great bang for your buck! 12/22/2010

I am originally from Dallas and use a discount cleaners there. I was very happy when I came across Ricks. Previously, I had used other cleaners close to the UT campus (I am a former student) and nearly died when I was told how much I owed for a cocktail dress or pair of slacks. It was outrageous! I have taken a bunch of my nice BCBG clothing to Ricks, and everything has come back exactly how I left it with them, except it was now clean and pressed! They even got the stains out of my white skirt!\r \r I recently dropped off some gifts for the Brown Santa donation barrels that were there. The woman at the counter greeted me very kindly and smiled while saying, ""Thank you!"" as I placed my bag in the donation barrel. It's a good cleaners the gives you exactly what you need for a small cost! more

You get what you pay for at Rick’s Cleaners - Poor Service 2/28/2010

I totally agree with the negative posts here. I posted on Rick’s Round Rock locations where I typically do my dry cleaning.\r \r I had used Reid’s Cleaners for years but decided to give Rick’s a try to save a little money. Things had started off well and I told my coworkers and neighbors that they were great. I’m retracting that praise in this post after my poor customer service experience.\r \r TWO of my shirts were returned with slight tears on the backside of the forearms. I returned the shirts and suggested they take a look at the shirts and determine how we might rectify this situation. The shirts were returned with a photo copied article from the International Fabricare Institute explaining how the manufacture was to blame for their dying process. What are the chances of TWO DIFFERENT MANUFACTURES (IZOD and Calvin Klein) producing poor quality shirts that tear in the exact same shirt location at the exact same time? Rick’s Customer Service (Barbara) did not have a good explanation and asked me to send the shirts back again.\r \r The shirts were returned with a different photo copied bulletin from the International Faricare Institute explaining the life expectancy of shirts. By the way, the holes were much larger because they “tested” the shirts by putting their fingers in the holes and making them larger. Now, the shirts are beyond repair.\r \r I’m willing to bet Rick’s Cleaners will have an International Fabricare Institute article for any problem that you might encounter. So, don’t expect them to do what is right, like repairing garments, offering free service, replacing a damaged garment, or even partial replacement. Instead, you can expect a photo copied article from a very biased industry publication that will place the blame somewhere other than Rick’s Cleaners.\r \r Did I mention the shirt life expectancy article was published nearly 20 years ago? The “scientific testing” was conducted on THREE shirts worn by staffers? Call me naïve, but I believe the statistically significant sample of shirts for an industry article should have been much larger. Oh well, I’m a believer that customer service will make or break a small business – goodbye Rick’s Cleaners.\r \r By the way, I had to give Rick’s a one star rating because zero stars was not an option. Cons: Poor Customer Service more

very disgusted customer 11/13/2009

I understand exactly where this employee is coming from, I went to pick up some of my dry cleaning and drop some off as well, and to my surprise the employee was on the phone with upper management. All I heard was the employee being as polite as could be in that situation, but I could hear the woman on the phone yelling at this poor employee. I was in the store the whole time this employee was on the phone and instead of talking to this employee this loud, obnoxious, disrespectful, woman was on the other end yelling. I have never in my life heard anyone treat anybody this way. I am so appalled by this, I felt inincredibly horrified. I even asked the employee if this is how they are treated on a daily basis, and all that they could say was, I apologize mam but I shouldn't say. I hope they soon look for new upper management because the ones currently on the payrol need to learn some manners.\r \r noone should ever be treated this way by anyone! Pros: worst management Cons: upper management problems more

Anonymous employee 11/9/2009

I'm an employee at Rick's and I have to say it's the worst place I've ever worked. I noticed all the reviews mention how the employees aren't friendly; that's because we have to deal with terrible management, low wages (minimum wage), long hours, and understaffed shifts so the owners can save money. On top of that we have to deal with at least one customer a day that screams over a wrinkle in their shirt or some shit like that. The upper management screams at you over the phone for things that usually aren't even your fault, but they can't even face you in person. Our location is roach infested, the AC is a piece of shit, and it's unorganized. Something is always broken and they'll delay fixing problems, sometimes they won't fix something at all to save money. No benefits, they jack you on your wages and you have to argue for them to even give you your minimum wage because they short your hours on your paycheck. A lot of times they don't even clean the clothes, they just press them and send them back if they're busy. The management tries to get employees to sign damage waivers as much as possible because they have a tendency to screw clothes up, then it comes back on the front desk person if the clothes are screwed. Basically, the front desk person gets shit on for minimum wage. So now everyone knows why we're never in a good mood. I've never been treated so badly by an employer. I hope this business gets run into the ground because I hate the greedy douchebags at the top that pinch every penny. -An anonymous, disgruntled employee Pros: Cheap Cons: Everything else more

