Win's Restaurant

This neighborhood restaurant has been around for many years. They closed for remodeling earlier this year but we stopped by for take-out the other day & the place didn't look any different. The front shop has Chinese BBQ items you can purchase to go. I like their roast pork w/crunchy skin, not overly salted but the piece of pork was on the fatty side. Their roast duck is also very good. Their won ton noodle soups are very good (you can also order w/roast duck/pork with it). We like their take-out rice/noodle dishes. It's not fine dining, but on a small budget and if looking for a quick meal or take-out, this place is better than most in the Sunset. Their prices have increased a dollar or so since their remodeling. Pros: fast service, good food, good BBQ items Cons: parking a little hard, hole in the wall more

This little place in Sunset serves some of the best wontons and roast ducks in town. Their menu is large for the size of the restaurant, and it offers everything from Chinese BBQ to family size dishes. I like their wontons the most because unlike many other restaurants that stuff their wontons with plenty of meat and little shrimp, Win's stuffs their wontons with big fresh shrimps that make a big difference when they are eaten. Their Chinese BBQ is excellent too. In short, delicious! more

What I love about this place is their large variety of rice plates. They serve hearty portions of rice and meats and veggies. The rice plate I favor is the roast duck over rice. The pot stickers here are also very well made. Unlike some restaurants where the pot stickers don't have a lot of meat and are stuffed with a lot of cabbage or lettuce, theirs are well marinated ground pork with a good ginger flavor. It is out of the way in the outer Sunset, but it's is well worth a try. more
