Raw Dough-We will NEVER go back! 9/8/2011

My husband and I have eaten there several times, after seeing the unsanitary conditions on the news we stopped. But last night we decided to try it again because we really liked the stromboli. We ordered it to pick up, after we got home and started eating we realized the dough on the bottom was completely raw. I called and let them know. They were very responsive and said they would deliver a new one. When the delivery driver got there he said the manager wants me to take the old stromboli's back to look at, which is fine. Then we tried our new ones to find the same exact thing....RAW DOUGH. This was the last time we will ever eat there. Do not recommend to anyone. more

Slow service, terrible service, rude employees 2/12/2011

My wife and I came with high expectations at the invitation of friends who said this was their favorite pizzaria. There is no clearly identified place to order pizza, so we stood next to the cash register while four employees milled behind the counter not making eye contact, one of whom was busy with her cell phone. Two young guys came in and immediately got served. When their business was transacted we moved to the exact spot the young guys were standing in, thinking it must be the magic place. Again, four milling employees making no eye contact. As I was about to say, ""Where do we go to order pizza?"" a middle-aged couple came in and were immediately asked if they could be helped. Now I'm a little steamed. The woman behind the counter working the cell phone sighed loudly and approached us and asked to take our order. Finally, we ordered our pizza and were served our drinks. Our pizza was delivered in 20 minutes and we sat down to enjoy a nice evening. After about 30 minutes one of the staff began visiting our table every five minutes asking if we had any plates he could clear away. After the third such visit we had nothing left but the plate with our remaining pizza on it. But that didn't stop him; he continued to come every five minutes asking if he could take something away. There were only three other tables occupied -- over a dozen were empty, but this was so obviously an effort to get us to clear out. I had just got a refill of my soda, so I wasn't eager to leave. But since we were getting the bum's rush, I asked if I could get a ""to go"" cup for my beverage. Mr. Every Five Minutes said it was against their policy. So we left, and we will NOT be back. There are just too many pizza restaurants in Bexar County to have to pay good money to one that poorly staffed and that ignorant of customer service. Oh, and the ""rating"" for this restaurant is not accurate. eight ""5s"", one ""4"" and four ""1s"" gives an average of 3, not 4. more

Very Rude Manager & Slow Service! 12/5/2009

Very Rude Manager, Bad Service, Long Wait!!!!! Go instead to Trilogy Pizza & Wine Bistro on Stone Oak, VJ's Pizza & Subs on Bulverde Rd. or Johnny's Pizza & Blimpie Subs on Judson Rd., all managers are very thoughtful & professional! I called Pizza Italia days ahead to let them know that I was bringing in a large party of 30 people. We spent altogether a total of approx. $500.00, yet the manager would not except my coupon that was the equivalent of $5.00, even though I had brought in such a large group. He was extremely rude and did not care one bit how much business I had brought in to his restaurant. It took over an hour and a half to get some of our orders even though I had called ahead of time. We did not expect to get our pizzas at the same time, only as we ordered them. He did not apologized for the long wait or even thank us for coming in. He just lost 30 customers and others that have been told not to go there. The pizza is ok but not out of this world. They have a big selection of beers, we couldn’t help but wonder if they were taking so long to get us to buy more. Skip Pizza Italia, unless you like long waits and a rude manager. Cons: Very Rude Manager & Very Slow Service! more

LOOK FOR OUR GRAND REOPENING 4/28/2009

We would like to thank everyone for all your thoughts and encouragement during these past few weeks. Although a big part of our lives was destroyed on March 13th, we are in the process of bringing back Pizza Italia. We have secured a new location at 3023 Thousand Oaks, almost across the street from our old location, and are beginning the work on making it, once again, a favorite for good food, cold drinks, and good friends. We are anticipating completion sometime towards the end of June, but be sure and keep an eye on our progress. Once again, thanks to everyone for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. From Terry, Betty and all our great employees: We can't wait to serve you again!! See you soon. Pros: Our many loyal friends who have supported us for years Cons: Missing our friends more

Horrible Service Rude Mgmt 3/10/2009

We ordered a pizza for delivery, when we recieved the pizza the order was \r incorrect. I called to let them know we had gotten the wrong pizza and \r I was told they could bring me another one for half price. When I asked to \r speak to a manager I was told the same thing. When I exclaimed, ""So I'm \r supposed to pay for a mistake on your part?"" He rudely said, ""Yup, have a \r nice day"" and hung up on me! In addition, the pizza was cold upon arrival. Pros: Delivers beer Cons: Horrible customer service more

My favorite San Antonio 6/14/2008

I just happen to work nearby, which is how I found this place. I think the people here are very friendly. I have been going to Pizza Italia for the last 5 years or so ( I think they recognize me by now lol). I like the pizza best! I always order pizza by the slice since I go during my lunch hour. I really like the amount of cheese placed on the slice! The stromboli and the salad are favorites with my co-workers. The place can be busy at lunch time so the food can be slow to your table when you only have 1 hour for lunch. Because I don't live nearby, I've never been here in the evenings but there are plenty of beers to select from I think it would be more lively. I believe this place has the best pizza I have had in San Antonio. more

Best place to go for pizza and beer (and not just your domestic brews either) 3/5/2008

One of the best places to go - always have a special going on and their pizza is one of the best - i typically dont like sauce on my pizza but this place is the exception - you can order by the slice or the whole pie if you like and their staff doesnt treat you with a bs attitude they are real and take care of you - \r \r also has on of the best beer selection in san antonio - over 100 beers to choose from - nothing like a a slice of pepparoni mushroom and sausage with a bottle of Sammy Smith Oatmeal stout!! Pros: fresh made to order pizza - great brew selection - well priced Cons: not the fastest service - only one in san antonio more

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE 12/10/2007

Best Pizza and Beer selection 11/20/2006

It's great when you hop into a pizza joint and they have tv's on full blast and an awesome beer selection. This place has it all. The great thing about the location of Pizza Italia is it's right next door to an awesome live music venue. So you can eat outside and listen to the live music. The Mama Mia pizza is the best for meat lovers! Pros: great pizza, beer, location Cons: trouble parking on a friday or saturday night more

Our favorite pizza in San Antonio! 2/27/2006

We just happened upon this place and have continued to go back every time we want pizza! It has always been excellent. Pros: Staff, Consistent quality more

Hidden Gem of San Antonio 2/10/2006

We've been going to Pizza Italia for over 5 years now and consider it ""our"" pizza joint. Terry and the crew do a great job with the pies and I absolutely love the selection of beer they offer - none better! Terry, the owner, is always ready to talk about the new brews he has and everyone else is super friendly. The only complaint we have about the place is they need to replace the booth seating. Don't let that stop you! Pros: Pizza, Brew, Small Business Cons: Booths, Crowds more

Like real New york style pizza 8/8/2002
