Best

Best crispy spring rolls I have had since I was in Vietnam. When I was station there I used to go to the homes of several of the Vietnamese women's homes who worked on our compou...

I have been a long time customer of the Vietnam Restaurant when I lived in Philadelphia. The food is great, the restaurant is clean, and service is quick. However, I did not app...

Wonderful food, great price 7/20/2004

I took my cousin, who's lived in Vietnam, to this restaurant for dinner, and she's still raving about how good it was...and how reasonable. My favorites are the soups, the vegetarian spring rolls, and the spicy shrimp. The only downside is that this place really fills up for dinner. I tend to get there early, just so I don't have to wait. more

The Best Lunch Date Restaurant in Town 4/20/2004

This may be the greatest lunch date restaurant I've ever been to. The food is great. The prices are about the same as the linoleum-floored, garishly lit, noisy noodle joints on every block in Chinatown. But Vietnam has the classy look and feel of a much more expensive restaurant. If you take a date tell her to let you do the ordering. That way she won't know how little you spent on her! BTW, the vermicelli dishes are served with hot meats (beef, pork, chicken etc.) But the vermicelli itself is about room temperature. You could think the waiter let your dish get cold if you didn't know that's how it's supposed to be served. Pros: Classy, Inexpensive, Great Food more

Highly Recommend 9/5/2003

Went to Vietnam Restaurant on a Friday night. Place was busy but still only a 30 minute wait. Definitely the best spring rolls I've ever had and you can't beat the price. more

Great! 7/23/2003

I love Pho. Great, cheap, filling, yet light dish. I ate at this restaurant with a couple of friends, and found there Pho to be great. I also loved the atmosphere and the fact that they made cha gio without pork as a vegetarian option. However, I would recommend other vietnamese restaurants for their better value and bigger portions. The atmosphere is great, however, if you don't mind sitting in a wood paneled restaurant, you can get cheaper eats, a size selection, and great food at other vietnamese restaurants. I would recommend Pho Ha, or Pho 75 on Washington Ave. more

Third floor view at dusk... 7/21/2003

is not to be missed. This joint is such a great value. Great beer and wine list. Avoid the entrees and just order a bunch of appetizers, it's much more interesting that way especially with a group of four or more. Veggy spring rolls are amazing as are the shrimp skewers. Standard Chinatown service, a bit rushed. And this plce can get noisy so don't bring your wife here t dump her; she might not get the message. Pros: Ambiance, appetizer variety, buzz more

Superb! 3/14/2003

Vietnam Restaurant is a winner. A few of my friends and I had never had Vietnamese food, and we did not want to waste our money - but we took a gamble. Besides going on birth control, I have never made such a good decision. The food was amazing, better than Chinese. (Highly recommend the Sweet and Sour and Lime Chicken.) I have no idea why we went to war with these people...I LOVE THEM! Pros: Food out fast, Quickly seated, Awesome atmosphere Cons: Hard parking more

Pleasant Surprise 3/1/2003

We went to this restaurant not knowing what to expect since we had not eaten Vietnamese before. We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of food in the portions, the quality (not greasy) and the flavoring was solid. For the money, forget about eating Chinese and go with Thai or Vietnamese! Pros: Inexpensive, Healthy Portions, Great Flavor Cons: Parking, Location more

great food -- great prices 2/7/2003

This place is awesome. The atmosphere is nice, the prices are more than reasonable, and the food is excellent. Try the lime chicken. Pros: inexpensive, great atmosphere, great food Cons: no parking, kind of slow service, sometimes crowded. more

Good Times 1/29/2003

This past weekend was my first time at Vietnam Restaurant, and I have to say I think it is one of my favorite restaurants in Philly. The service was great and the food was even better. I went there with a large party in the early evening on a Saturday, and we didn't have to wait long to get a seat. It is truely a hidden treasure. more

amazing service!!! 1/15/2003

the food is excelent and the service is incredible. i spilled a water, and before i could pick up the glass, two waiters were there with towels! its one of my favorite places to go in chinatown! Pros: amazing service, huge selection, great food Cons: little parking more

Great food at a great price! 1/8/2003

Vietnam Restaurant never fails! They serve tasty food in plentiful amounts, keep a clean Bombay Company type ambiance, and end with an affordable bill. Definitely try the BBQ sampler when you go. Other favs are the Pho and their lemon grass soups. Vietnam Restaurant's affordability and great tasting food keeps me coming back almost once a week! more

beats across the street 11/19/2002

I prefer this restaurant to the one across the street for many reasons. The food is always top-notch, the service is swift and friendly, and the atmosphere is just a little cozier than the diner-like ambience found across the street. It is true that you usually have to wait for table here, but it is worth it. more

WOW! 10/28/2002

what a pleasant surprise. The food was wonderful. It was one of the few times everyone we were with enjoyed their meal. We all shared and I liked everything I tried. The decor was modern, clean and well lit. The best surprise was the price. This place is one of the best kept secrets going, but not for long. I highly recommend this place to anybody.! more

A sure thing. 10/6/2002

My friends and I have probably been to Vietnam 6 times each, and we're not a bunch that makes repeat visits. You simply cannot go wrong: the quality of food, the atmosphere, the price; all are right on. Try the fried rice with sausage and shrimp and the pork spring rolls, and you simply cannot miss the rice pudding with corn. It's amazing. Pros: inexpensive, excellent menu, very fast service Cons: crowded more

Tasty & Inexpensive 8/20/2002

If you go, skip the entree and go for a combination of soups and appetizers, which are just amazing. My favorites: any of the pho soups...and fresh rolls, grilled grapeleaves which are stuffed with fresh sausage, and grilled meatballs that you wrap like a burrito in super thin rice pancakes. DEEEE Lish. more
