Never Again! 10/22/2009

Capital Appliance were extremely slow to do the repairs on my washer, it took 9 days from the 1st appt. when they came to evaluate the problem. Customer service was terrible, very unwilling to help speed up the process of getting the repairs done, not to mention they are very overpriced. I would never recommend this company to anyone! Trust me, keep looking! I don't even know how they stay in business! Cons: Terrible customer service more

Mean Spirited 7/21/2009

This company fixed my dishwasher on the 3rd attempt. They left the house twice claiming that it was repaired and it did not work for a single cycle. After every incident I was treated rudely by customer service and John the service manager. John has a high opinion of himself and a low opinion of anybody that isn't happy. Beware! Cons: Incompetent and Unprofessional more

Horrible Customer Service but Wonderful Tech 7/10/2009

This was the worst customer service experience .They make me sick..They sound drunk or HIGH you pick..They had NO common sense what so ever. First I talked to Jessica and then to Gina and then to Jill. neither could handle the situation on their own or were smart enough to. You must not have to be smart to answer the phones.HAHAHAHAHA But the guy who came out was an older gentleman. His shirt said mike but with the way the company iS im not to sure.HAHAHAHAHA but he was wonderful.looked at it and took care of it for me right away..SO Pros: Great Service Tech Cons: Gross receptionist Gina, Jill Jessica more

Capital City Appliance Svc get another "F" (read this). 6/18/2009

I bought a microwave at LOWES. They use capitol city. After 4 times at repairing the microwave (brought the wrong part each time), they called to make a 5th appointment. I asked to speak with the tech before he came out to insure he had the right part. Never heard from him. Called Lowes and asked why they use capital city appliance with 15 complaints against them on this site. Another persons said the BBC has 15 complaints against them. Call your store and tell them you refuse to let them in your house due to 30 plus complaints against them. more

maytag stove 6/11/2009

Read kolper65hiall-same issue but we have bisque stove and got a black panel and they are so cheap they would not pay to overnight a panel when the one we got was defective. Been w/out a stove for 3 weeks. Jenna told me to eat a ham sandwich or go out and eat. Then SHE cancelled the order and told Maytag I did. When we called Maytag, Jenna told Maytag I cancelled the order. Jody and Jenna were very rude and not willing to help the customer. Still w/out a stove for another 4-5 days. Do not use this company! Pros: nothing Cons: everything-beware more

BBB Rating is "F" for a reason 5/30/2009

We contacted Maytag for a local repair service in Columbus, and they recommended Capital City Appliance Service. We will contact Maytag immediately to question why they would refer a customer to a company that is not BBB accredited. We spent an inordinate amount of time on the phone explaining countless times what problem was occurring with the washing machine (agitating but not spinning). They sent a repairman to our home, and with the same explanation we had given over the phone 2x, the repairman knew immediately what the issue was. A mere $300 transmission! We have no idea why this same diagnosis was not suggested on the phone call, because if it had been, we would not have scheduled a repair call. The repairman admitted that he replaces at least 2 transmission a week on these Maytag appliances, so obviously Capital City is aware of the problem. Sounds like a company who tries to make money on unnecessary repair calls. Our biggest mistake: Not checking this company's BBB rating more

Abby 5/5/2009

We had a terrible experience as well. I only wish I could have read these reviews before allowing them to step foot in our home.\r Isn't it time to get the Attorney General involved?\r The owner was also rude, and obnoxious on the phone. I am amazed that Sears uses them more

Hassle 3/24/2009

The motor recently went out in our dryer. Initially Capital City appliance was great. They had someone there the next day to look at it to determine the problem. The repairman was very professional. They ordered the part and by the time we scheduled the appointment it was one week later. When he arrived with the motor he found out it was defective. Capital City refuses to admit they did anything wrong. They also are treating us like we are wrong for being upset about the situation. This happened last Friday. Today is Tuesday and I had to call them for an update. When I did they told me it was not their fault and blamed the manufacturer. They also were very rude and basically said I am being unreasonable. All I asked for was some communication and I am treated poorly. Not a very customer service driven company. I would not recommend them to anyone! more

