Best

Great beer selection. Great TV's. Great crowd! Pros: FUN

Worst

Big, crowded loud, with lots of TVs on Russian Hill. Seriously, this place doesn't need a review - you could guess what it will be like from a mile away. Only reason I wrote thi...

Great place to watch games. 5/17/2010

Great place to watch the games. I used to go to this place all the time to watch the games and have a few beers with friends. It is not too crowded but definitely has some great people to chat with while rooting on your favorite team. more

best sports bar in SF 7/6/2009

Great beer selection. Great TV's. Great crowd! Pros: FUN more

Fun but crowded gameday spot. 6/5/2009

I love watching games here. The beer is reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. It can be really hard to get a seat here during popular events ... we were late and missed out on watching the Cal-USC game here last year. Get here early or you'll be watching from outside! more

The worst sports experience ever 3/18/2009

This bar is a total disgrace. It is filled with posers that have no interest in the games on the TV. The bartender makes comments if you actually cheer for your team. The bathroom sink was overflowing with the former contents of a patrons stomach and the place is generally filthy. When I was there, locals rallied together and threw out a perfectly harmless fan for no good reason. Avoid this hell hole, there are many great sports bars in the city; this is not one of them. Pros: Decent Beer List Cons: Everything else, filthy, pompous non-sports fans everywhere more

Great 1/21/2009

Fun place to watch a game. The neighborhood is a great place to explore. The crowd is usually pretty young but there are a few oldies but goodies in the crowd. more

My favorite SF Sports Bar 10/1/2006

Green's is my favorite place to catch the March Madness Tourney, or watch college football when my home team is away. The staff is really friendly--particularly Shannon, the most patient cocktail waitress on the planet--and the environment is really chill. Pros: Great staff, great attitude, awesome place to watch sports Cons: can get crowded more

Greens 6/18/2006

This is another locals' favorite sports bar in a convenient location on Polk. It gets especially crowded in the back and is probably busiest during college football season, when people all turn out to root for their alma maters - usually a 20s-30s crowd, but not exclusively. more

Love love love this place 9/27/2005

Friendly bartenders; way friendly fellow customers; everyone is hanging around and rooting for their teams and good naturedly heckling each other. Joy! Pros: clientele, many tvs, beer Cons: not enough seats more

Great Times 9/20/2005

Great place, good people, and hot waitresses! Everyone........just get out of their way when they have 16 beers on a tray. more

Best Sports Bar in the City! 2/27/2005

For those of you that have moved to SF and are dying to find a place where you can see your favorite hometown teams - look no further, Green's is the place to go. Not only do they offer every good game possible on HDTV, but just ask Serge (the owner) and he'll try and accommodate your strangest request (Iowa basketball anyone?). Plus, the staff is really friendly and the place is chill. more

Better than home 11/30/2004

This is a great place! I went to watch a game and ended up staying all day. It was so much fun! There are so many TVs- even a big screen with HD-couldn't believe it! It was better than home! Pros: TV's, Fun, Friendly more

Greatest sf sports bar 10/17/2003

I love this place. I am new to the city and this is the first place that I have been to that made me feel like this was home! This is a great place to watch a game! The energy in there makes you feel like you are at the game- best bar I have been to here! Pros: crowd, service, good drinks more

It is what it is 6/2/2003

Big, crowded loud, with lots of TVs on Russian Hill. Seriously, this place doesn't need a review - you could guess what it will be like from a mile away. Only reason I wrote this review is that there are several really poor bartenders there and it often takes an unreasonably long time to get a drink, seemingly because they don't feel like getting around to it. more

Best place to watch sports 2/2/2003

This place makes it so easy! No matter where you sit or how crowded it is, you can see every sports game at the same time! It's unbelievable! I wish I would have known about this place sooner! Pros: fun, inexpensive, great happy hour more

A Good Old Fashioned Sports Bar 11/7/2002

There is always a fresh pint of beer, a game on TV, and a local patron ready to engage you in a debate on the sport of your choice. Although the regulars tend to be pro New York, the bay area teams are a close second. The bar can become a meat market when the payoffs are on, but is perfect to sit back and watch the Warriors take on the Grizzlies or a Bass Masters tournament. The service is great and my only complaint would be that there is a little too much Boston on the jukebox and one terribly obnoxious regular who pawns himself off as a Colorado fan. Corky Vickers more

The Good, Bad and Ugly 11/7/2002

Where else can you get TWO beers for $3 during happy hour? So many bitch about the staff but after a few visits they'll look after you fairly well. If anything the younger poser/pick-up scene is most annoying. The open air porch area and numerous TVs make up for the smaller space, which they've used well. Green's defines ""Sports Bar"" to a tee. (And Serge is HOT!) Pros: Game view capacity, Happy Hour, Serge Cons: Crowded, non-fan posers, Steve Davey more

Best happy hour deal in the city 10/20/2002

This is hands down the best sports bar in the city. Bayside gets too crowded, and the people there aren't real fans. Greens is not about pushing food or a one time experience on its customers. Greens has loyal regulars that know sports. Jen is the best waitress. When you go ask for Jen. She's the one with the big smile. more

Why Choose Another Place? 10/2/2002

Greens Sports Bar is one of the only Bars in San Francisco that is so down to earth and makes you feel like your on the east coast. The staff is wonderful, the atmosphere is great and you couldn't ask for more from a sports bar. For those of you who don't appreciate it....go some place else. This bar provides the best service in the bay area. I wouldn't hang out anyplace else! Pros: Great to watch sports, Great crowd, Minus the snobs more

Obnoxious People Abound 8/7/2002

The previous reviewer is correct. The people on both sides of the bar are arseholes and they smell like it too. The beer lines are never cleaned so the beer tastes awful. Never again more

dive! dive! dive! 5/29/2002

Davey Jones' Locker is what awaits you here, sunk in the cold and dark depths of the ocean of oblivion. This place is either heaving, where you run the gauntlet of annoyed pedistrians on the sidewalk or completely empty. I prefer it empty, as at least you can get served in a timely, if not, welcome manner. Service is bad, atmosphere is dire, no food, no snacks, expensive even for russian hill, overall crappiness prevails. Cons: Poor service, Expensive, Bad atmosphere more
