Had a excellent time throughout my first visit at Salumi. Small and unpretentious, good food and fun ambiance. Go early to avoid long lines more

Best Eatery in PNW! 9/29/2007

What can I say about Salumi besides that its the first place I bank on going with out-of-town guests. I too first heard about it on Bourdain's show, then checked it out a few days later. These days, its part of my Friday tradition to visit Salumi for a sandwich, take it to the public waterfall park a couple of blocks away, and then cleanse the palette with a Zeitgeist Americano.\r \r Salumi is one of those places where you will want to try something different each time and experience unusual confidence in that everything you try will be excellent. And so far for me, it all has been. Make sure to get there early before they run out of various items.\r \r I am amazed that a couple of people have given Salumi poor reviews. I thought this would be one place that would receive 5 stars across the board. Anyone who could give Salumi a one-star rating either defines what its like to be a hater or is a complete culinary philistine.\r \r Long live Armandino! Pros: delicious meats, friendly staff Cons: rightfully so popular you can count on a wait more

good stuff 6/5/2007

this place rocks, I go in a few times a month with my collegues and just love it. No matter what we order, our lunch is awesome. I like the meatball with mozz, but the mole and gorganzola is a great 2nd choice for me. The secreat spread they put on each sandwich is to die for. They shold bottle it and sell it. If you haven't been in yet, you are really missing out. Pros: everything tastes great Cons: parking more

worth the wait in gold 6/1/2007

I love Salumi, the friendly employees, the wonderful sandwiches, great specials each week. I'm there every week and its fun to sit with other regular customers and shoot the breeze. With the new summer menu and great weather the line is a bit long, so get there early. Half the fun is the experience of waiting for the best food in town. The proscuitto, fig and goat cheese sandwich is excellent. I love it all and you will too. Pros: large qaulity sandwiches, fun atmoshpere, Cons: often a line to the door. more

.I had to go back! 5/31/2007

So I took the afternoon off and went to Salumi. My friends told me it was crowded... how could that be? My favorite tiny hole in the wall must have space for me! Well, my friends were right, I had never seen the line so long. Oh well, I decided to wait. I couldn't just leave after making such an effort to be there. So chatting in line, I met a bunch of nice people- mostly tourists with lots of questions (maybe thats why the line is so long?!). I answered some patiently and hoped they would have what i wanted (today-any salami sandwich!! with gorgonzola). Finally, it was my turn.... the folks behind the counter gave me a taste of the new salami- Agrumi- yummy- citrus! But alas, they don't serve it on a sandwich, only by the pound and in the salad, so I had to have that too. I got my sandwich-Yeah! I easily found a seat (where did all the people from the line go? I wondered......) and sat down to enjoy. Oh it was good. Big. Delicious. The salad was a nice add, made me full less full. They still have the formula and I am going back, but maybe after the tourist season is over..... more

Not so good customer service. Sandwich good but overpriced. 5/18/2007

So I went to Salumi after seeing it on the Food Network and hearing how Anthony Bourdain loves it so much. I waited in line for about 15 minutes, which I don't care about if I'm getting good food at the end. I gave one of the women at the counter my order and she started to make my sandwich, then abruptly stopped to go talk to a man at the end of the line for about five minutes. Two people behind me got their sandwiches before the woman even asked me if my sandwich was to-go. Hm. Whatever. I probably will not go back. Does not live up to the hype. Too bad. I was looking forward to having another great place to go to. The meat on my sandwich was great, but seriously? Almost 10 bucks for a sandwich with not-so-great customer service? I'd rather go somewhere were the people actually want you to be there. Pros: Good salty meat Cons: Bad customer service more

Can't wait for summer menu 5/10/2007

I just can't wait for the summer menu to come back on May 15th. I eat at Salumi every chance I have and I know with the summer menu bringing back the fig confi and goat cheese sandwich I will be in line for the best sandwich in town. My friends who are teachers are also looking forward to summer to eat at their favorite salami eatery. Pros: amazing food, great specials, fun atmosphere Cons: limited parking more

My friends who are teachers are also looking forward to summer to eat at their favorite salami eatery. Best Meatball sandwich in the nation. Must try it. The porchetta is also one of my favorites. You can't go wrong with the soup or pasta and I heard a rumor they have a salad with citris salumi coming. Yum Yum. See you there. Pros: amazing food, great specials, fun atmosphere Cons: limited parking more

Best Italian Finocchiona Salami Sandwich anywhere! Avoid the meatball sandwich 12/22/2006

Well, after reading all the reviews and tips from those that have gone before, I showed up early which was a good thing because I was 3rd in line 25 mins before opening. By the time the door opened at 1:05pm, there were 40 people in line! I ordered a Finocchiona Salami sandwich with mozarella ($1.50 extra). The bread was delicious, spread with pesto sauce and I said yes to peppers but no to onions. One sandwich is a meal - you won't go away hungry. I also ordered a meatball sandwich which is prepared on a baguette. The baguette was nearly as good as what you'll find in France; however, the large meatballs were very disappointing. They were full of fat and gristle without much flavor at all. I've had ""melt-in-your mouth"" italian meatballs before and these were as far from that as you can imagine. DON'T GET THE MEATBALLS! Parking is difficult unless you luck out and pick one of 5 metered spots across the street that are limited to 30 mins. The staff were very nice and I loved the taste so much I ordered 4 small Finocchiona salamis ($14 each). Pros: Best Finocchiona Salami Sandwich every tested Cons: Arrive early, very little parking, avoid the meatballs more

The people are nicer every time I'm there. Can't wait to go back. Pros: great take out, deliscious, unique to area Cons: usually a line more
