A bad concert (Bow Wow Wow) but a great venue! 5/21/2006

I have so many memories of this lovely concert venue. The first time I went here (just days after turning the big 21), I went to see the worst concert in the history of mankind. Do you remember a band named Bow Wow Wow? Yeah, I didn't think so...they were dreadful, but I still had a good time at Park West. After that night, I went back many more times and loved it because of the intimate setting. The outside doesn't look so hot anymore, but the theater itself is small and comfortable with a good sound system. A lot of great national and local bands have passed through these doors. more

Party at the Park West 4/4/2006

A fixture in the Lincoln Park area for many years this venue has hosted many concerts, corporate events and private partys. Some of the acts they book in are local bands with a big following. This place holds aprox 800 people. I have seen a few big name acts here, my favorite being a reunion of The Band minus Robbie Robertson.A good portion of the main room has table seating and service. Only a block or so away from the famous Lincoln Park Zoo makes this place very easy to find. more

Great performance venue 12/29/2005

The last time I went to Park West was to hear Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the South African group Paul Simon brought here. They were wonderful, and Park West was a perfect venue for them. All the seats in the house are close enough to the stage that you can hear and see very well. They are a visual act with their colorful costumes and dance moves and we could see perfectly. I think the time before that was Odetta. Again sound and sight lines were ideal. One of her trademarks is to put a stick of burning incense in the neck of her guitar. That smell soon filled the space, adding to the flavor of the music. http://www.parkwestchicago.com/ more