Beware! Rating of F for a reason 3/24/2009

I have never written a poor review for a company so it speaks volumes that I will about this one. I found the company on Maytag's website (I have since encouraged them to remove them from their site) when our fridge has on the fritz. Their repairmain came out and pronounced that there was a short in the light bulb socket and thermostat and a part would have to be ordered. When we did not receive a phone call in the time promised, I called the company to see what was going on. The lady I spoke to was curt and said that the repairman had not gotten back to her yet. When I explained that he promised us a call back so we could approve the cost and get the part ordered over the weekend, I was greeted with absolute silence that I eventually broke by saying goodbye. I looked them up on [business rating bureau}, found they had a rating of F, and immediately called another company. The new company came in, looked it over, and said there was not a short; a part had merely become detached. He saved us over $100! His service call was $20 less than Cap City as well. A complaint was made to the bureau, at which point the owner responded that he hoped that the ""jerry-rigged:_ system would hold and that he hoped the new company was still in business whe the part fell apart. I could have done without the sarcasm. Poor response, poor service, and poor experience. Trust the [business rating bureau]....they rock! My new company has an A rating and they were the best! Pros: None that I can tell Cons: Dishonest or incompetent service; rude customer service more

Very Poor Technical and Professional Service 1/26/2009

Repairman sent out on 4 separate occassions for same probem. 6 year old refrigerator stopped cooling. After repair attmept, followed instructions that repairman gave and unit still not working. When I called the office back they were very rude and accusatory. Refuse to send repairman back out. Finaly agreed to come back after talking with supervisor. After each visit the refrigerator was still not fix. Add to the the rudness and condesending attitude of everyone at the company. Wife was so upset by the way she had been treated she was afraid to call the company again and has been using a hairdryer to defrost the refrigerator freezer for 3 months. I had enough and called again only to be greeted with hangups, put on hold and finally you need to call someone else and there will be no refund of your repair cost. more

Over priced 11/25/2008

We recently had our home oven go on the fritz (Nov 08) and Maytag suggested Capital City as the authorized repair center. \r \r Though they did indicate what the price of the repair prior to the work and we did agree to pay though we have reservations as to the final bill. \r \r The technician was on-site for less than one hours time we were billed aprox $140 and another $75 for the part. \r \r We found the same part on-line for under $20 though as the President of Capital City Appliance curtly pointed out it was not an OEM part and if we could find them cheaper please buy him some... No one likes a smart ass...\r \r The President of Capital City Appliance also attempted to justify the high cost of the repair as stating they charged $20 below suggested price. No indication was given to whom suggested the price in the first place but we have an idea.\r \r The service was completed and the oven now is in working order however having only payed aprox $400 for the oven new the repair cost of $220 ju more

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE 11/6/2008

My refrigerator quit on me the day before my daughters birthday. I was almost in tears with all of the food I was afraid would spoil. I then called Capital City Appliance, and they sent out Greg G. He was absolutely WONDERFUL. He understood my stress, my situation, and I felt as if he actually cared. This from a service company? He quickly diagnosed the issue and had it repaired in less than 20 minutes. I asked him if they serviced laundry appliances as well. They do. I had a dryer that never really dried the clothes very well...even from the first day I got it. 15 minutes later he had it drying better than the day I got the thing. I have found MY repairman for life. more

Have Low Expectations -- if any 8/4/2008

Quite possibly one of the worst customer service experiences -- the company receptionist was snippy, rude and anything but apologetic for not contacting my family in regards to our service date and time. Her tone of voice showed total disregard for the fact that I arranged time off work and was sitting around waiting for the service person. She cut me off several times in the conversation She went out of her way to explain how many customers they have and how they treat every customer the same...Gosh I hope not ! She explained her company policies as if I was suddenly going to feel better about the fact that they failed to contact us to tell us that they wouldn't be coming until the afternoon. If you have to use this company because of a warranty, avoid having any expectations whatsoever. more

