This amazing coffee house is located in the heart of the Uptown district in Minneapolis. Housed in an old Victorian-style home, the owners of Uncommon Grounds have created a unique, pleasant atmosphere in which old instrumental tunes play softly in a seating area covered in old-fashioned wallpaper and filled with plush antique benches and old tables. I haven't had many of their beverages, unfortunately -- their chai is way too addictive -- but considering the quality of that particular drink I'm betting that the others are just as amazing.

Key's Cafe is a local restaurant chain that serves down-home, old fashioned comfort food. Key's has a good menu that features burgers, sandwiches, salads, and great salads. They also have HUGE delicious monster cookies. You will not go hungry here. The portions are huge! The sandwiches and burgers are very large. One of my favorite meals is the veggie sandwich..served warm with melted cheese on veggies on bread. Complete with sunflower seeds!

Sarah Janesis a Husband & Wife Team owned and they do a wonderful Job. They have won Best Twin Cities Bakery quite a few times if I'm not mistaken.
We have tried their cookies, pastries and doughnuts and loved them all but this place will always have a special appreciation from us. They made our Wedding cake and I do think it was the best tasting one I've ever had [I'm not just biased because it was my wedding-lol].
The cake was light and moist, the frosting was delicious- not too sweet but lots of flavor, The decorating was BEAUTIFUL! They lent us the tiers to set it up at our reception and all we had to do was drop them off assoon as we could.
They are also very reasonably priced considering how in demand they seem to be! 2 thumbs up!

The Holy Land been a neighborhood landmark in NE Mpls for a long time. They have recently expanded and revamped a bit and it looks great. They specialize in, obviously, Middle Eastern Food, and sure do know what they are doing! We've stopped in just for their homemade humus and pitas for appetizers when we have friends over and their Gyros are amazing and huge! They also have an olive bar that a friend of mine is crazy about. You can eat there or take it out, either way this is delicious food!

Vera's is a really great coffee shop. It has a ton of atmosphere, from the cafe's eccentric decor, to the characters who spend hours at a time here reading, working or chatting up other patrons.
As for the stuff you have to pay for--the coffee and baked goods are high quality, but stay away from the egg dishes, unless you prefer to eat eggs that have been cooked via steam from a milk frother.
The patio area is a little claustrophobic, as it is walled in on three sides, with a wrought iron fence for the fourth. The good part about it is that they let you bring your dog out here, and will provide both fresh water and treats for your pooch upon request.
And, if you walk across the bridge to the neighboring Lyndale Greenway entrance, you will be treated to the horticultural glory that is Vera's Garden. It is an amazing stretch of mostly annual plantings that shouldn't be missed.

The smells, the colors, and of course, the goodies! All are wonderful at Wuollets. For special occasions, the cakes and tortes are delicious. The cake decorators do custom decoration jobs if you order in advance, and they have always done a great job, even with difficult requests. Also a great choice for a quick cup of coffee and donut or roll in the morning. Baked items aren't greasy like they are at a grocery store bakery. If you like cardamom, the sticky rolls have a noticeable amount of it in them.

Sonny's ice cream is great, especially tiramisu - but they carry many flavors and rotate them often .each batch is handmade a few blocks away from the store. Sonny's carries a few desserts that look delicious and variety of coffee, though I've never tried them. Sonny's has a little patio (you won't find it unless you know it's there) with European feel, so inviting and cozy.

Acadia Cafe isn't your normal neighborhood cafe. Located on Franklin and Nicollet, this cafe offers a huge selection of tap beers and wine, as well as decent food at a moderately high price. But after you've downed a few taps that you can't find anywhere else, you'll just about pay anything for some reasonable food. Adjacent to the cafe is a theater with music, drama skits, etc every night of the week. Cover charges are usually less than $5. This cafe is the hidden treasure that everyone should discover. It's perfect for a club meeting, working brunch, or a quiet night out from the frat boys hollering to their friends on cell phones about how drunk they are.

This is the best bakery in Mpls, and I have tried them all! The cakes are incredible, as are the pastries and breads. The prices are also exceptional, given the quality of the products. You won't be disappointed!

Yes, the glazed raised donuts are wonderful. And the donut holes are perfect for kids, and quite a bargain. But the chocolate iced mini-eclairs are worth driving across town for. The cream puffs are heavenly, too. Apple fritters are not my cup of tea, but my husband says they are the best in town. Don't go expecting a coffee-shop feel, it's not somewhere to hang out. And be warned there are flies in the non-AC bldg in ther summer (but not in the bakery cases!). The homemade, bakery goods are simply delicious.
