Best Bar in the Mission 12/8/2007

It's a home away from home... I love this place. Everyone that works here rocks! Fridays can be too crowed when all the marina folk try to slum it in the mission. Pros: Cheap Drinks, great selection of beers, bartenders are awesome Cons: when all the marina folk show up. more

Go for the bartenders 6/28/2007

The bartenders are the reason why I keep going back to Kilowatt. They are interesting people who take their time to talk to you.\r It gets too crowded on Saturdays, but it's a great place to go during the week; it's never dead. You can find all kinds of people there, from middle-aged tattooed guys to preppy college graduates. It's my favorite place in the city.\r Pros: Staff more

Happy Hour Metal! 11/24/2006

Great unassuming place to play some pool (two tables!) on an early Saturday afternoon, sipping on some microbrew you never tried to the dulcet tones of music designed to keep the casual weekend drinkers at bay. Pros: Selection, Clientele, Staff more

Very attentive bartenders. 9/8/2006

I've had nothing but good times here. The staff is always very attentive, friendly (in a mission sort of way) Drinks are great and cheap! Not to mention the staff is very attractive and entertaining!!!! Pros: Staff, Atmosphere, Prices. Cons: Parking more

Happy hour! 3/15/2005

Kilowatt's resisted the gentrification sweeping the Mission and stayed what it's always been: a great neighborhood bar. You get a wide range of brews (including some microbrews), a jukebox and great happy hour deals. A bunch of yahoos slumming it in the Mission fill the place on weekend nights, but on weekdays, it's filled with regulars. Perfect for an after-work drink. Plus, it's a cheesehead bar (go Packers!). more

The Best 3/29/2003

The Kilowatt is a great place for tourists: hip, colorful, fun and full of people in good moods. A good band will make the Kilowatt a great place to hang on the weekend. Pros: Fun, colorful Cons: typical dirty street, in SF more

Editorial
  • Back in the day, this was a live-music venue where the likes of Pavement played to a packed house. The bands are long gone, but the rock-and-roll vibe remains. What used to be a stage now holds...
