My boyfriend and I went here one night unaware of the new gallery opening - which didn't start until 9PM it was only 6PM. we kinda walked aroudn and acted liek we knew what we were doing haha. But one of the watchers came up to us and asked if we needed help, he showed us the way to the front destk and there the lady gave us 2 free passes! It was really great. I recommend this for a first date!
Pros: clean and sheek
Cons: weird hours.

This is a very interesting, quirky, museum in Minneapolis. Founded by Earl E. Bakken who invented the first transistorized pacemaker.
Centered around learning about electricity and magnetism there are several exhibits and hands on activities to interest kids and adults. You can play a Thermin [first elcetronic musical instrument], generate a 60,000 volt spark or visit Frankensteins Laboratory.
I agree it isn't huge or overly impressive but is a nice stop to add when checking out a historic neighborhood of Minneapolis or if you are studying the concepts with a class of children.

The MIA houses a world-class permanent collection, and also features impressive traveling exhibitions--most recently a show on Georgia O'Keeffe. Admittance is free, although visitors are welcome to make a donation. The Art Speaks audio tours are $4 ($3 for seniors, students, and kids) Tuesday through Saturday, and free on Sunday.
It would be harder to find a better value for your money, whether you visit for a romantic date, an educational outing with the kids, or just a chance to relax and feel inspired about the world.

The Walker Art Center is an excellent modern art museum. It is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Remodled just recently, the museum is now much bigger and includes a Wolf Gang Puck restaurant. While some of the exhibits may seem to be "too" modern for some, the museum gives a wide variety of what modern art entails. The Walker also offers classes, tours, films, and lectures.