Does not honor 30 day guarantee on service calls. 7/3/2008

Capitol City Appliances(CCA) specializes in Bosch and Frigidaire repairs. We had a very expensive call to repair both our refrigerator and dishwasher. In total we paid over $400 to fix just the dishwasher. Six months later we were having problems with the dishwasher filling mid-cycle so we called and CCA came out. The technician pushed two buttons to reset the machine and left ten minutes after arriving. Fifteen minutes later the same thing happened and the washer never filled again. We called called CCA and were told that we would be charged another $64 just to come out. Apparently we were at fault for not properly explaining when the dishwasher was not filling. Make sure you word your complaint properly because if you do not know your way around the appliance and you misdiagnose the problem CCA will not honor their guarantee. more

Terrible Customer Service!! Avoid!! 3/4/2008

Refrigerator repair tech broke copper wiring for ice maker while trying to fix thermostat. Water soaked and damaged basement carpet. Refrig still not working. Service manager took a long time to call me back and was very rude on phone. Finally agreed to clean up water damage, continued denying it was their fault and actually hung up on me. \r DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. more

Hopefully you'll get the good repairman; otherwise its an expensive version of Amateur Hour... 11/27/2007

Capital City sent a repairman twice to fix an icemaker and door-light issue on a Kitchenaid refrigerator. Unsucessful, neither the light nor the icemaker worked after $225 spent. 3rd visit, different repairman from same company fixed the problem in less than 3 minutes. Even though I was promised credit for the misdiagnosis overpayment; it never happened. The schduler/owner/foreman creep refused to issue credit even though the first repairman acknowledged he had misdiagnosed and promised that I would at least partially be reimbursed for the overpayment. Summary: $50 repair cost me over $275 which is obscene. How this service lists these guys with 5 stars might tell you something about the rating service because it surely doesn't tell you anything about Capital City. Pros: They may be good if you get the right repairman Cons: If you get the wrong guy, he will engage in trial and error and you will pay for it. more

Bad Business-Avoid, if you can 10/22/2007

My new home came with a kitchen full of new Jenn Air appliances. It also came with a second oven. We noticed that the second oven door did not seem to seal completely. A tech from the installer was called out to look it over, and said the doors do not close tight until they are used, to allow venting. We only need a second oven once a year (Thanksgiving), so when we turned it on, it would not warm up. I noticed that if you held the door closed with your hand (or prop a chair up against the door) it would heat up. We called the manufacturer who sent Capitol City out to do the repairs. They "tightened" the hinges and said everything would work great now. We used the oven again ((+1 year) on Thanksgiving ), and I went to open the door to put in a pie, and the (35#+) door came off in my hands from the (repaired) hinges.\r \r Capitol City refused to admit that they had anything to do with it, and would not repair it now that the repairs were over 6 months old. A call to Jenn Air (Maytag) got more

I was SHOCKED by how bad they were. 10/18/2007

I would have loved to give them ZERO stars, but I don't think you can.\r I can write a very long review, but I'll come right to the point.\r \r 1) The repairman that showed up didn't know his job AND was also rude and obnoxious.\r 2) The repairman told me that there was nothing wrong with my refrigerator and that my problem was imaginary. He also used a trick to convince me that there was nothing wrong with my refrigerator that was so obvious that even I spotted it. \r 3) The owner was even worse. \r 4) Both the repairman and the owner accused me of being drunk and belligerent. The fact is that I haven't had even a drop of alcohol in almost twenty years.\r When I did a BBB search on them I was shocked to discover that they had 19 different complaints over the last 36 months and HAD EVEN HAD THEIR BBB MEMBERSHIP REVOKED.\r 5) I found a different repair service, Trio TV & Appliance in Lancaster. They not only FOUND the problem with my refrigerator, they FIXED IT. So much for my "imaginary" probl more
