Quality of beef is not great.... beef is a bit tough - but edible... and you get LOTS of it. Definitely not a ritzy place. Pros: quantity Cons: quality

Excellent service & food. Just took my 86 year-old father for a special night out. The waitress was super nice, attentive and patient. The food was delicious (filet mignon [medium well] & seafood combo [grilled]) and cooked to perfection. Great value for the money. more

Tacky add on charge! We've been going to Sayler's since I was a kid (over 40 years). I have always asked for a straw for my ice water. Yesterday after getting the bill, I discovered a charge of 75 cents for asking for a straw. When did Sayler's start charging for a straw? more

When my husband and I want to celebrate this is where we like to go. Great prime rib served to my request, rare. That sauce they have for dipping is so good, we use it to dip everything. Love that you get a full meal too, including the relish tray and the ice cream for dessert. Thank you for keeping it old school and just as great as the first time I ate there in the '70's. We will be back. Diane more

I can't count how many times i have gone to sayler' for dinner. from the time I went with my father to the times I went with my ex-wife to the many times I enjoyed dinner with my present wife. I can't get enough prime rib or the excellent steak selection. As a matter of fact my wife and I will be there this Mothers Day for dinner. Now all I have to do is figure out what steak to have. more

My friend from ND came into Bend over Christmas and New Years and said ""Pack your bags were going to Portland to eat"". So 2 1/2 hours later were we driving through a VERY full parking lot, my thought was ""really 3 hours for this""? We placed our name on a very long list and headed into the bar for some drinks and video poker. I had just ordered my drink and put $20 in and our name was called. WooHoo! My friend had been bragging about this place the whole entire trip, he had nothing but good things to say about the food. My drink from the bar was delivered right to my table, can't believe she found me but she did. We ordered Onion Rings and our steaks...all I can say is what is in that Sour Cream (OMG!) I tried to pace myself, but between the Onion Rings, Bread, relish tray and salad I was full. Then came our Big Steak (I ordered the small I would hate to see what the large one looked like). I like my steak, killed then walk it by the grill and slap it on a plate. I was so full but I had came all this way I wasn't going to not try the steak. I was amazed at the flavor and the tenderness of this great steak. I ate so much I thought I was going to burst. Everyone was wonderful and a few of the girls came out to say Hi to my friend, apparently he eats there more then he was letting on..LOL! Thank you and I will going back again, and again and again <3 more

My first experience at Sayler's was in 1968 when I was a freshman on a date with my high school sweetheart, (He's still my sweetheart!) and we've been going there regularly ever since. It's our first choice for any reason we can think of for a celebratory meal. We always order the same thing - the tenderloin. It is incredibly juicy and tender, and I can honestly say that we've never had a bad meal, or disappointing service in our 46 years of enjoying this marvelous steak house. The onion rings are absolutely delish, and their sour cream is to die for. (I don't know what they do to it - it's not regular sour cream.) When you consider everything that comes with a meal - relish tray served with the sour cream/dip, bread with lots of butter and garlic butter, soup or salad, entreé and sides, and ice cream, it's a great value. Most of their wait staff has been there for years.....that in itself says something about this establishment's core values. more

I AND MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS HAVE BEEN GOING TO SAYLERS SINCE 1962 WHEN I WAS IN THE AIR FORCE STATIONED AT THE PORTLAND AIRBASE. THIS IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE STEAK HOUSE. WE GO THERE AS OFTEN AS WE CAN AND FEEL IT IS A FIRST CLASS RESTAURANT IN EVERY WAY INCLUDING THE SERVICE AND BEST OF ALL THE FOOD. more

The Traditional Steak house atmosphere 4/14/2012

The Traditional Steak house atmosphere is preserved in such a comfortable way. It looks effortless but I think it is thru a lot of effort that their professional restaurant style in the staff has not slipped over so many years. Usually it is eventually lost to boredom of repetition or eventual poor management. I personally love the hal. fish and chips. more

