to move again, my first call will be to New Planet Moving!\r \r more

Don't believe the negative reviews. They were great! 8/4/2011

Last year, I moved from Los Angeles to Montana for a job. After getting a number of bids, I got called by New Planet and they were literally half the price of most of the other estimates. The day that I was to move 2 very professional guys showed up, packed up, and shrink wrapped my stuff, charging me no extra. When it came time to unload in my new apartment, the delivery guys (different) were again professional and courteous, unpacking my stuff, putting together my furniture, and arranging it at no extra charge. Fast forward to the present day, I am moving on to another job in Boston. I immediately called New Planet and again got an estimate that was 30% cheaper than all the others, but then I was called back and told that there was no way they could do the move, as they had no trucks going to Montana. Dejectedly, I tried calling some of the less sleazy sounding big name outfits (United Van Lines, Mayflower). Not only did they want to charge $1000 to pack up the apartment (packing a TV alone was $250!!), but their estimates for the basic move were $1000 more. I called Lesley back and begged her to try again. She then went back to her dispatcher, pulled strings, and agreed to do the move. I am literally getting a full-service move for 2/3 the price of the lowest estimate of the pack it yourself operations. That's customer service and why I wholeheartedly recommend New Planet. more

they were cool with me 7/28/2011

I have never moved before. I went to some website that got me a ton of estimates. I went through an inventory with the first person that called me, and they told me I had about 4000lbs. So I shopped all the companies with the same weight estimate. When I spoke with Lauren at New Planet she informed me that most of the issues customers have stem from being over the weight estimate. Even though I insisted on not going through another inventory she kind of made me. Well she told me that my weight was 5,000lbs, as much as I was not looking forward to paying more for my move than I had been planning on with a 4000lb estimate, I elected to go with the 5000lb estimate. I went to the scale before and after with the movers to verify if I really have 5000lbs, and in fact I had 200 more lbs than that. Being that my inventory didn more

Worst moving experience ever 7/25/2011

New Planet Moving was one of the most unprofessional businesses that I have ever had to deal with. They were a day late on pickup and more than two hours late on delivery which forced me to not be there and leave only my wife. My wife is a very capable woman, however, in this situation the movers scared her by saying that they would charge her a lot more unless she paid HUGE tips; I probably would have done the same in her shoes. Though we were not moving a houseful of stuff, the company lost or broke a maddeningly large amount of our possessions, many of which could not possibly be replaced. It turns out that Our items were dropped off and picked up many times before they made it to our new home, which allowed for countless opportunities to lose and damage our personal possessions. When dealing with them after they soon began to give us the run-around and even screened our calls. It was one of the worst experiences a newly wed couple could have had on a cross-country move/honeymoon. more

Bad moving company 7/14/2011

I really wish I had read the reviews on this company before I used them. They really suck!! They never were up front with me on the time table of the delivery. I had called them and asked what day my stuff would be delivered. They said it would be the fallowing weekend. NOPE! Almost 3 weeks later I get my stuff. The sales person said it would be on the same truck, never said it would be taken off and weighed, stored in there warehouse, and put on another truck. I got crushed boxes and they damaged a chainsaw and lost an expensive chainsaw. It was probably given to another person or lost in there warehouse or may have even been stolen. They tried to give me three things that were not mine. If I was not an honest person I could have got some nice stuff!! I had to tell the movers it was not mine. There insurance is .60 per pound or something like that. So for my $500.00 chainsaw I get about $5.00! They tried to get me to sign the inventory list before they unloaded my stuff and they did not even check off the stuff on the list as they unloaded it. Other moving companies usually do that. They were in a big hurry and didn't seem to care about anything. Also one of there dispatchers was really rude to me on the phone, very unprofessional. Don't use this company!! The only good thing about this company was the guys that picked up my stuff, they were nice and pretty cool. more

Exactly What I wanted Great Job 7/12/2011

recently got my delivery from this company. All of my items were in tact and the movers at delivery were awesome. The guys at pickup were pretty good as well. I did wait for 2 days longer than I planned on but that was no big deal because I was staying with my son at his house while I waited, plus they called me to let me know they were running late. Everything went really well, one thing is for sure when I made the reservation the girl basically forced me to over-estimate the weight of my items by like 500lbs, I thought it was totally excessive, so I went to the scal and attended the weighing in and out, and she was right, I actually had about 75 additional pounds, but they didn't charge me for that. I am very happy with the service and rates that I recieved and will be using them again when I move up to the North West as well.\r \r more

Absolutely AWFUL Movers 6/29/2011

** NEGATIVE STARS** This was quite possibly the worst experience I've ever had with any company; in fact, I only signed up for City Search to warn other potential customers to AVOID New Planet moving While their deal seemed like the best quote around, it is because it did not include the: -the weeklong hotel stay I had to pay for when the driver failed to deliver my furniture on time, or in the additional two days I was promised by the company - in fact, the driver failed to show up for four more days, which he later explained was because despite arriving in my location on Friday night, he needed to take some time for himself - the additional $400 CASH the mover required before unloading any of MY items off the van; or - the ""elevator fee"" that he charged for using the elevator (Lord help my bank account had he needed to use the stairs) Not to mention the fact that the driver never once called to tell me that he was on his way, every communication was initiated by me. When he did finally show up, it was not at the time he said it would be, he never called beforehand and then threatened to leave with my things because I was not at my apartment the second he decided to arrive. He was rude and lazy - charging $400 to use MY car to get my furniture inside the complex, while claiming he was giving me a ""break"". While the women were nice enough at the front office - I had a significantly better experience with UHaul movers I had, who were both friendly, efficient and up-front about fees. If you did hire new planet and find out your driver is Sergei - I would request a refund IMMEDIATELY or plan on waiting a week plus for your furniture to arrive and a surly, lazy mover who will charge excessive fees IN CASH and do little to deserve it. more

