Stella's is a great neighborhood place where you feel welcome to linger over a cup of coffee or tea and a book. It's a much nicer atmosphere than the crowded chain coffee stores that are crowded and loud. Here they practically encourage you to linger, and on weekend evenings they even provide live music.
Their iced coffee drinks are some of the best I've had, and it's nice to take one out to the patio on a summer afternoon.

This is the best butcher I have found in the city (and I've looked) It isn't fancy and it isn't cute but the meat is the best. If I have an important meal to cook this is my first stop. The butchers are very knowledgeable and always have good suggestions for what meat to buy and how to cook it. The quality of the meat is far better than I have found elsewhere in Denver.

Argonaut Liquors supplied the beverages for our wedding last summer, and we were really pleased. The prices were very competitive, and we had specific "party consultant" who helped us figure out what we needed. They co-ordinated with our caterer to get the drinks delivered to the site. After the event they even let us return any unopened (resalable) cases for a full refund. This saved us several hundred dollars, and helped us to feel comfortable over-estimating what people would drink. The neighborhood is a little iffy and occasionally you may get approached in the parking lot by someone asking for money etc. You can minimize that by going during the daytime. Argonaut is really one of the best liquor stores in Denver.

They carry a wide assortment of wines and spirits. The store is well organized so it is easy to find what you want. They will even give you a sample if you're not sure if you like a certain kind. The prices are reasonable. Their staff is well informed on the products and very friendly. I would definitely buy wine here again.

I am a huge fan of Sunflower Market. They prove that organic food does not have to be expensive -- their prices should put Whole Foods to shame. I especially love the produce at Sunflower. They have a fantastic array of organic and conventional fruits and veggies. The thing that distinguishes Sunflower Market's produce is that it is always of exceptionally high quality and always reasonably priced. Unlike many supermarkets, there are always employees working visibly in the produce section, restocking and ensuring that their offerings are at peak freshness. They actually can answer your questions about how to pick the best honeydew or what to do with spaghetti squash. A unique feature at Sunflower Market is the bulk section. You can scoop a huge array of foods out of big white bins and get them weighed at the checkout. The bulk food section features every imaginable dried fruit, grain, and flour, even things like pastas and pancake mixes. It feels great to not buy all the extraneous packaging that typically comes with those items. And the candy! Sunflower Market's best-kept secret is that it is the best candy store in town. I never knew that licorice came in so many colors.

Such a refreshing change from the big impersonal chain stores. This place has fresh product, high quality and one-on-one personal service. Organic, natural, simply made products with knowledgeable staff. Their deli in the back offers fresh and varied meal selections with a smile. They have lots of community postings and reading material there, so it has a real neighborhood feel. I often buy a sandwich and then sit out front on the sidewalk in one of their chairs to watch the world go by on Tennyson!

This place is right down the street within walking distance, and I love the feel when you walk in. The people are very helpful and polite, and though the selection is small, it is still preferable to Walgreen's or Rite-Aid.
Something else of note, is that this drug store contains a US post office. I have never seen something like this before, and I suspect it has to do with the closeness of a retirement community. It is very convenient to be able to make a few purchases and mail a package all in the same stop. Very nice!

The layout of this place is huge, but the lot aren't too big. The produce here are in great quality and are very fresh. The employees here are very friendly to you too, you'll get a great service and great experience. The price aren't too shabby and the stuff taste great. The cakes are great for special occasions.

Vitamin Cottage is a family owned, old fashioned health food store, with an emphasis on health. Unlike the way glitzier Whole Foods or even Wild Oats, Vitamin Cottage is not about gourmet treats. There are no fancy produce displays or deli counters. This is a good place to go for vitamins, like the name implies, and for natural skin and hair products. Vitamin Cottage sells natural foods, but the stores are small and the selection narrow.
