Used to be great...but now...blech!!! 9/13/2011

We went there after a nice night on the town. We used to frequent this place often, but of course, as you get older, you don't go out as much. So, for a bit of nostalgia, we thought we would go to Pete's and order something to eat. Our Server seemed like she was stoned out of her mind, and wasn't a bit interested in taking our order. After about 20 minutes, and asking another server if we could order our food, she reluctantly took our order. We ordered coffee and one of our friends ordered a soft drink. We didn't get offered refills on any of our drinks, we had to ask. Our food arrived, and it was mediocre. After we finished our meal, we were very tired and wanted to get out of there. The Server finally brought our check. We could not read what was written and could barely read the total. I honestly think that she was up to something, because when my husband went up to pay the bill. She didn't ring up the total on the cash register? Ahh well, who cares. We used to come to this restaurant and get stellar service, delicious food and entertained by the crowd. I wonder what happened? more

Not bad for Greek food 5/18/2011

I've never been a big fan of Greek food but when one of my friends brought me here I was pleasantly surprised. A lot of their stuff was actually pretty decent. As far as Greek food goes I would go here before anywhere else. more

Good food...but OH MY THE SERVICE! 5/9/2011

We've been to this restaurant many many times. We like the Greek food and their breakfasts are really good. more

Owner could use some manners 3/24/2009

This is just another greasy spoon, teaming with greasy spoons. Yes, they have a passable Greek salad, but to call this a Greek restaurant is plain misleading. The standard fare is burgers, club sandwiches, fries...with a few Americanized Greek ""specialties"" thrown in. We went there from time to time for a quick, cheap bite but honestly, I'm sick of sitting and looking at fat, sexist, Greek mafiosos smoke and drink and preside over the waitresses. Pete is just a scowling misogynist and after the treatment I receieved from him last night, I won't be returning. Cons: Rude owner more

OMG there was Phlegm in my food. 9/24/2008

OMG... Found PHLEGM in my sandwich! Will never ever eat here again! Be warned don't make the manager mad!! Pros: n/a Cons: small portions, bad take out, rude manager more

Food made us sick 3/2/2008

My dad and I both got very sick eating here in the fall of 2007. When I called to tell them so that they could hopefully spare others of our misery the waitress was very rude and hung up on me. I submitted negative feedback on their website which caused a manager / owner to call me and apologize. He was very nice and offered my dad and I a free lunch, which I obviously turned down - that type of food born illness is not something I'll risk repeating. more

Hideous Beyond Imagining 1/12/2008

The tzatziki was sour cream with cucumber in it. The moussaka had what I honestly believe was Chef Boyardee meat in it, and was topped with some kind of horrible nutmeg custard (ostensibly Bechamel). A thin slice of soggy eggplant was placed between the two other toxic components. The vegetable sides were obviously frozen, and my soup was from a can. Pros: Decent service. Cons: Horrible Food more

Our Go-To place for take out! 9/13/2007

If someone had ever pointed out Pete's Greek Town Cafe and told me that I would order take out from there once a week, I would have NEVER believed them. The place scared me at first, but I""m glad I got over myself :). They have the best Greek Salad in Denver, always super fresh, and they are always friendly. We're never disappointed. more

Avoid take out food!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7/15/2007

Went because had been to the restaurant before (dining in house) and thought that the food would be as good for Take-Out. Hello! ... the temp. for the burgers wasn't correct and the lower half of the bun was so wet of grease ( as if drop in the fryer ) had to use a slice of bread to complete the bun. After cooking the burger in the microwave (not the best way to cook meat ... but with the heat at 95 degrees ) just wish that I had gone to Mac""s house instead of paying $22.10 for two burgers and a beer while I waited. Let's not forget the $3.00 tip for the wait staff that didn't offer me water when I had finished my beer and had to wait yet another 12 minutes. Pros: big serving of food, temp of food good Cons: never order take out - best to go to fast food instead more

Average joint. 6/13/2007

Anyone who still thinks Gyro is authentic Greek food is a fool. Gyro is about as authentic as a taco is to Mexico or pizza is to Italy. It just isn't anymore. The Greek Salad is alright. Average place. Opah! more

All my favorite Greek dishes! And great prime rib. 2/10/2007

I love this restaurant. I come from NJ and know Greek diners. I had to go into NY to get food like this! It's a little funky, needs new seats, but the Greek salad is to die for. Their prime rib is really good when they have it. Great traditional food. The prices aren't cheap, but has good sized servings. There are a lot of neighborhood characters who are patrons. Fun atmosphere, with alcohol, newspapers and parking! No rush either. Opah! Pros: Greek Food at it's Best! Cons: Reupholster! more

Excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner 5/5/2006

With all of the shoddy service in Denver - you can always count on Pete's for consistently good food, prompt service and no waiting. Everything I have eaten there is great. Should not be missed if you are looking for a quick, inexpensive good meal. Pros: Great Service, Great Food, Inexpensive more

DISAPPOINTING DINER EXPERIENCE 11/14/2004

Coming from the state of the diner--NJ, we were excited to find this eatery. However, after waiting 45 minutes for a simple order, and a waitstaff that was obviously overstretched, we are not returning....to bad, or we would definitely have been regular customers!! Cons: , very slow service more

Best Greek I've Had 8/21/2002

I love Greek food and I've been to most of the Greek restaurants in and around Denver. The food here is the best of them all, though the decor is not. Try the dolmades! Pros: Great food, Good service Cons: Diner atmosphere more