Sayler""s Old Country Kitchen 12/10/2011

My wife and I have eaten at sayer's for the past thirty years. We try to make it a family gathering for birthdays, and other special events. There is no better steak in the world. We also enjoy the prime rib. It is my grandsons 23rd birthday today and we will be at Sayler's around five to once again enjoy the fine food, and excellent customer service more

The only steakhouse in the WORLD for me~ 11/26/2011

You might want to read my coment (to say the least) about Mr 1 star after 20 yrs. of eating there who had a bad experience, poor him! As I said I have eaten here for 50 yrs, yes I was 6 yrs old. I begged my daddy to take us there every week and he did. I have been through the Krahl family working there to Sam Elliot, to the large blonde lady, now deceased. Unreal unreal read my rebuttal, it says it all. Come to San Diego Sayler's Country Kitchen I will make it my personal mission to make you the best here too. Warm regards, Pamela Haye more

Wow!!! 11/23/2011

I'll try to keep this short... I planned on getting together with my son for dinner tonight (he's 18, so it don't happen often enough anymore). I asked him what he felt like and he had a 1 word answer - STEAK. After a lame experience at another steakhouse recently I went online to explore and found Sayler's here on CitySearch. I'd never heard of them before but after seeing the majority of reviews in the 4-to-5 star range I thought it'd be worth a try. (Admittedly I was a bit worried about the several reviews I saw regarding bad service.) We showed up and the parking lot was PACKED (uh-oh, bad service here we come). Got inside & got seated immediately. Literally within 10 minutes we had our beverages, appetizers & salads - let the gorging begin. I don't know how anyone ever had bad service here unless they've recently changed their policies. It was like the waitresses were on a rotation of some sort - any time one of them walked past our table, they asked if we were ok or if we needed anything. I probably talked to at least a half dozen of different servers tonight. The main course came out & was exemplary as well, not to mention timely. Let me be clear - the restaurant was 75% full tonight & we were in, WELL fed and out in less than an hour. I had no problem leaving a 20% plus tip. If you held a firearm to my head and forced me to say something negative it would only be that the horseradish sauce that comes with the prime rib wasn't spicy enough for me, but that's coming from a guy who uses enough hot sauce on taco night to make myself sweat into my dish. This was the best dinner out that I've had in many moons. My thanks to Sayler's for their contribution to a great evening out with my son. more

Great food Great service 9/20/2011

We eat at Sayler's on the average of twice a month...sometimes every week over 40 miles round trip for us, but we have not found a better place or greater service. We had one bad dining evening..food was great waitress was HORRID. We went straight to the manager about half way through the meal and he switched servers immediately for us. We are going agin tonight...we were there last week...Ask for Linda M., Jill, Diana, Desi, or Coleen....they have all been there for over 10 years and are great!!!! more

Bad experience 9/10/2011

I've eaten at saylors for 20 years and had a great steak for all those years. We ate there last wednesday nite and had one of the worst dining experiences of my life.Started out by seating us in the ne corner next to a group of people I'd call the barbarians. The waitress couldn't get our order straight, the meal was lousy and I may never go back. What an ordeal. more

Literally, One of the ""Best Steak House's in the World"" 7/21/2011

I have been around the world many, many times and have eaten in ""Steak House's"" everywhere I went. I must say Sayler's ranks in my ""All-time Top 5"" worldwide. Great food, service and the bartender has a heavy hand. BRAVO.. more

Awesome steaks! 7/19/2011

Not only are the prices good, but the portions are pretty big considering that a steak dinner comes with all the extras, like a baked potato and salad, and you get dessert on top of that. The atmosphere isn't stuck up like it sometimes can be at other steakhouses and you can come here with a group of people and not feel like you're being rushed. more

Dissappointed with Service 5/27/2011

Food was great, and lots of it. Although i asked for FF with my steak and got Baked I can live with that. But our server was not real friendly never smiled. She never brought refills on drinks and for the price of the beverages you should get one refill at least. more

great place! 5/12/2011

Had a wonderful experience and great food! more
