I'm a big fan - I know...I feel bad because I should be supporting the small businesses. But, when you're having a hectic morning/day - there's nothing more comforting that knowing what you're going to get! When I have stopped at other cafés for my espresso, I am, 98% of the time, disappointed. I happen to LOVE the flavor at Starbucks, and find other places taste burnt to me...it's all relative, I suppose. But, I know that no matter what city I'm in, if/when I find a Starbucks, that I'll have a cool place to sit and enjoy my little bit of liquid heaven.
