Worst

Best in the nation? Absurd. Best in Austin? The food doesn't deserve to make the top 10. Fun place to see a show - you bet. Stubb's gets great acts and has some amazing shows....

What's the big deal 8/7/2010

I don't really get the big deal, I went here with my boyfriend for lunch last week and the bbq wasn't that great (mainly the ribs were dry). In fact, it was VERY overpriced for the amount of food they give you. Also, the staff really does seem unapproachable. Haven't been there to see a show yet, so my views of it may change later, but for now I wouldn't be a regular. more

Staffitude 9/7/2009

We dropped into Stubbs on Saturday as one of my favorite concert DVD's was filmed there I just wanted to look over the venue. OMG, the staff! These people are just full of themselves. I had wondered why the word ""Stubbs"" muttered on Sixth Street caused so many wrinkled noses, now I know. You'd think they were the talent instead of being the ones to wait on the talent! Too bad because visually it's easy on the eye! Pros: Great Building Cons: Staff more

Worst Service in Austin 4/30/2009

Can't believe the rudeness of the waitress. Having marvelled at US style service, it was hugely disappointing to receive such poor attention. From wrong delivery of order, to late delivery of food, to having to ask sevceral times for items and a 'couldn't care less' attitude. The food was OK. The manager was just as bad as the waitress. Cons: Staff attitudes more

Great Music OK Food 11/10/2008

Came down for the Los Lonely Boys Concert, which by the way was fantastic and Stubb's outdoor concert stage in the back was a reat place to watch and listen to music, A+. Now the food - ribs and chicken were OK, but the sides and appetizers needed a lot more taste than what was presented to us. The portions are difinitely small, surprisingly coming from a Texas B-B-Q joint and especially for the price your paying for them. Come here for the music, but you can find better elsewhere if you have the time. Pros: Music Venue Cons: Appetizers and Sides need flavor more

worse service, the manager is very rude 9/7/2008

My friends and I got really sick when we ate here and when I wrote a letter demanding an apology this is the manager's response: Pros: location Cons: food quality, service, ambience, value more

best BBQ ever 9/2/2008

The great thing about Stubb's is that they actually smoke their meats for over 16 hours- unlike most other companies that just put on some liquid smoke and throw the meat in the oven. Pros: Checp, Great food and Fab Atmosphere more

Best Brunch 9/2/2008

I can't name a better brunch experience in Austin. The gospel performers are always great and the food is good, but should be better. We've always loved their sauce and regularly send it to folks for Christmas, so we get a lot of Out of Texas visitors that want to check the place out when they visit. Don't go on a show night looking for a quick meal, as sometimes the place is sold out for their big amphitheater and the lines to get in are enourmous. Pros: Music lineup, gospel bands Cons: bathrooms and food could be improved more

YUCK! 8/20/2008

I'm not sure why this place gets such good reviews? It's either the alcohol, the name or live music that keeps people coming back? Horrible food! Some of the worse BBQ in Austin--close to Iron Works! Don't go here! Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything! more

Terrible BBQ, great venue 8/6/2008

I'm rating this place solely on the food aspect. Terrible. I mean just bad. Cons: Bad food more

I <3 STUBBS 1/3/2008

Some of the BEST shows I've EVER been to were at Stubbs. Awesome atmosphere, the sound is always good, and the drinks were strong! As a vegetarian I cant speak for the meat, but as for everything else, I totally recommend it! Pros: great live acts coming though all the time Cons: cant think of any. more

stubb's is avg 6/11/2007

Okay, first of all Stubb's is a music venue and a restaurant. Their restaurant seemed a bit overpriced for average texas bbq I would have to admit, however their music venue is great. There is an outside and inside stage, and the bands that have played their are usually well known in the music scene. Their list of lineups throughout the years seem to consist of mainly a rock type of aura- which i find enjoyable. Pros: Music Cons: crowded more

great music and food 11/20/2006

this place is an austin staple, especially for the quality music acts that come here. i have seen medeski martin and wood here and the sound was good. the BBQ rocks and the staff was helpful. keep your eye on the music calendar at stubb's more

Average at best 11/20/2006

Stubbs has made a name for itself with its sauce. The restaurant has turned into corporate HQ, and actually serves as a much more reputable concert venue than eatery. The portions are less than expected from a Texas BBQ joint, and the prices are more like a sit down Italian meal than a down home picnic table place. The food isn't terrible, but it's probably about the 8th or 9th best BBQ joint in Austin...at best. Pros: Cool ambience, good downtown location Cons: Way overpriced and food is only average. more

Amazing Sunday Brunch 9/26/2006

My husband I were visiting Austin last weekend and we decided to go to the Gospel Sunday Brunch. It was so great! Great live music and yummy food!!! more

AWESOME tourist stop 6/6/2006

I visited Austin with my wife last year and I have to say this place was our absolute favorite. It may be uncool for locals but for us -- the brunch was great, the music was awesome. I especially enjoy a brunch where the chafing dishes are small, so fresh replacements keep coming out! Migas, biscuits, chicken, ribs, brisket, amazing little fruit tarts -- they had a full bbq brunch and I just couldn't believe how good it was. Pros: Brunch selection, brunch quality, music more

Somewhat disappointing 3/13/2006

We had some very good sides. The meat was okay, except for the brisket which was dry and flavorless. I was a bit disappointed and don't plan to go back. There are much better options for barbecue in Austin. Pros: good sides Cons: poor brisket more

Great BBQ,Great Acts..Fried Gold. 3/13/2006

Stubbs BBQ is truely old-school, bare bones, west texas BBQ brought to the big city. Its chicken isnt marinated in lime juice and jalepenos, neither does the beef or pork get an ancho-chili rubdown before its cooked. Its base BBQ, cooked over mesquite wood and flavored with a great sauce. Add to the fact you have one of the best perfomance facilities in town and you have yourself a true slice of fried gold. Pros: Great BBQ, Excellent Music Venue, Excellent Staff Cons: It Can Get Crowded more

Great music and food 6/25/2003

Stubb's consistently has great music and good BBQ. The prices are reasonable for both. The outdoor venue for music is one of the best in town. The Gospel Brunch is a must do for anyone visiting town that likes music, but doesn't want to stay out late. Pros: Great Music, Good BBQ more

Stubb's good, not great 5/22/2003

Best in the nation? Absurd. Best in Austin? The food doesn't deserve to make the top 10. Fun place to see a show - you bet. Stubb's gets great acts and has some amazing shows. Come for the shows, but don't stay for the food. You can get better 'q at chain restaurants than Stubb's. If you're looking for barbecue, go to the Salt Lick or Ironworks. If you've got Yankees in town, take 'em to Stubb's for the music and atmosphere -they'll feel comfortable with the lousy service and the below average food. Pros: music, bookings, outdoorstage Cons: food, service, food more

It's about the BBQ not the music! 1/8/2003

Stubbs is a trendy little place that is way over rated it you're rating the BBQ only. The music is great, but if you want great BBQ eat somewhere else and then go to Stubbs for Music and cold beer! Pros: Great music Cons: Poor BBQ, parking awful more