Had a very good experience 6/29/2011

I recently moved with this company and although I will admit they did call to ask me if I would post a positive review, I really don?t mind to do it at all. They did a great job the lady I booked with, the movers at both my pickup and delivery were great, and the dispatcher was super helpful. I also appreciated the fact that they always stuck to the initial answers to questions that I had. This is also one of the things that made me choose them. Other companies were changing the answers depending on when I?d call. I was very nervous to move with any carrier but I am glad that I did choose New Planet Moving because everything got here just fine and I will totally recommend them in the future. I think people need to keep in mind that if there is an issue with any company people always complain right away, but even myself I had a great move, and I wouldn?t have thought to write the review unless they asked. I did however send them a positive letter so I somewhat thought it out lol, Thank you guys I will def use you on my next move! more

I had a great move, no issues at all 6/21/2011

I recently moved from Las Vegas to California and used New Planet Moving. Like most people I looked around for quite a while trying to get the best rate, and more than that i wanted to be sure my items were safe. They offered me a rate on an exclusive truck from Vegas to here and I decided it was worth the extra $500 that they charge for this for service. A lot of other companies were charging between 2-3000 for this move, but they charged more at 3550 -- at first i was like oh this is too much money for me, but they explained to me that they include so much more than the other movers as far as tape, shrink wrap, fuel some boxes etc... so I went online and did a bunch of research and i have to say all the companies had some good, and some not so good reviews, ultimately I chose New Planet because they made me feel more comfortable than anyone else did. Every time I'd ask them a question no matter who i got on the phone they gave me the same answer. I am very happy to say all of my items arrived in tact the movers were really great and so was the office staff, thank you so much new planet, I will use you on our next move too more

Actually, negative stars! 6/21/2011

Actually, negative stars!\r \r I would never again trust New Planet Moving! They were the worst in service, before, during and after the move! I know this post might be long but I assure you that reading it is extremely important if you are thinking of hiring this moving company.\r Before the move: they came late. Enough said. When you are planning diligently on moving at a certain time, you expect the moving company to be on time! They were late by one whole day and then 3 hours on the time they promised to arrive.\r During the move: They were extremely late! They didn’t show up at our destination for 11 days AFTER they promised to be there. So of course we called them at ALL THE NUMBERS they provided to us and not a single person would tell us an exact arrival date/time. We slept on the floor of our new home for so long that our backs were stiff! And when they did show up, they lost our bed. Ironic, isn’t it?\r Side note: While they were unpacking the truck when they arrived, the moving people bribed me into tipping them more in exchange for not charging “last minute” fees. Also, they lost so many of our things and many of the boxes were damaged as they were unpacked. I found out that they unpacked and then re-packed a truck two times after they had left our original home. They did this to weigh the items and switch trucks, this all adds up to catastrophe for losing your client’s belongings. \r After the move: As I had unpacked a bunch of the boxes, I found items completely mishandled and shattered. This is on top of having lost many of our items, including essential parts to our bed. And let’s not forget that I STILL HAVE items from OTHER clients! I had informed them at least 25 times to come pick up these items to be returned to other homes and they never did! If you are missing your grill, please let me know! \r Insurance: Can I say that this move happened in August 2010 and I handed in my insurance claim in January 2011. In May 2011 they finally got back to me when I contacted my attorney to handle this case. I had to do this because in the months in between they were extremely rude to me on the phone and I am 100% confident they lost my claim. I would call on average 9 times a week to find an update. Neither the insurance company nor New Planet Moving would answer my calls (they were screening) and update me. New Planet Moving also promised that they were still searching for our missing items, which I do not believe because I had to make a new claim for these each time as I can tell they forgot about my items. In the end, the insurance company said they would only give us $100 for the damages. And this amount was only given because my attorney pushed them into dealing with the situation. \r Please take note that this is the worst moving company in the history of business! If you are still thinking of hiring them, I ask you to reconsider because New Planet Moving Company does not care about your stuff at all! \r more

Great Deal 6/14/2011

talk about economical! new planet was able to haul all my things from Florida to Hawaii with no fuss at all and at surprising low cost. i was actually referred to this company by a good friend who told me to hold off on the company i was going to go with and try them and see what prices new planet would give me. lets just say he wasn't kidding. at first i was skeptical of the prices and i was scared they would have a long contract with small print to catch me on, but no i actually wasn't. the price they quoted me was what i ended up paying. i am so glad i moved with new planet and i am really happy with the money i saved. more

Awesome customer service and fast on delivery !!! 6/14/2011

I recently relocated from Boston to Los Angeles I researched different companies before finally choosing New Planet Moving company. When I looked at the different companies and called I kept running into hidden fees and inconstancies between the info on the site and the info i was given by the reps. finally i came across new planet and their rates where affordable and accurate to the type of move I was trying to make. The representatives at new planet where very friendly and helpful. after setting an appointment to pick up all my stuff. sure enough they showed up on time and moves me quicker than I expected. needless to say all my stuff was moved coast to coast and in perfect condition. I would recommend this company to everyone and am going to use them again in the future when i need to relocate again. more
