Being first time vistors to Chicago and excited about visiting Greektown, we were more than impressed with Parthenon. We are always exploring authentic Greek restaurants and this one tops our list. After being told it was an hour wait at the neighboring Athena restaurant, where there were empty tables everywhere and no one waiting to be seated, we walked into Parthenon where hungry, waiting people were crammed in the front area, the bar, and even flowing out the front doors. We were told that it could be an hour or more, but decided the wait would be worth it. We were seated after only 30 minutes (this was Valentine's day and a Saturday night) and served bread and drinks straight away. Being quite familiar with Greek cuisine, we were impressed at the variety of choices on the menu. We chose the family style menu, and the food started coming right away. The waiters were hurried, but never rude. The portions were generous and the prices extremely reasonable. There was so much food, that by the time our main courses came out, we had to box it all up and take it back to our hotel. Parthenon made our first visit to Greektown pleasant and memorable!
Pros: authentic atmosphere, large portions, great value

If you like casual, neighborhood bar scenes this place is perfect. It's really unpretensious and ridiculously fun. The bartenders are absolute characters and the servers are always entertaining. It's hard to find a bar that you can hang out at multiple times a week and actually get to know and enjoy the people who work there. On occasion I've stopped in by myself and had a great time just sitting at the bar, hanging out and talking to people. Sunday brunch is the best and If you haven't been there on a sunday night for live karaoke you're missing out, sometimes it's crowded but so much fun.

A friend of mine took me to this great restaurant (supper club). The prices are just right with specials almost every night. If you ask anyone what the best dish is they will tell you the sloppy joe's with tater tots. I know this is something your mom made for you when you were a kid, but oh man is it great. Everything from appetizers, soups, to burgers are great as well. Oh yeah, if you want to watch a game there are plenty of tv's and the bar serves great mixed drinks and has a great beer and wine selection. This is a must when in the Wikerpark neighborhood.

When visiting Chicago from San Diego, I was lucky enough to have my friend, and business colleague, William, take me to his favorite deli.
I ordered the Salmon Salad Sandwich and asked the best bread to eat it on. The owner suggested Halla bread. I was so pleasantly surprised - this was the most amazing sandwich that I've ever eaten. There was not a lot of "filling" or mayo, mostly fresh salmon, and it was such an experience. I even told the manager that he had to open a shop in San Diego, to which he replied, " I can send you the Salmon Salad on dry ice."!! OMG.
They are friendly, family oriented and the food kept me going back for the three weeks I was there. The best food ever from a deli.
Pros: Only good things to say. It's a very casual dining experience with everyone very friendly.
Cons: None except that I live in San Diego!

If you don't mind waiting 30 minutes to be sat for your weekend breakfast or brunch, definitely request a patio seat at Stella's on Broadway. It's hard to beat any patio dining during the summer in Chicago, but, nothing beats patio dining on Broadway. I had pancakes with an assortment of fresh fruit, a side of chicken/apple sausage (a delicious/light alternative), and the best OJ I've had in quite awhile. My understanding is the omelets, french toast, and coffee were excellent as well. Highly recommend!!!
Pros: Outdoor dining on Broadway, fresh fruit, excellent light dining alternatives, and OJ.
Cons: The parking garage 50 yards away had a loud horn that kept going off. There server said it was a malfunction and normally doesn't occur.
