The food was great. The service was pretty good also. The food came out fairly quickly. This is a good restaurant to just eat and have a conversation.

Marvelous Monday 7/21/2008

Imagine my surprise when going for a nice dinner on Monday to find a hidden happy hour gem. My girlfriend and I went to Z'Tejas up North and had one of the best dining experience while watching the sun set over the hill country from their huge outdoor patio. We split a couple of apps not knowing they were half price all night on Mondays and finished up with the seafood enchiladas that were awesome. I will def be back for another Monday. more

Good food, great margaritas 5/21/2008

What I like about Z'Tejas is that nothing is a real let down on the menu and the service is always cheerful. Not to mention their margaritas will pretty much knock you on your b-hind with their delicious flavor, two is plenty... The Texas Treo app is always good and I tend to stick to the specials although there are a few things on the menu I like quite a bit as well. Even has a good burger if Grandpa doesn't want to have a "Fa-Gee-Ters". This place is in a standard rotation for the wife and I - even good for kids/families. more

EXCELLENT food, fast service & great atmosphere! 3/31/2008

My husband, 2-year old son & I recently went to Z'Tejas after a friend told us how delicious the food was. We were HIGHLY impressed with the entire visit there! We visited on a Sunday evening & got sat immediately. Our waitress (whose name was April & was VERY knowledgeable about the menu) greeted us quickly & had waters to our table in what seemed like just 1 minute after we sat down! We enjoyed fresh cornbread & chips and queso before our meal arrived. I HIGHLY suggest the Chicken Mac & Cheese (it has a more fancy name than this but I can't remember it); it wasn't too spicy & was the melt-in-your-mouth mac & cheese that I wish I could bake at home! My husband had pork & said it was delicious as well! (Try the raspberry hibiscus iced tea for a refreshing summer drink as well!!) \r \r All-in-all, I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice, quiet place for dinner. They had a beautiful patio out back that seemed to be popular, but we opted to eat inside this visit. more

Fabulous food - A great Austin find 9/9/2007

My group of 30+ recently dined here on a Saturday afternoon. We had made reservations without any problems on very short notice. The atmosphere, while noisy at times, is very relaxed and friendly. Our orders and drinks were taken promptly and the food was delivered hot and delicious. Without a doubt, I would recommend the Mango Mojito. It's one of the best mojito's I've had in Austin. I've also tried their margaritas, and they're a bit too strong for my tastes. I asked my waitress for entree recommendations, and the Miso Grilled Salmon as well as the Smoked Chicken Chile Relleno are their most popular dishes. I've had both on separate occasions, and while the salmon was buttery soft and well seasoned, the flavor of the chicken relleno was much more memorable. It's what Tex-Mex is all about! Be sure to check out the view of the hills on their patio. I'll definetly be back to the Z'tejas in the Arboretum. Pros: Friendly, Great for groups, Delicious food Cons: Noisy at times more

Are We in France? 8/22/2007

A large group of coworkers wanted to meet up for dinner. Since we all lived in different locations around Austin, I recommended Z Tejas due to it's central location . The atmosphere was enjoyable. The staff was considerate and polite with relatively quick service. However, as the meals were set in front of each person, I noticed looks of disappointment. Everybody commented about the incredible small portion sizes. When you can see more plate than food at the prices we were paying, you can see why there was such disappointment. The majority of the group did not care for the taste of the food either and said they would never return. I personnally enjoyed the food but agree about the skimpy portions. Since it was my idea do go there, I felt very guilty that nobody was enjoying their meal. If you are hungry, I would not go. However, if you are dieting, skip the appetizers, and enjoy your Weight Watchers Portions. Pros: Ambience Cons: French size portions more

Definitely a must go to!!! 4/28/2007

This place was GREAT! We did not make reservations but we were seated in less than 20 minutes on a Friday night. While we waited at the bar the bar waitstaff was attentive to us and our needs. We had a great table out on the patio and the Snapper dish is the WAY TO GO. Even the cornbread while different was good. And I have to mention that the Margaritas are some of the best that I have ever had. I would definitely go back and that's from a hard core Texas girl who knows TexMex flavas. Pros: Margaritas, Snapper Cons: none more
