Teeny, Serviceable Trader Joe's 5/21/2006

Boylston Street is a great location for a Trader Joe's - near the T, opposite a Star Market (for more basic needs). This TJ's has a huge freezer case with its terrific vegetables, burritos, pizza, and emergency "company's coming!" foods. It also has a decent basic selection of the usual pet food, bulk nuts and dried fruits, snacks, breads, plants and vitamin supplements. Nice to have a taste of this in such a businessy area. No alcohol at this location - you'll have to go across the river for "two buck Chuck." more

Trader Joe's 5/7/2006

Trader Joe's is a back-up dry goods and produce store with a great wine selection thrown in. They are a national chain with a fine neighborhood feel. They have alot of store brands that are priced like generics but have a quality seal of approval related to them. The help is extremely friendly. You cannot quite get a full range for healthy diet as with Whole Foods but it is a solid second store for staples and selected quality or gourmet items. more

One Large Freezer Section 4/15/2006

This Trader Joe's lacks many of the amenities of larger locations. For example, you can't find wine here. However, it's still useful for the Back Bay crowd with its large selection of pre-packaged and pre-made foods. Everything is exactly like how you would expect it: tasty and cheap. The only downside is this place is cramped and feels like one giant freezer section. However, it very nicely complements the nearby Whole Foods and Shaw's. more

Possibly the tiniest Trader Joe's ever 4/15/2006

The selection on non-perishable foods is pretty big, but otherwise this is one of the worst Trader Joe's I've ever been to. The space is so small! The staples are there at least, but don't expect too much. The inventory's pretty limited as Trader Joes' goes. Try their frozen cheddar and broccoli quiches, they're yummy. They also sell cheap frozen edamame. Nice food for cheaper than Whole Foods prices. more

Vegetarian foods for cheap 4/12/2006

I get a lot of my vegetarian foods here at Trader Joes. I especially love their veggie meatballs and Nirvana burgers. They also sell a lot of the vegetarian foods you find at the regular grocery store for lower prices. I have been to the TJs on Boylston street and it is very small. I would recommend that if you have a car, go to the one in Brookline. They sell wine and all of the TJ favorites. If you do not have a car, this store is just fine. They have all of the favorites cramped into a small space but it works. more

Come Here For Unique Groceries 3/20/2006

I love all the trader joes locations, but this one used to be the closest one for me. This is a small location than the one in Brookline, but still has the same great products. I love the soy cheese, pumpkin seed bread, california veggie burgers, and soycatash. Those items have become our staples whenever we get a chance to do a trader joes run. This location can get pretty crowded on weekends and around rush-hour on the week-days, so I recommend going during non-peak hours to avoid playing bumper-baskets with other shoppers. more

Very cool health food store 10/8/2005

This is a cool little health food store. You can find just about anything healthy in here from organic to low calorie. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and somewhat quirky (in a positive way). It is located on convenient Newbury Street but dont let the street fool you. This place is far from pretentious. If you bring your own bags, they will provide you a discount on your purchases! Pros: knowledgeable staff, abundance of health foods Cons: not great parking but decent location for the T more

A market with reasonable prices 9/30/2005

If you want international food at a reasonable price, this is the place. They have really great packaged European desserts. The prices are very affordable. Sometimes if you're lucky, you'll get to sample their new products. A lot of the products are quite exotic and tasty. You can also find a lot of organic products. There are a lot of food you can find in this store and not others. The people that work there are very friendly. more

Stuff you can't find anywhere else! 9/19/2005

I love TJ's because they have all sorts of items that you can't find anywhere else! They have wonderful pantry items, such as chutneys and soups, and also have a great freezer section that has any type of prepared meal that you could want, from italian to asian, to indian! I couldn't do my everyday grocery shopping here, because they don't have a lot of the standard brands, but it's a great place to browse and pick up things you'd never find at a regular supermarket. more

Trader Joe's 7/25/2005

Riding down the escalator into Trader Joes is like taking a trip to another world. You escape the busy streets of downtown Boston and enter into a world of organic bliss. I have been shopping at Trader Joe's since my first week in Boston and have never been disappointed. The wide selection of produce, frozen foods and coffee and tea always result in me spending more money than I had planned, but leaving the store a happy girl. My favorites include the Miss Meringue cookies and any kind of sorbet they have. more
