Buying a Car at Honda of Bellevue 5/14/2007

In 2005, we bought a used 2002 Honda Accord from the sales Rep - Cal Scott. He is the most down to earth, fair, helpful honest sales rep, especially for cars that we have ever had the honor to deal with. We also went back to him in March of 2006 when our daughter needed a car and got the same excellent service. He is very personable and a great person to work with. The final answer is when you are wanting to buy a car, ask for Cal Scott at Honda of Bellevue. more

The whole experience turned me off 5/2/2007

I came into Honda of Bellevue knowing exactly what I wanted (Honda Accord SE). I test drove the vehicle with their MSFT/Internet salesman and all seemed well. He quoted me a fair price to start out with for the car. However, he proceeded to add on $300+ of mandatory options that I didn't want. Sort of takes the "option" out of optional. He kept trying to talk over me and dismissed everything I said. I made it clear to him this upset me but he dismissed it, saying 'everyone wants these options.' I never knew wheel moldings were so popular... The kicker is that he refused to appraise my trade-in unless I signed paperwork committing to buy the car from him. What a joke! I've never heard of such a thing from any dealership. You may have better luck with a different salesman, but it's my opinion that you should avoid this place like the plague. I was treated a lot better at each of the area dealerships I visited, so I don't think my standards are particularly high. more

Honda of Bellevue 4/26/2006

This is an easy one. Get a brand spankin' new Honda Odyssey from Shelia Locke at Honda of Bellevue. I think our entire transaction took about 2 hours. She is no-nonsense yet personable, customer service is great (although we've had NO problems w/ our van, just regular maintenance) and the Odyssey is, well, just flat out the best mini van out there. For the record, I'm jealous if you get a van that has a remote open back door. more

Bellevue Honda--Best Honda Dealer in WA!!!! 3/24/2006

My recent hunt for a new car was frustrating! I started off looking at a Mazda down in Renton, and the guy who showed me the car gave us the keys and let us test drove on our own so he can take a smoke break! That was weird. We then left Mazda and headed to Kirkland's Honda to check out the new civic. When we first entered, we weren't ready to buy (since we hadn't done our research on any of the Hondas except for the Mazdas), a sales person approached us and was giving us the sales pitch of how the Civic won the Motor Trend of the year. We didn't cared much, we were just looking. We decided to test drive it anyhow, after test driving it, the guy was really trying to sell it to us! I mean, he even brought the manager down to work with us on the price! The listing price was like $20,000, we told him if they can give it to us for $16,500 we will take it right away w/o doing any consumer research. We were quite amused how hard they tried to keep us. The manager then counter offered us with $17,100! That's like $200 below invoice! The truth was we didn't want to buy b/c we didn't do any research. We told them that we would do research and will come back if we decide to buy. Bare with me, this is a long story to tell. We went home, got on the net and did some research, we then called Auburn Honda, and told them what Kirkland was offering us (in an attempt to get a lower price). They told us they can't discuss pricings unless we came down. We told them we would only come down if they could at least match and they said they're sure they can work something out. Well, when we got there, the care they showed us and said they were going to beat or match was a manual! The quote we got was for an automatic at Kirkland! The sales guy was like, "I'm sorry, but I thought you guys were talking about the manual, that's why I can afford to beat the price." We were like fine, we're going to take off, another sales person took over and was like, let us work with you and sell this car to you. To make the story short, we sat there for an hour and was ready to buy as long as they agreed with $17,100 with 4.9% financing. The sales guy orally agreed and he went back to his manager to have him sign off. Well, little be hold, the came back and was like we can't do it because it's impossible for the car to be that low with al l the accessories it has in it (which is only the mudflaps, valued at $180). He said he will sell it if we paid $17,100 plus the $180 (mudflap price) and at 4.9%. We were so pissed! We sat there for an hour! Did the financing papers and everything and he came out and basically took back the initial offer! By this time, we were feeling really duped and had a sour taste. We basically gave them a lecture and left. The manager didn't even come out, the sales person basically said we lied b/c there is no way a dealer would give such a low offer. The next day we went back to Kirkland and was ready to buy at the $17,100. We came to see the manager, and they were all super busy. He stuck us with such an idiot! This guy was totally monotone and didn't even tried hard to sell us the car. He said the car can't be sold for $17,100 and the color we wanted is not in stock. We would have to wait for 10 days for it to come in. We asked about the sister's dealre (Bellevue), and the sales person said Bellevue didn't have the colors we wanted either. Luckily, my smart friend called Bellevue and they said they had 2 of each color we wanted, (Galaxy Grey or Blue). He basically lied to us! We then just left and said no thanks. We drove to Bellevue and met Cal, the greatest sales person ever! We told him what we've been through and we're tired of negotiating, either beat it of match it and we'll take it. He was like okay, he took it back to his manager and got us the deal in 5 minutes! Great guy! And it was even at 4.9% financing! Not haggling, such a great feeling! The financing was quick and the service was exceptional! I definitely would reccomend going there to buy a car and no where else! Defintiely not Hinshaw Honda (Auburn) or Kirkland!! Moral of the story here is if you're a salesperson, be honest and let the buyer decide to buy. We did get a great deal though, the average person pays $17,300 for the car! Phew...finally done! more

