My girlfriend her 11 year old son and myself went to Golden Nugget on Sunday June 8th 2008 at 3:15 p.m. to eat. We were directed to seat ourselves and we did. A young waiter about 17yrs. old, brings us three glasses of ice water. He leaves and returns with the menu's. Upon putting the menus down on the table, he knocks over a full glass of ice cold water on my girlfriends 11yr. old kid. He apologized and tried to cleaned up the mess while we moved to another table. It looks like it was his first time serving and he looked nervous. It was a little upsetting as you can imagine considering that we had to go somewhere right after and could not return home to change clothes.We ate, food is was ok but they raised the prices so not really worth the price. The check arrives. My girlfrind asks the new waitress nicely ""will we be getting a discount for the spilled water on the kid? She goes and checks with the manager. She returns and we get a ""NO"". This is my first review and I just had to write this one because I was so surprised at the bad service and the unclean restrooms in golden nuggets in Chicago on Diversy and Clark. I have been a fan of Golden Nuggets for 18 years. I have taken my family their numerous times because the food is great and the service was outstanding. The Golden Nugget restaurants are what you'd expect for a family type sit-down restaurant: nothing fancy, affordable food, and a good variety. I've always been a fan of their buttermilk pancakes, which they advertise as being made from scratch - no pre-made mixes here. They are fluffy and fantastic! As for the rest of their dishes, they are tasty, sometimes greasy depending on the dish, (how can fried eggs and potatoes NOT be greasy? =P ) and a good value for the money.
