What a great place to go take the kids in the middle of the night on weekends! Or yourself and a date if there's nothing much else to do and you're in the neighborhood. It's pretty nice for out of town guests too. They have an "earthquake sundae", I think that's what it's called -- a huge sundae, with everything on it, which 4 people can share and there'll still be leftovers. more

Some of the best San Francisco chocolate 4/11/2006

Ghirardelli Chocolate offers a variety of chocolate near the Wharf. They have a large selection of chocolate products, the best of which is probably there ice cream. There prices are a little bit high, but from time to time it won't make you feel that it is that expensive. Ghirardelli is an original San Francisco treat. Stop by if your in the area, you won't feel disappointed. more

Family friendly place! 4/10/2006

I wanted to go just to get chocolate to take back home, but occurred to me that Ghirardelli is now available in most grocery stores now. We went anyways, and treated ourselves to some of the best sundaes ever. Not cheap, mind you, at $6.95 each (you can request a single scoop sundae for $4.95- great for kids) The service was great, and there was no wait to get a seat (we went at about 7pm). My daughter thought the original chocolate making machines were interesting, and learned a little bit about the process of how chocolate is made. more

Yummy yummy, a chocolate factory. And not just any old chocolate factory, the World wide know Ghirardelli! This is a really interesting place no doubt, and its great for that secret sweet tooth. Go to their wonderful cafe, its always FULL of people but its not that bad. Maybe a ten minute wait. (they also have these cafes in a couple other places around the coutry.) You order the best ice cream or hot coco or whatever else that you have ever had. Prices arent small (maybe $8 a plate) but its so worth it. You can also see a huge hoard of hot chocolate ( no not the drink, the substance itself!!!) You will not be able to resist. more

Original Ghirardelli store 8/22/2005

This is the only place to stays open late at night, so a lot of people go there to hang out. This is also a family friendly place, so can you see lots of children. This is also the only chocolate store that has the chocolate processor where you can see in the store. The best thing on the menu is the original sundae. more
