Do you ever wonder what happened to good customer serivce? I often do and am always impressed with the service I get at Karavel. They measure your foot and look at how you stand/walk. Then they listen to what kind of shoe you are wanting. I always find the perfect shoe that looks great, I can wear all day and is the best support for my foot. Wearing an 11narrow shoe with flat feet, I am usually disappointed when I go shoe shopping, but Karavel always has something for me. I can get my New Balances, dress shoes, work boots, and look at the sales all while staying in the same place. And if you get help in the New Balance area, they will let the people in the dress shoes know what you are needing. I always get the feeling that the employees are more concerned about you being happy and comfortable then making a sale. Pros: Wonderful selection in style and sizes. This year, i got rid of my hurt-y heels, and replaced them with many pairs of beautiful, well-priced european comfortable heels from Karavel. No more uncomfortable shoes for me! There are several comfort shoe stores in Austin: Karavel is the best because they know how to really fit you and make sure the shoe will not give you problems after you buy them. I bought a beautiful pair of Danskos from another place and while i was walking around Europe, these shoes gave me blisters. I took this pair of shoes to Karavel, and the kind staff gave me some inserts. They made the shoes fit, blister free. Karavel is Great! They will measure your feet and get you the shoes YOU want. No pressure to buy something you dont need. I work in a restaurant and love the Dansko shoes they carry. My feet never hurt after work anymore. The sales people are very helpful and make you feel very comfortable. They sell comfort shoes for all ages, not just grandma. Karaval sells cute comfortable shoes and sandals for people with normal feet to wide feet. They have very limited options in narrow sizes. So if you wear a narrow shoe or need a shoe that can accomodate orthotics (something with removable insoles) you are very unlikely to find a shoe you can wear at Karaval. Cons: Few narrow shoes more

I have a large foot with a small instep, therefore I have to have special shoes made to fit my foot. Karavel shoes is able to cater to my needs. They have a pretty decent selection of othopedic shoes in differnt styles. I like the more earthy colored/styled shoes, and they usually are able to accomidate my requests. They are somewhat pricey, but not really since they sell specialty shoes. They staff has always been very helpful in helping me make sure my shoes are the perfit fit. more

This place was a godsend for me, after having 2 foot surgeries. They have many different styles, both in dress & athletic shoes that are actually COMFORTABLE. And contrary to the perception that orthopedic shoes have to look stodgy, they have alot of stylish women's shoes. Couple this with the fact that I have the hardest size in the world to fit (9.5 AA/AAA), this is about the only place in Austin that I shop at now for shoes. The staff is knowledgeable & friendly. My husbnad has to wear special shoes and we have a really hard time finding shoes that will work for him. Karavel has a good selection of orthopetic shoes that are not too hideous. more

I visited Karavel Shoes for the first time recently on the recommendation of friends after enduring a couple of months of foot pain that I had unsuccessfully tried to treat using Dr. Scholls gel insoles. I was extremely impressed by the knowledgeable and friendly staff. Lonny Johnson examined the pressure points on the soles of my feet and suggested an off-the-shelf orthotic device that almost immediately eliminated my foot pain. Eric Arnold in the New Balance Shop was very attentive and helpful as I selected a new pair of walking shoes. Karavel has some really great selections on adult and especially kid shoes. They're a bit pricey but we get all our little ones first walkers here (better for their feet) and the quality is excellent. The staff is so ready to help but not to the point of being obnoxious. They also carry orthopedic shoes and special order items. Can't beat the quality of these great shoes and boots! more

I limped in painfully and left in heavenly comfort! Jeff greeted us right away and knew all about my foot condition. He made recommendations and let me try on lots of shoes. He was incredibly patient, helpful, and cheerful, even while serving three customers at a time. He stayed past closing to let me make up my mind. I just love Karavel. My husband and I went there, and the staff spent a good 45 minutes patiently helping him find 2 attractive pairs of shoes that really fit his feet. After one staff member thought she had found a good fit, she called a manager over for a second opinion. Those shoes have been an excellent buy. We bought them 13 months ago. Both pairs still fit, and still look great. I went back on another trip to buy dress shoes for myself, and again had the staff patiently bring out as many pairs of shoes as I wanted to try. I had such a great experience that I sent two girlfriends. They had an equally good time. Both came back with new shoes that are both dressy and far more comfortable than the usual. more
