My wife and I have been having Farrah cut our hair for almost 10 years. My wife is very loyal but I have tried others and am never happy with the outcome. Farrah is consistant, friendly and a pleasure to work with. Jamie and the rest of the staff are always welcoming when we arrive. Keep up the good work. See you in about 4 weeks! more

I travel 4 hours for the best Short Haircut! 8/2/2011

I have been getting my hair cut by Gaire Ebben for over 20 years now. I have followed him from Lake Calhoun, to an Aveda Salon and now where he currently styles hair at The Hair District. I took a sabbatical from Gaire, in hopes that I could find a stylist locally. You see, I have been living in Wisconsin for about 8 years now. I tried every Salon up here (in the Ashland, Bayfield, Washburn area) to no avail. It seems most stylists are afraid to cut short, curly hair. Either they don't cut it short enough, or they cut my hair like a man. It was my husband who said to me, ""You need to go back to Gaire for your haircuts"" and surprised me by setting up an appointment for me this summer. I felt like I was home again. Jamie at the front desk is so helpful and sweet. She has been working with Gaire since the beginning. A bright and big space, a friendly atmosphere, and personal attention. Best of all, I get the greatest, sexiest haircut ever! PRO's: free parking, great atmosphere, experienced stylists CON's: price is not like a Wisconsin haircut (under $20) but it's worth it anyways. more

Stalking a Stylist 12/29/2008

Stephanie first cut and highlighted my hair at a different salon closer to my home. When I found out a month later that she had left that salon, I was devastated! I went as far as creating a Facebook account to try tracking her down and guess what? It worked! I drive to Edina from Maple Grove to have my hair cut, but she is so worth it! She has an incredible intuition about her craft. She knows what my hair will and will not do. I think she is truly an artist when it comes to creating a style to suit the wearer, and she has wonderful ideas for things a customer may wish to try. I understand why she chose The Hair District as her venue. It has a pleasant, comfortable, but very professional, atmosphere. If you're going to be there a couple hours for a cut and color, you should feel comfortable. Pros: Highly qualified, experienced stylists Cons: Had to ask another local business for directions more

Great cut. Great atmosphere. 9/25/2008

I got my hair cut by Shanna today and it was great. Someone I work with said I should go to The Hair District and I can see why. Her hair was good and mine turned out good too. The price is fair and the atmosphere is nice, clean and they are all friendly there (at least with the people I talked to). Shanna listened to what I wanted, gave me her two sense about what she thought about it. She wants me back for a color now too because she liked to do my hair. That shows she likes doing what she does. The only thing that I don't like was trying to find the place. It's not easy to see at first. You have to park in the parking ramp then find it and that con is not even a big deal. I say to all go and enjoy. Pros: Great cut, good price, nice, clean place. Cons: A little hard to find for your first time going there. more

Hidden Treasure 4/24/2007

You have to go see Shanna at the Hair District in Edina. I had never been there before and actually had never seen it before either. It is shoved in the back of a walkway/sidewalk thing next to a parking ramp off 51st. and by lunds. I think the walkway comes from 50th street...anyway......I had just called in and didn't care who I saw and happend to get Shanna. WOw! My haircut is fantastic, I thought I could never get a cut that just fell in place but with this one it does!!! She listened and cared and wasn't too pushy with anything. Very relaxing atmosphere as well! Pros: You get exactly what you want Cons: A little spendy more

Best Salon in the Twin Cities 10/3/2006

A must see at the Hair District is Andrea Hunt, I have never been happier with my hair color!!! She had great new ideas for my hair when I had no idea what to do with what I had. The salon is fun and energetic especially with Jamie at the front desk she'll make you laugh til you want to cry!!!! Pros: free parking, salon has great music, art and photos on the wall more

Tony Risso at the Hair District has the best cuts around 8/13/2006

Tony has such a way with looking at a person's face and knowing what looks good on them, Pros: Fresh ideas, very current, modern yet classic! more

Best Cut in Years! 8/24/2002

Carol at the Hair District really is amazing--I took a chance based on the previous review and walked out with the best cut I've had in a very long time. Had a boring shoulder-length blunt cut for years, because I've never found a stylist really good at layering my fine, limp hair. Carol listened and had great advice, as well as working wonders with her scissors. Told her what I wanted, and that's exactly what I got. Went from long hair to relatively short and love it! Pros: Great stylist, Individual attention, Good parking more

No Barbie Hair Here 7/17/2002

When you find a good stylist; people let you know with compliments. Carol at the Hair District has gotten me quite a few compliments. My fine, straight hair doesn't hold a style; a good cut is top priority. Carol gives great haircuts that hold shape for months. She is also an excellent colorist. The best thing about Carol is she always has new ideas. Instead of getting stuck in a hairstyle rut, she will think of a twist on an old style or a new idea. Resulting in a fresh look every time. A friend who I referred to Carol said that her whole life she had never had anyone tell her, ""nice hair."" After her initial visit to Carol, she had several strangers compliment her cut. For an initial visit I suggest you tell her what you'd like and then ask her what she thinks. You'll be guaranteed compliments. Pros: stylist, fresh ideas, continuing education Cons: salon plays bad muzak more
