An experience from last year at the outdoor Swing Night at the Boston Harbor Hotel:
There's a band on the float in front of the outdoor stone gazebo every Wednesday. We got a table at Intrigue, the outdoor cafe, while people lined up to get tables along the water and cushions for the stairs.
The people watching at Rowes Wharf is by far the best in Boston. In my opinion, it is rivaled only by Au Bon Pain in Harvard Square. Fanueil Hall does not even deliver the entertainment of some of the oddities that appear here on the waterfront. Women with knee-length green hawaiian print skits and white knee socks, men with polyester 3 sizes too small tank tops, handsome men with girlish shoulder length cornrows....the free-spirited, the overly pretentious, the wealthy yet low-class....it's all here folks.
We sat and lounged over dinner with cocktails and then a few beers. Our waiter was unattentive, the food mediocre and very overpriced. But the sounds of Frank Sinatra wafted over to our little table, a warm and beautiful night, a cold beer, and sights abound. A wonderful way to spend a Wednesday.
So, for a nice evening out, go down to the hotel, get there early, grab a cushion, and listen to some blues or swing for free. Try to avoid the restaurant and just grab something to eat beforehand. They also show movies, so check it out.

This is a newish boutique hotel. There is a hipper-than-thou feel to it. It is avant-garde in design, small, luxurious. Probably perfect if that's the kind of hotel you like.
But there's nothing really boston-y about it. Why not stay in B. Hill somewhere if you've bothered to come to the city?
If you are a rich elitist hipster, this may be the place for you. Liveried hipster staff.
But if you want low overhead, you can find something that does not whisk you away to elitist la la land.

Most people equate a trip to the post office about the same as they would a trip the registry of motor vehicles.
But a trip to the Kenmore Square Post Office is usually fast and very enjoyable. It's mostly because of the staff who seem like they've been there forever. They know how to manage the different needs (and crazy questions) of people as diverse as an international student from BU to a local-yocal to the snarky meter maid that I see there all the time.
They have PO Boxes that you can rent. Self-service postage machines and scales are also available. If you forget your boxes, you can buy one (even pretty ones to fancy up your package) at the branch.
The one bad thing is that their hours have recently been decreased so they close the doors at 6 PM on weeknights. But they are open on Saturday until 12 noon.

Stepping in the beautifully restored lobby, you feel like you've stepped back in history. Once you step in the rooms, you'll know you haven't. Amenities including high speed internet await you.
You don't have to stay for long before the doorman knows your name. The staff is fantastic.

Continental Airlines used to lose luggage hourly. They have improved greatly over the years. They are the only airline I am aware of that has climate controle cabin space for shipping live animal. Most smart breeders use this airline because of that. They have thier own pet check it, they have it down to a science. They really do a great job.

It is very ghetto...the bus is small but is relatively inexpensive. It is much cheaper than those greyhound buses. The bathroom in there smells, though. I would not recommend sitting in the back. They give one pit stop between Boston and New York City and vice versa, too. If you are on a budget and want to travel, then this is the bus for you.

This is a fairly recent travel agency that opened in Chinatown. They offer a nice service with the heart to really help customers to find the cheaper tickets available and the better deals that other agencies may not do as well as they would. They also offer service to help customers to get visas as well.

I was recommended with this service by my friends but I wasnt even sure if I can trust it yet. It is so hard to catch a taxi around the area that I work. One day I had to catch quick transportation to go to a friend's party and asked him what was the best way I can get there and he helped me call a cab that I have never heard of. Although my friend paid for the cab fee, I did like the service because the driver was on time. The only bad part is that he talks to you too much when you are in his car. So weird.
