US BANK Horror story 11/13/2008

US Bank is the worst bank I've ever had to deal with. The staff at the Van Ness branch was OK, but I think they are too junior and poorly trained. Plus some of them might just be a little incompetent, but that's normal, everywhere is like that. Now the company and its infrastructure is the real problem. \r \r My bad experience was that they refused to cash a cashier check issued by them!, yes by a US Bank branch. So in order for me to use the money I had to deposit the cashier check back into a newly opened account and wire the money to a different bank (a real one) where I could actually cash a check. Did that, but guess what? part of the money vanished during the wire transfer! I had to go through so much pain to track it down (everyone was pointing the finger at someone else, yet still my money was gone), and it turns out US bank was to blame. Shame on them. I had to file a complaint with the OCC in order to get my money back. Terrible experience in my case. Run away.\r more

Apathetic, Rude, and Incompetent 6/14/2006

I switched from Bank of America to US Bank under the impression that I would receive superior customer service and more communication from my personal bankers regarding financial options.\r \r I was so far off the mark it isn't even funny. Customer Service is unhelpful and borders on incompetent (not once has the person I was first connected to able to help me with any issue or finance-relatd question.) The Manager, and Personal Bankers at the Castro Branch in particular are apathetic and, if you have a problem, downright rude.\r \r I have never expected anyone in any bank to do more than know their job and begin a transaction with the minimum of amicable service... I'm aghast at this bank and surprised it retains any clients at all.\r \r In the end, I will close my account after less than 6 months and open another with a bank that's at least trying to do its job. Pros: Standard Banking Hours Cons: insufficient tellers, rude bankers, no parking more
