I had heard wonderful things about Scissors and decided to see for myself what all the hub bub was about. My hair is long and the blond color had turned brassy. Let me just say that Allison showed me all the wonderful services they offer (way more than I thought)!! Everyone at scissors made me feel at home!! I have never met a more nicer group of people. Now I come to the best part of all. Simone did wonders with my hair. I can truly say my hair has NEVER looked this good!! She is amazing. She took the time to hear what I was looking for in color and cut and made it happen. Not only that she also trained me on styling techniques and how to care for my hair. I learned things I had never known or been taught before. If you want to look and feel like a movie star than this is the place for you!! I will definitely keep coming back here!!\r \r more

\r \r \r \r \r Vanessa Fuzy\r \r #Big ? to all of you at Scissors! Only needed a trim (or so I thought!) Until I met the A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Simone that is! After looking at my hair, showing me some pictures (like she could read my mnd on what I was looking for and discussing my color and lack of demeniton or shine ( no offense was taken)) I completly trusted her and and put my self in her hands... Well worth every penny and given the way I look and felt afterward I consider the cost to be conserative.... As I stood at the register giving Tanisha (sp) my $ I couldn't take my eyes off my image in the mirror and loudly proclaimed to all who could hear "" I have fallen in love with myself""! (okay maaaaybe a bit over the top! but I walked out feeling loved and pampered and oh, so pretty!)\r \r :) more

Where to begin? I flew in from London via New York where I got the worst haircut I've ever had in my life at Ted Gibson salon. The stylist was proud to send me out the door with my ""Justin Bieber"" haircut (I'm 42) and was angry that I wasn't happy with it.\r \r Flew down to Richmond for a day of meetings and on my way to the hotel, stopped by Scissors as I'd read all the great reviews. I popped my head in to ask if they could see me, and although Simone was already booked, and with a client that had driven in 1.5 hours for her appointment, they both generously put their schedule aside to fit me in.\r \r I assumed since they were squeezing me in it would be a quick ""what do you need?"" haircut. Not the case at all. Simone took the time to find out how I ended up in this mess to begin with, and very calmly and creatively cleaned it up perfectly. \r \r As I was getting my hair fixed, employees were entering into the salon (I actually showed up 1 hour before they were open...and she still let me in!) and as each entered, she introduced me to them as if they were part of her family...amazing.\r \r If I ever live in Richmond again, this is where I will be going. The best example of generosity, customer service and being good to other people I've experienced in a long time.\r \r more

Thank God for Scissors! Simone is my hero!!! As a mechanical engineer travel, very hot boiler rooms, steel toed shoes and a hardhat are an integral part of my life. I had almost given up finding a stylist that could style my fine, thin hair in a way that helps me look more like a professional woman rather than ‘Boiler Room Bob’! Simone patiently listened to my needs, assessed my hair type and proceeded to style my hair in such a way that it now requires minimal maintenance and looks great all day. The cherry on top is the ambiance of the salon. Everyone at Scissors is incredibly warm and friendly and the salon itself has a peaceful and calming aura. I highly recommend Scissors to those who are frustrated with bad cuts and impersonal stylists. more

I used to go to Scissors back in late nineties early two thousand, then I moved away for a few years. Lucky, I was able to reconnect with Simmone, and get my hair colored, along with a new style cut that's easy to manage. Left her salon feeling like a million dollars this past week. I have been hesitant to have my hair colored because of bad experiences at other hair salons...Not anymore! I had the PERFECT highlight/color job done. No one else will ever touch my tresses! Atmosphere, professionalism and friendliness make this salon the best! Recommend it highly. more

Allison is hilarious, and Simone is simply a master. Other times I got a haircut, people's comments went like ""oh looks nice"", after Simone finished with me the girls at work are going ""you just got sexier over night"". Guys, you won't be disappointed. more

A few weeks back, I spent a weekend with one of my closest friends who hasn't seen me in a while and here's what she said as soon as she laid her eyes on me: ""Your hair defines you!"" Now, that's not something I've EVER heard before.\r \r It's always been super difficult to find a stylist, even when I lived in NYC, who knows what to do with fine hair. Usually they would just try to convince me to cut it short and it would turn out OK but rarely fantastic. Things are different with Simone. She not only knows how to give a great haircut but has also created the most beautiful highlights I've ever had. Each times I come to Scissors, my hair gets better and better! Simone doesn't just look at your hair; she gets to know you as a person, really listens and understands what you are looking for. She is into products so I was really glad to learn about White Sands from her. The salon has a wonderul feel of being created by someone who loves what she does. I feel pampered every time and can't imagine letting anyone else touch my hair!!! more

Wow. I take great pride in my hair and am very careful with who I go to. Despite living on the east coast for 7 years, I've only gotten my hair done at a salon in Houston that I loved. I no longer have that problem. I've found a new place in Richmond and find it difficult to imagine trusting anyone to do my hair again after being to Simone. I came in one week after getting a bad color job with a list of requests and non-negociables. After a few hours of being pampered in the salon, I left LOVING my color better than I did before the bad color. How is that possible? After about a week the color faded and I saw hints of some brassy colors (which SImone warned may happen because of my previous color). I called the salon to let them know. Simone insisted that I come back in and have her check it out. I was expecting to pay some discounted rate to have it touched up again. Nope, she did my color again for FREE and said that me being 100% happy was her #1 priority. It's been a month and I still love my color. My only complaint is that I love it so much I can't wait my normal length of time to go back in and see what fun things she can do with my cut! SIMONE you're my hero :) more

