A bit small (I wouldn't bring my kids due to the size of the store ) but nice and clean neighborhood store. I have a ton of nice name brand clothes that I'm in the process of consigning. Three times I went there to find a hand written note on the door saying they would not be taking anymore consignment that day sorry for any inconvenience. I then called to see if they would be taking it that day and they said they could, but couldn't go through it that day because the owners weren't there. I finally get to drop off one bag of clothes and was told that I would get a call the next day to pick up any remaining items they didn't choose. I hadn't heard anything, so i called today to find out that they chose 6 items and donated the rest. All of my items are name brand, with no stains and I probably could have consigned somewhere else. I was told by the owner on the phone that none of her girls would say that, and that it's my word against theirs. They never call anyone for anything. I am furious to know that my items were donated without my permission. My paperwork indicated that I would come back the next day to pick up the unwanted items. I was not told to come in, I was told they would call and now my stuff is gone. I will never consign with Katelyns closet again! more

I love this place. I have shopped here for years for my kids and myself. There are some times that I stop in and the staff is busy working and they don't seem very chatty, but other times they are super friendly. I read the other reviews and wonder why everyone complains here. This is a consignment shop where you can find great deals and take your great stuff to sell. I do not agree with BlueSun 1967 about asking the lady at the desk to watch her child. It is not her job. This is a place of business, not a day care center. Would you ask the lady at the counter at Mcdonalds to watch your child while you run to the bathroom to get your purse? Go in and shop for some great clothes and check out there 50% off sales. more

I keep trying to shop here because they have a large selection of jeans...and I like to shop second-hand for my children. However, I always end up leaving that place feeling so unwelcome and it just isn't the kind of vibe I want to visit very often. I usual only venture in when I'm really desperate to find something but don't want to resort to goodwill. Recently, I did find a few things and was standing at the front to pay for it with my 2-year-old (who was playing with the toys near the front door). I suddenly realized I had left my purse in the changing room and asked the front desk lady if she would just keep her eye on my daughter for ""two seconds"" while I grabbed my purse. I was told they didn't have time to watch customer's children. Just totally unfriendly!! it's so ashamed too because they have a great selection. Too bad they run everyone away with their horrible attitude. more

I've shopped here a handful of times because I am a persevering type. I have arrived within their posted hours on several occasions only to find a hand scribbled note on the door saying they were closed and apologized for ""any inconvenience."" I tried consigning yesterday. It was my first time doing so. I had brought in a bag of items last spring. At that time she said that since many of them were fall/winter clothes, I should hang onto them until fall. That there were lots of cute items she'd be happy to take in season. So I stored them all summer and took them in yesterday. I arrived today with another sack of items I thought I would consign when I picked up any things she didn't want in my first effort. When I arrived, there was another hand scrawled note on the door saying they were accepting no more consignments today. ""Sorry for any inconvenience."" Then I was astonished to receive my whole bag of yesterday's items back. Seriously? I saved only the really good stuff--name brands (Gymboree, Hanna Andersson, Nike) no stains. A couple of them were a bit faded so I could understand rejecting a few of the items. But the majority of them were really nice. I stored them all summer, confident that she had already previewed and liked them. So it was a disappointing consignment venture on all fronts. One thing I'm very sure of, I would buy a lot more clothing from them if they had stuff as cute and quality as what I was trying to consign. And it would be much easier to do business with them if they kept the hours they advertise. more

I completely agree with the negative posts that the owner's are unfriendly. I have yet to consign there so I cannot speak to their policies, but I have asked them questions and tried to make general conversation and they are completely not interested in engaging in any form of talk. Their answers are curt and unfriendly and when I say good bye upon leaving I'm given a very fake ""buh-byyye"" and occasionally no acknowledgment what so ever. By the way, they do not take returns, so take your kids there to try on items (yeah, right) or take the risk that they may not like them or not fit. This is not the place for people that get easily offended by lack of customer service or unfriendly sales. Shop, don't talk, don't ask questions. more

This is a great place to shop and sell your items. I have no idea what other people are talking about. It must have been our bad weather in Portland that was making people so critical! This shop has been a great neighborhood visit and has offered wonderful clothing and prices for years. They take most of my things usually but sometimes they don't. I do not take it personally because they know what they want and what will sell. I usually do trade but sometimes I do consignment when I want to get a check instead. It is the same 40% either way. Some shops in Portland only offer you 35% so I am happy and glad to support this family owned business. I venture into this place once in awhile when I need a few things for my daughter or myself. I actually was a customer in the early days when the owner first opened this store...and it was always a pleasure to visit. But something has definately changed. Maybe she needs to get into some other profession because she is clearly NOT happy. She was so cold and rude when I was in there today that I cut my visit short and left with just one item. Couldn't wait to leave. I was in there a few months ago and noticed her coldness then too but figured she was having a bad day, perhaps. But now experiencing this again makes me NOT want to return. Clearly, she needs to hire some happy people and stay away from her customers until she can muster up some joy. It seems to be easier to complain than to compliment! That said I do feel the staff at this cute little shop could work on the ""friendly factor""! People who consign should be prepared for rejection of their items - after all - they didn't want them! However, the people themselves shouldn't end up feeling rejected, you know? I have found some nice things at this store (good quality sweaters, designer jeans for example) and will continue to patronize since it is in my 'hood. UPDATE: I have consigned here a few times and have decided to look elsewhere. It's kind of weird - this is a nice neighborhood and the store is convenient with cute things. But the owner is simply chilly. She often doesn't even say ""Hi"" when I come in the store, and even though I've been in a number of times I always feel like she has NO idea of who I am and is not interested. I am never going to shop there again. I agree with the rest of the people who wrote a review. The people who work there, including the owner, make you feel unwelcome. There is a much better family/kids consignment in Hillsdale (called Children's, i believe). What a difference! I am never shopping or leaving my items for consignment ever again in that place. it seems to be limited to a few selections. every time i have been in there, i have been made to feel unwelcome. This consignment shop has inconsistent buying habits and selection. I have taken things in for consignment which have been turned away, only to take them back a week later and have them taken. Sometimes they have an impression selection of merchandise, other times not so much. This wouldn't bother me so much if the staff were a bit more helpful. I keep going there, however, because I have found some pretty good deals. Its just a matter of putting up with apathetic staff and inconsistency in general.
