Best

This is probably the best bar in Baltimore. Not only is the bar amazing to look at but the food is out of this world! The bangbang shrimp and the crab dip pizza are just mouth wat...

Worst

Been to Owl Bar for drinks & appetizers & loved it. But, this was NOT a night for trying dinner: oversold crowd, inexperienced waitress, & kitchen chaos. Had a 7PM reservation & l...

STAY AWAY! 12/9/2012

The owl bar was the worst experience of my dining life. Awful, just awful. Our party of four was there for almost two hours and were not able to order entrees. Our appetizers were a mess. Three of five were wrong number four never hit the table, after an hour and a half of waiting we had it boxed up before it hit the table. Number 5 is still in orbit somewhere. Waiter just just plain angry that he had to wait on our table and it showed. No silverware, water , salt pepper NOTHING, we were limited to one round of drinks. The waiter simply would not come near our table. AWFUL JUST AWFUL STAY AWAY STAY AWAY! more

The Owl Bar is a hoot! 2/26/2010

Good: Pizza, paninis, oversized martinis. Bad: Off the beaten path (which I guess is also kind of good?). Improvements: More salads, better beer selection. Other: Amazing atmosphere, really one of a kind and quirky. Service was really good and our pizza and paninis were amazing.. more

Great, upscale restaurant and bar 3/17/2006

The Owl Bar is a fantastic place to sit back and sip on a martini while gossiping with friends. The atmosphere is upscale and very art deco, making for an overall chic feel. Prices run from moderate to expensive for the menu and full bar choices. While I don't think this is the place to make your regular hangout, it's great for a special occasion or for a friendly, upscale get-together. more

Unique and enjoyable hangout 8/17/2005

The Owl Bar, which is part of the Belvedere Hotel, is a great joint for dinner and/or drinks. The ambience is great...I believe it used to be a speakeasy, so it has a very 1930s feel to it. It's classy and understated, and the perfect place to go if you feel like sipping cocktails and having quiet conversations on a weekend night. The food is also good and reasonably priced if you feel like catching dinner there as well. more

Editorial
  • In Short
A laid-back counterpart to the trendy 13th-floor nightclub upstairs, the bar has served Baltimorians since the early 1900s. Brick-patterned walls, tables and dark wood and brass finishes create a warm setting for mingling young professionals and couples. Friendly, knowledgeable bartenders mix an array of drinks at this amply-stocked bar. Many patrons sip large martinis, while others opt for the impressive selection of beers on tap, including hard-to-find local brews. A wood-burning stove serves up gourmet pizzas, and a raw bar serves hungry patrons late into the night.