Job Done at Right Price 10/14/2009

Ive been particularly impressed with these guys over the years. At numerous drycleaners I had issues with clothes, but my only minor one here was corrected right away + they havent had any slip-ups since. Theres a location by my work and home so its always convenient. Pros: locations, consistency, price Cons: no same day service more

Terribly Lacking in Customer Service 2/20/2009

We have used the Anderson Mill location. My husband likes this dry cleaner because we have not had issues with broken buttons or stains but every time I go to drop off or pick up, the workers act as if I am putting them out. In at least eight visits, I have never seen a smile or heard a greeting out of these people. I was pushed over the edge today when I left with two bunches and assumed one of them was my dry cleaning but I realized once I arrived home that it was all laundry. I am so irritated that she could not even make sure my order was complete since I gave her all of my tickets. Pros: Locations Cons: No Friendly Service more

Caution, Dangerous Chemical Burns 1/29/2009

Caution, Dangerous Chemical burns!\r My wife got a Chemical burn from this cleaners. We just got our clothes back for Ricks Cleaners on Jollyville Rd. we noticed a smell of chemicals on them but didn?t really think much of it. My wife wore a sweater to lunch and within an hour her skin was burning. She had whelps and rashes all over her body. She is also pregnant and we are very concerned. I called the store and ask to speak to a manager they gave me another number, I called that number and a lady told me to call another number, when I called that number they said no manager was available and said call back tomorrow. None of these people seemed to care are offer to reclean my clothes. I told them I want my money back and the lady said no, your clothes got cleaned. This is inexcusable and the worse customer service I have ever seen. \r more

Customer is always wrong 9/3/2008

A shirt came back from Rick's Cleaners on Cameron Road with two oily stains. I hadn't worn it and it still had the cleaner's stapled tag attached in a button hole. I no longer had the receipt because it had been more than a week since I picked up the shirt. The clerk indifferently pointed to a sign that says all returns have to be made within 48 hours of picking up your garments, and added, ""...I need a ticket or something."" How do you argue with that line of thinking?\r So, I guess they're saying you should carefully inspect all the clothes you take to Rick's within two days of picking them up, because they're might be something wrong with the quality of their work. \r A smart business would say, sorry, let's try it again, no charge. more

beware!!! 8/23/2007

I just moved to South Austin and needed to get some things dry cleaned and looked up Ricks off William Cannon. When I got there it looked run-down and empty inside. I went in and told the lady I had never been to there cleaners before. Before I could even finish my sentence the lady blurted out that they didn't take credit cards only cash or check and that you have to pay upfront before you clothes were even cleaned. I thought that was a little bizarre. I told her I didn't have cash or check and she looked at me and told me to come back before 7pm. Needless to say I will not be coming back. Customer service terrible!! more

worst service ever! 8/11/2007

i moved to austin a week ago and needed a convenient, cheap, good quality cleaners. this is most definetely not the place. when i arrived to drop off my clothes i had to wait at least twenty minutes. this should have been my first sign to run away as fast as i could. when i returned three days later to pick up my clothes i had to wait another twenty minutes. the clerk working had to be the most incompetent person i have seen. when i told her i dropped off six shirts and only received five she didn't seem to care and went on helping the customer after me. after getting her attention again i explained the problem and she told me there must have been a miscount. i agreed and asked for my money back on the mystery shirt i paid to have cleaned but wasn't there. she let me know she couldn't give me money back because her drawer would be short and proceeded to help the next person in line. after another customer tried to explain to her that she should just give my $1.40 back she said she couldn't and could only give me credit for another shirt. i explained that i would never come back here and just wanted my money back. ridiculous. i will be going to talk to the manager in a couple of days to get my money back but i will never take my clothes here again. stay away from this little craphole!! Cons: bad customer service, always a long wait, just plain terrible more

Don't waste your time 7/27/2007

This was the first cleaners I used upon moving to Austin. I was extremely nervous about them when I took a sundress in for cleaning and they lost the string that laced up the back for more than a week. But did I learn my lesson? Noooo... I was stupid enough to give them another chance. That's when I experienced the thrill of wearing a new dry-clean-only blouse only once after they managed to shrink it beyond any further use. If you have any care for your clothes, you'll avoid these incompetents like the plague. Pros: price, parking Cons: quality of service more
