I have been to the Fantastic Umbrella Factory over the years and find that although changes have occurred, they have not ruined the place. Just as a forest or woods grows new trees and changes based on the environment around it, the factory has evolved to fit this world. It began as a hippie-type commune selling wares of the people who inhabited the land. I remember buying my first omlet pan in one of their stores after a wonderful meal of johnny cakes. I can still get the johnny cakes, but the pan would cost a lot more than I paid. There are things now to cleanse your home from negativity like sage, herbs, bells, and other things that one might call New Age, but that have been used by grandmothers of long ago of Western and Eastern Indian families. Some things may have come from China, but like the items from India or Peru they are quaint additions which I would gladly bring into my home to learn the culture. This United States has become a multicultural place and the Factory has kept pace while still retaining its quaint Rhode Island atmosphere and transporting me back to when I used to visit in my younger years buying incense and walking among the wildflowers. Don't count it a loss. It still has much to give.
