Fabulous For Color and Cuts 9/2/2009

I started going to Yosh right out of college in 1991, and have NEVER been disappointed with a cut or color. Being in the arts, I don't have a million dollars, but I made going to Yosh a priority because it pays to maintain a chic, professional look. Last minute appointments are usually not a problem -- which I really appreciate given my hectic, changing schedule. The place is elegant, clean, stocked with the latest fashion magazines and replete with wonderful coffees and snacks provided gratis. Their work really is wonderful, consistent and reliable. I have received admiring comments and compliments about my hair for eighteen years! The staff is a little distant, but they are friendly and very efficient. I appreciate their distance, actually, having been ""chatted up"" at other salons. You can relax at Yosh and settle in for a morning or afternoon without being pestered by personal questions and so on. I highly recommend this salon and I am very difficult to please! best stylist/hair cut 8/1/2008

I read the negative review about this salon and decided to share my positive experience. I was there for a custom highlight and hair cut one day. When I decided I wanted the color changed after it was completed, I was immediately attended to with no complaint from the staff. Since I was there longer than the usual time it takes to do a highlight, I was politely offerred food AND beverages. They have a coffee/ juice bar and often have snacks on the same table. The head colorist even offered me lunch when I was there! Now thats what I call service! Pros: Professional experienced stylists, friendly staff, prompt service Cons: spendy but worth it more

hi, our mother used to work at this salon when it was previously owned by Yosh. It was amazing, always busy and the people are great. You got really good cuts and color and well worth the price. We've just read some previous reviews, and i'm telling you, do not listen to these people that say they were bad. All the workers are amazing and good friends, they do a fabulous job, and are NEVER snobby. Gina is great too, and I don't see how you these people can give such terrible reviews. Oh and whoever wrote that article that never writes articles. Yeah news flash for you, if you're late anywhere, people are going to be a little mad because you scheduled your appointment and hair dressers have a lot of people to fit into one day. So don't write reviews again because you are wrong. This information comes from two girls whose mother used to work there and is a fabulous hair dresser. Yosh For Hair is a fabulous place to go, and you all should go for a conseltation today. :] Pros: Great Ambience, Great people, Great everything! Cons: there are none more

Busy place....but a great place to go. 7/14/2006

WOW!!! This place can get jammed packed. The place is a bit crowded and busy. But just as long as I get accomodated and my service is done perfect, I'm all for this salon. I've been coming here for a little over a year. I see Melinda for cuts and Tiffany for color. I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE THEM!!!! See these ladies if you do ever want a great cut and/or color. Bad Place - Stay away 4/12/2006

This place is terrible - Stay away - there are far too many great plans to have your hair done in SF. These people really gave me bad haircuts and not good color. And color doens't even come with a blow-out - ridiculous! Not to mention the staff is way snobby and aloof - like they're doing me the favor rather than ME PAYING THEM. THE place for a day of luxury and style 1/16/2006

How anyone can possibly not enjoy their experience at Gina Khan's Salon is beyond comprehension! You walk into a stylish decor and ready snacks and beverages, a friendly staff is available to take care of your every need, you can even get manicures and pedicures there now. I myself have been here for two thermal reconditionings to straighten my out of control curly hair - and could not be more pleased with the results. I feel welcome and well treated for the whole 8 hours (thats the length of the procedure for the thickness and lenth of my hair!!!) - how many places can you sit for 8 hours and be perfectly comfortable and well looked after??? There is no place I would trust for a thermal straightening other than Gina Khan's - no salon experience is complete witout a visit here!! Pros: Atmosphere, Skilled Stylists, Great Service more

Great Salon! 10/13/2005

I usually don't waste my time writing reviews, however when I jumped on to grab my salons # and saw a bad review had popped up... I had to disagree!!! I have referred many friends to this salon because I have found that they provide excellent service at a great price. I go to Isabella for color and she has taken me from Dark Brown to Blonde w/o damaging my hair and turning it orange. Ellie is also great for cuts....she does awesome blowouts. I am very picky and have tried many places in the past...this salon and Ellie and Isabella are the best in SF!!! more

my natural hair color is dark brown. i wanted to go lighter so i went to a salon and the colorist made my hair ORANGE with more orange highlights. i hated the way it looked. so a friend recommended isabella at yosh for hair. the first time she colored my hair she was very cautious as to not damage it, yet the result was a big improvement. the next time i went in the color was exactly what i wanted in the first place. i was thrilled. The best of the best 6/17/2005