An honestly pleasant car-buying experience (honestly!) 2/28/2006

I made my first--and only--car purchase with Honda Auto Center of Bellevue and I can say it was a dream. As if the stress of such a major purchase that would lose value the minute I drove it off the lot wasn't enough, I kept envisioning the absolute worst. There have been enough horror stories about young women entering car lots as novices, and after visiting a few dealerships, I can see why those stories exist. Luckily I had the exact opposite experience at this dealership. When I started my car hunt, my officemates directed me to a fellow coworker who is a car aficionado, having bought, sold and owned dozens of vehicles. After telling him I was in the market for a Civic, he immediately directed me to Honda Auto Center of Bellevue. My coworker guaranteed me that Honda Auto Center of Bellevue was one of the the best dealerships he'd worked with. Besides having a large inventory, the dealership employed good people. He then directed me to Tony, his salesman of choice. As Tony wasn't available the first time I visited Honda, Kevin was my salesman. It almost feels wrong to write "salesman", though, as he doesn't embody the stereotypes normally attached to that position. Kevin managed to be attentive without being invasive. He answered my questions as needed, gave me service advice (he'd worked as a mechanic) and never gave me a barrage of calls, as I found to be true with other reps I met during my research. Perhaps the sell was easier with me, as I grew up in family of Honda fans. Still, I waited a week before making my purchase and I never felt pressured or out of communication with him, even on his days off. (I tend to ask a lot of questions. Maybe I should be commending his patience, too.) When I made my purchase, it was a price I was happy about and a decision which I had confidence in. I didn't have my financing handled by the dealership, so I can't speak to that. I can say that the paperwork process appeared to be handled in an orderly and professional fashion. Although they did try to sell me a warranty, the speech was brief and after I declined their offer, there was no extra hassle. Since the purchase, I have had only positive comments on the care of the car (a few mechanics now) and no extraneous communication from Honda; just a few discount flyers in the mail. Once I left the lot with my keys, I haven't had any need to call them back--except maybe to say thank you. I don't know if I could have had a better buying experience. more

Car Service 12/30/2005

We didn't buy our van at Honda of Bellevue (because they didn't have the color we wanted in stock), but we do get our van serviced there. When I got the first oil change and service done, I just waited there while they did it. They have a nice waiting room with magazines and toys. They seemed well-organized, got us in right away, and came and told me when the service was done. more

OK service, but misses a few details 8/16/2005

I took my car here to get serviced a few months ago, and I was disappointed to find that the price of service was higher than what other area Honda dealers had offered. Also, while the service was performed quickly, they neglected to take care of the one issue that I had specifically requested they look at and I later realized they had dropped the ball on washing my car, which was advertised as an included service. I was disappointed and don't plan on returning. more

Internet Salesman Not Very Helpful 8/10/2005

So I've got a busy schedule and a family situation that doesn't allow me to run all over creation talking to car dealers. I've been trying to take advantage of internet quotes to see what is in stock at the local dealers and who is going to be the most competitive. I submitted a request for a quote by email using the tool on their site asking for a response by email. Instead I got a call from someone on my cell. I explained that I was in the market for a car, had limited time and wanted to know what certain models were going for. What followed was the biggest load of bull**** I've ever heard. Cutting to the chase, this guy wasn't going to give me a quote, but wanted me to trust him - he wasn't interested in the price but instead just wanted to sell me the car. I got quotes from other dealers in town and they were more than helpful than this complete waste of time. I will do everything in my power not to buy a car from here thanks to this experience. more

We Love Our Honda! 8/1/2005

We bought a used Honda CR-V from Honda of Bellevue a few years ago, and we are very happy with it. We had a good experience when we went in to buy the car. The salesperson was very nice, and didn't make us feel pressured at all. We liked them so much that we use their auto repair center to maintain our car. They send us reminders of when to bring the car in, so it's really easy to keep the car in good repair. more