A few weeks back I had the pleasure of meeting Allison, she had mention that she was a cosmetologist working at Sissors Salon in Richmond. Immediately I told her my horrible recent experiences with the past three salons I had been to. She was so friendly and easy to talk as well as knowledgeable so I decided to make an appointment. I was given a tour of the salon/spa which was so awesome. Allison sat down with me and discussed specially what I liked and what I didn more

Everyone working there is so friendly and introduces themselves as soon as you walk in. The salon itself was beautifully decorated and I loved the leopard print chairs! I had a full color, highlight, and hair cut and it took about an hour and half. Simone sat down with me and discussed specifically what I wanted done and made several helpful suggestions. The coloring application was relatively quick. I was invited to sit in a very comfortable massage chair while my hair processed. My color came out beautifully and better than what I had anticipated. Simone showed me how to style my hair and explained what products she was using throughout the process. They have a great facility with complete spa offerings. Everything was clean and absolutely catered to ensuring the client enjoys their appointment. Finding a place after moving down has been difficult, but now I won't be going anywhere else! more

Decided to try Scissors Hair Studio after reading the reviews here on city search.\r I have very curly hair and when my stylist moved away from Richmond I had a couple terrible experiences with stylists telling me they know how to cut it.\r Trying this salon based on reviews was a risk that turned out the be well worth it!!\r \r Simone and Alyson were wonderful. From the minute I walked in the door I liked the place. Eclectic, relaxed atmosphere with friendly, warm, geniune people.\r \r Simone was my stylist for the day. I watched as she finished up the client prior to me. Then she sat with me for about 15 minutes or so to check out my hair and talk with me about what I was looking for in a style.\r She listened and offered her expertise.\r \r Needless to say, I walked out of there a happy customer with a fabulous hair style.\r \r I will be returning on a regular basis!!! I only hope Simone's schedule doesn't get completely filled after reading all the fabulous reviews here on city search. more

This past Tuesday, with a impending trip to headquarters, I needed a last minute haircut. Simone was able to fit me in. Instead of just giving me a trim, she took the time to look at my hair and recommend a new look for me. She told me it would be lighter feeling, look fresher (aka younger), lower maintenance, and shorter prep time...as a guy, how could I object to this? Afterward, Simone took the time to carefully show me how to prep it. After a few days now, even with my limited skills and patience I'm able to make it look almost as snazzy as Simone did. And the results speak for themselves: all the ladies at work (any my other ladyfriends) think it looks great. Further, yesterday i went for an 8 mile run in the heat and the cut definately kept my head cooler. So now I'm ready for my trip! more

After moving to Richmond from NJ 5 years ago, I have struggled to find someone to cut my hair. The struggle is now over after finding Scissors Hair Studio! Simone was fabulous - took the time to find out what I was looking for in a hair style and explained how to take care of my hair. Allison was very friendly as well and the follow up call to check on my new cut was something no other salon has ever done! As always, Simone does a great job styling my hair and working with my picky limitations to give me great styles without crossing any lines I'm uncomfortable with. Before I came to Scissors, I had never had a real ""style"" in my entire life, but everyone at Scissors really works hard to give you something you can be proud of even long after you've left the salon. \r \r Allison has always done my air-brush tans and she is always cheerful, professional, and very knowledgable about the process. She has always gone out of her way to assist me and make me feel very comfortable during the entire process and makes a point to talk to me and make sure I'm doing well whenever I'm at the studio to see Simone for my hair. Her smile is actually quite infectious so even if you're feeling tired going in, you'll feel much better while you're there.\r \r I've never had a reason to not enjoy my visit to Scissors and I recommend them to everyone. more

I've spent the last 10 years living in DC, LA and London. I've gotten my hair done in numerous places in all of those cities. Simone at Scissors beats any of them. My hair was a mess due to months of over coloring by other stylists. I figured it would take several months of work to get it looking OK, but in one appointment, it looked better than it ever has.\r Simone took the time to talk with, understand my lifestyle and issues with my hair. The cut and color are terrific. She is a real pro. The salon also has a wonderful, friendly environment. It is a pleasure to spend time there. more

Simone as Scissors Hair STudio is an artist with hair. I have been going for a little over year, and have had the best haircuts ever. \r \r In fact, I have been talked about for a promotion at work but it was stalled. After a few visits to Scissors, people at work noticed me more and took me more seriously. Happy to say, the promotion is in the works !!! more

I live out of town and could only do my bridal pictures on a Monday, the day the salon is closed. It wasn't a problem! The ladies came in on their day off to make me look amazing. My hair was so beautiful, it was even better than I had imagined. I don't wear make up, so I was a little nervous about getting it done. Allison was great going step by step and making me just look like a more beautiful and polished version of myself. My nails were perfect and still look perfect a week later. I am pretty confident there is no other salon in Richmond that would call in their staff on their day off. Customer service is number one, and my hair looked better than it ever has. Both times I have gone in they made me feel like I was the most important client! I feel so lucky to have found them to make me beautiful on my special day. This may be the one thing about my wedding that I don't have to worry about. I know I will look amazing! more

I discovered Scissors a few years back, and haven't gone anywhere else since. I've changed my hair cuts and styles throughout time, and every time I walked out the door I was more pleased than the time before. The service and the atmosphere is great, although that's a given. The hairstylists continually stay up to date, and have always satisfied my needs... whether it's the same cut or something new. more