I have had my hair cut here for over 20 years. I arrive feeling like an old bag and leave feeling I should be on the cover of Vogue because my straight hair now has movement, shape, style and glamor. My stylist does fresh new styles for me at my request. My daughter gets her hair colored a different color every 6 weeks because she loves change. The color job looks natural and glossy, not flat, dull and limp as elsewhere. Gina Khan has got to be THE premier colorists in SF. having taught so many in SF, Tokyo, Paris and around the US. Another bonus for me is seeing celebrities from the movies, sports and theatre. The salon is beautiful with fresh flowers, free beverages and client appreciation days. I feel relaxed and welcome there. If you love yourself you belong in this salon. Pros: Stylish cuts, Creative, Do bridal parties Cons: costly but worth it more

Best salon in the bay area 6/12/2005

What an incredible place. First, the service is amazing and feels like a 5-star resort. Everyone is friendly and goes out of their way to make you feel special. Second, the quality of their services is incredible. I've had great hair cuts/styles and have been going now for about 2 years. I've had several friends who have gone to Yosh for over 5 years and they refuse to go anywhere else. Finally, they truly have the latest and best technology and products -- I heard that their owner gets invited to attend international conferences/events to teach hair styling/coloring classes! I love YOSH for Hair Gina Khan. I have visited a number of the Yosh colorists, including award-winning Gina Khan, and stylists and have loved them all. I have found the staff to be friendly and knowledgable - giving me cuts and colors that suit my lifestyle (i.e. I need low maintenance, and a graceful look at the cut/color grows out since I am slow to come in for maintenance) - and every time I have been delighted with result. They always reassure when I try something different that if I am ever displeased, to call them and they will fix it (as all good Salons should). I know they are committed to me looking my best. Every woman wants gorgeus hair. And, every woman (over 35) wants to look younger and sexier. Well, I'm no exception. I went to Gina Khan Yosh for Hair to get help in that department. When I arrived at the salon, my hair was overstressed by bad haircuts, worn out bodywaves and a new crop of gray hairs. Gina Khan took on the challenge of giving me some stunning highlights that covered up my gray and breathed new life into my drab hair. Next, a fabulous haircut by Taide. I ended up with a beautiful layered look that gives me great verstility and easy care for my very active lifestyle. In the end, I got what every woman wants- gorgeous hair. a Bride's Dream Come True! 6/7/2005

My daughter and I chose Yosh for Hair Salon for the big event. After months of planning for the main event, I wanted my daughter to have all her fantasies realized. What could be more important to a bride than her gown, hair and makeup on that day. Her hair was styled expertly with the most careful attention to detail. The hair ornaments that were brought to the salon were placed just right. Yosh for Hair also had arranged an expert cosmetic artist to apply her makeup. Dear old mom got the royal treatment as well. My formal updo was stunning. I never looked so good before. The best part was that the salon staff made my daughter and I so relaxed that all our prenuptial jitters vanished. My daughter and I can't wait to go back for regular visits! more

Great Salon!!!! 6/7/2005

I've been a satisfied ""YOSH"" customer for 15+ years. People stop me on the street and even in my car to say ""great hair!"". Everyone is skilled and professional; the staff is friendly. There is a true ""family"" feeling as many employees have been there for many years. But don't think they're not ""hip"". I know they continually update their knowledge going to all the big hair shows, and keeping up on current trends. In my case, they've kept this 58 year old looking good inspite of the advancing effects of gravity. I wouldn't go anyplace else. Pros: results, competence, ambiance Cons: need to book ahead more

If you want crowd stopping hair go see Isabella at Yosh For Hair. Everywhere I go someone is telling me how beautiful my hair looks. The color is vivacious and it literally sparkles. As for the salon, it has a very warm and zen feeling which is very relaxing. All the people I've met there are very welcoming and are genuinely nice. But seriously, go see Isabella! I came into this salon and felt extremely intimidated. When I first met my stylist and colorist I was suprised how friendly they were. The price may not be that affordable, but the price meets up to the service. I guess some people expect more than others and thats why they complain about this salon. But I'm more than glad to be a client at YOSH. I get compliments all the time on my color and cut. They make me feel and look beautiful everytime I go there. RUDE - don't waste your time 3/2/2005

If you are looking to be pampered and at least come out with a decent do...forget it. The attitude at Yosh is unreal. Rude. Actually mean at times.
