Just Brakes = worst experience ever 2/3/2011

Bait and Switch! I'm sure everyone has heard the ads claiming they do all for 4 wheels brake pads and machine roters for $99.88. Of course I get my car looked at and they put a $1200 quote in front of me. I dont have enough time to get 2nd opinions with my schedule and was able to negotiate it down to $700. \r \r First of all, if you can negotiate prices at a car repair shop you know they have some pretty ridiculos margins built into their price.\r \r They did the work and now my brakes have a high pitched squeak every time I apply pressure!\r \r The first time I took my truck back Jason wouldnt even look me in the eyes and told me to drive it more and it should go away.\r \r The second time he test drove it and ""couldnt hear what I was talking about.""\r \r The third time I took time out of my day to fix this problem that shouuld of never happpened, I took the mechanic for a test drive to make sure he heard what I did. Now they are trying to charge me an additional $500 to fix what they broke!\r \r Im dealing with corporate right now, but its safe to say this is the WORST experience I have ever had with any business EVER. They are scam artists at best and you would be doing yourself a favor to completely avoid them.\r \r UPDATE***** After talking with corporate, Russell, the GM from 8335 Research called and asked that I bring my car in to make it right. At first I was reluctant since I had already made 3 trips to the other location. I decided to go anyways. Russell went on a test drive with me and assured he would take care of me. Just by talking with him, I could tell he was honest and wanted to get the job done right (completely opposite from my experience at the other location). He never made an excuse for what had happened and explained that his objective is to take care of the customer, not upsell to make a commission.\r \r He got the work done in a timely manner and went above and beyond all expectations. He replaced more than he needed to and my brakes work perfect.\r \r I would strongly recommend taking your car to this location. My review for my experience there would be 5 stars. more

Just keep driving by and don't stop at this place. 9/26/2009

A competitor of this company did a detailed brake inspection and indicated that I needed new pads and to have the rotors turned. Since the estimate was higher than I expected I took it to Just Brakes. They told me that I needed to rebuild all calipers $220, replace clips $85, flush the braking system $40, and use ceramic instead of standard pads $85. So, the cost went up to over $500. The only thing that was remotely accurate was that I needed ceramic pads. But, these cost only $20 more than standard at the auto parts store. When I told them to put my car back together they started getting very pushy and really tried the hard sale with B***SH**. I had to mention the idea of calling the police if they did not give me my car back. When I saw the guy putting the calipers back on I noticed he was only tightening one bolt. I had to tell him to make sure both were tight. Finally, around the corner I got the brakes done for a little more than the $100 but they were done right. Stay away from these guys. Pros: Easy access to exit on 183 when leaving in a hurry Cons: Where do I start? more

Careful with the $99.99 teaser price 11/11/2007

Having shopped around for the best price on new pads and ground rotors, the $99.99 all inclusive price is hard to beat. However, they'll likely tell you your calipers need to be rebuilt (happened to myself as well as two friends, all who own late model import vehicles in for the first brake job), or try to find some part that may or may not need replacing. Your bill will jump to between $300-$400, guaranteed. If you decline to have the extra work done apart from the regular service, they only give you a 90 day warranty instead of the lifetime warranty. The quality was average. Ask if the pads they are using are OEM. I suspect mine are not, as brake dust is building on the front rims much faster now than with my old original factory pads. On the bright side, they did get the work done in a timely manner. Pros: Work done on time Cons: It will cost more than the $99.99 teaser, guaranteed! more

They lied, overcharged, and kept my car for six days. 2/21/2007

My car has been into this location twice. Once was for a brake flush, the second was to replace my CV joints. Ever since the flush my back brakes have been creaking, the sound of metal on metal anytime I stop. As for the CV joints.. what a nightmare. I called on a Tuesday to see if they could take my car the following day, and they said yes and gave me a quote. I brought it in the following morning, and they promised to have it ready by 5pm, and that they would call when it was done. At 5 I hadn't heard from them, so I called - they said they couldn't find the parts, so they'd have it done by tomorrow. Fine. The next day at 3pm I hadn't heard anything, so I called. Same old thing - no parts available from any of their suppliers, but my car was taken apart so I couldn't pick it up. I agreed to let them keep it another day. This went on for THREE MORE DAYS. I questioned why that when I called in that Tuesday to check if they could take me, they didn't check AVAILABILITY on parts when they told me that yes, they could. Secondly, CV joints for a Hyundai are NOT difficult to find. In the end they had to call in their guy who rebuilds the CVs, instead of replacing them. I asked if this held the same warranty as replacing them, and if the quality and price would be the same. He said yes. I agreed to do it. When I finally picked the car up, I found out he had lied about the warranty. it was HALF of what the other warranty would have been, AND they charged me more and wouldn't back down. I coughed up the money and left. I immediately noticed a metallic scraping sound on my right side, and an awful burning smell coming from under the car. I brought it back in and they said nothing was wrong. it's still not been fixed and they maintain that they have nothing to do with it. I also later found out that ""rebuilding the cv joints"" is simply replacing the boot and packing it with grease. I could have done that myself for $30. I spent $400, and my CV joints were never even replaced. more
