WOW! 4/29/2010

Max's really impressed me with their menu and creativity. The food can best be described as comfort food with a foodie edge. My favorite food there was the fried egg sandwich with pancetta. IT WAS TO DIE FOR and cooked superbly. I went with a few friends and we all ordered a few different things, all were great except the hot dog, which was ultimately a very expensive hot dog. Other than the prices (which are steep all around), I have no negative comments. Great food, great wine, good atmosphere. Good for meeting friends or a first date. Why haven't you been already? Pros: Great Food, Fantastic Wine List, Comfort Food Cons: Prices more

Interesting place 11/18/2009

Really enjoyed our visit recently for dinner. Being someone who has traveled a lot, it was interesting to see several regional dishes that I wanted to try. All of the dishes were delicious, but some of them didn't quite evoke the comfort food they were emulating. In particular the Shrimp and Grits didn't have the juice that a dish like that needs. It was still very edible and tasty, but not quite what I had hoped for in a flavor profile. My wife's Buffalo Sliders were really good, but the rolls were a little much, and a tad burned. Minor complaints, as we did enjoy the food and wine. I'd recommend it, and we will go back. Just know that what you are trying may not match your expectation. Pros: Good food and wines Cons: Just a little off the mark more
