RUDEST SERVICE EVER; otherwise a popular place to work 10/9/2010

I admit that I go to St. Marks because of the convenience-- and only the convenience. I find it's usually a good place to work, I usually run into someone I know, and I like the natural light. That said, SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. Today I witnessed a barista roll his eyes at a customer blatantly, and later, when there was a big crash behind the bar, he came up to my acquaintance (who does not know him that well and had nothing to do with the crash) and actually asked him to help clean up and walked away before he could answer! A bit unprofessional. I know that the service industry is trying, I've worked in it. But please, try and be polite! And if you don't like people, consider getting a desk job instead. more

Service was fine, great coffee 1/24/2010

Frequent the coffee shop - good pastries, wonderful coffee. Unfortunately there are quite a few douchebag hipsters in Denver and, as someone has previously said a good deal of inane conversation that is distracting at best. If you're looking for people who want a side of pretention with their coffee, the crowd is indeed there, along with their ironic trucker hats and black framed glasses. Pros: Great coffee and pastries, nice patio Cons: Hipsters more

Rude Service! 7/17/2009

I use to love going there and usually dealt with the rude service. I won't return now. I went in and while I was waiting in line I answered my phone. I know your thinking that that is rude, but the second I was asked what I wanted I said, ""can I get a--"" I was cut off by the employee and told ""Get off the phone. Next."" I was wasting no one's time. I work in the service industry and that was extremely rude! Even if I was being rude in any way, I'm still the customer and won't return now. more

So-so 5/4/2009

I live near this coffeeshop and have been here a few times. The baristas are old hipsters with braces and everytime I go, I get the same coffee but for some reason, it tastes different every time. I guess they're not consistent in their craft. Not a lot of places to plug in laptops either. If the cafe is pretty sparse, then you'll definitely find a place to plug in your laptop. One thing that really stinks though is so many damn hipsters come to this place!! Them and their inane conversations drives me crazy. At least the coffee's good. Pros: Free wifi Cons: hipsters more

dushbag michael/ned, or whatever his name is 4/13/2009

Wow, I went into this place last saturday (4/11) and I was amazed at how rude the barista was. I spend a lot of time in coffee shops so I know that surly is the norm for baristas (although I have never understood what they have to be so cocky about; I mean making coffee at 30 isn't amazing anyone). However, this guy was just a dushbag through and through. I asked for an espresso macchiato and he served me a cappuchino (it was in a cappuccino cup and it was roughly 1/3 milk, 1/3 foam, 1/3 espresso). I politely asked him if they maked their espresso differently at Saint Mark's and he just walked away from me. I waited for him to come back because my girlfriend still needed to pay and I asked him what the difference was between my drink and a cappuccino and he responded without looking me in the eyes, ""more foam"". He clearly hadn't made me a latte macchiato so I said that's odd because the portions seem to be roughly what is called for in a cappuccino and this is a cappuccino cup. And he finally stared at me and yoller, ""this ain't a starbucks, man!"" Yeah, well, no sh!t dushbag, but that is why you should know what an espresso macchiato is. My actual response was ""My understanding of a traditional macchiato is that it is an espresso with a dollop of foam or if you want it seattle-style they will pour a bit of foam into it; either way, it should be a tiny bit of foam."" He just smirked and said, ""on what planet man?"" I later asked for his name and he said ""ned"" but when I called to talk to the manager, another barista said his name was michael (tall, skinny douche with a pony tail). So the douchbag was too much of a b to even give me his name. Bottom line: the guy didn't know his espresso and was a rude douche. Plus, even if I was some naive coffee shop customer, you think a barista could take a few seconds to explain their understanding of the difference and make sure the customer is getting what they ask for. I don't need to be yelled at by some loser barista who doesn't know the difference between a cappuccino and a macchiato. To make it all worse, the espresso pull wasn't any good. Cons: terrible service, starbucks understanding of coffee more

Great coffee & atmosphere... rude service 9/9/2008

Love the ambience and coffee... service is iffy. more

The best cappuccino outside of Italy 5/23/2008

If you love coffee, I mean really love coffee then St. Mark's Coffee House is the place for you. Besides using Fair Trade, they have real Baristas that make truly superior espressos. My favorite barista is Giovanni. His cappuccinos are a work of art and his espresso shots have wonderful tan colored crema. Always a well-shot espresso. High quality espresso joints have a saying: ""No crema, no serva."" . The cafe is quaint & comfortable with a nice outdoor seating area. So if you long to use the words small, medium or large when ordering your cup of coffee then give St. Mark's a try they won't disappoint. more

Worst Service I Have Ever Had 5/14/2008

Before I had this terrible experience I thought St. Marks was a cool place to drink coffee and hang out with friends. I have been there my fair share of times and I would always tip well. Never again!!! Cons: No Ambience more

Favorite coffee shop in Denver 8/15/2007

Love it! Great selection of quality teas and super yummy coffee. Ambiance is great. I feel like I'm in New Orleans and Rome at the same time. It's rich! Pros: Cool ambience, easy enough parking, service Cons: need more comfy chairs more
