Could you possibly turn up the heat anymore 8/17/2005

A hot summer in Chicago... and the Erie Cafe is running the heater, just to make the smoke-filled restaurant a bit more nauseating. The wanna-be classy place is extremely over priced, with the food comparable to McDonald's quality. The menu is very basic, with vague descriptions. Don't turn to the staff to explain any items on the menu -- few understand English. If you're thirsty, avoid this place. Sodas come in 6 oz bottles at nearly $6 each. more

  • In Short
A carnivorous crowd hangs out at this Gallery District steakhouse, which consists of a sunny front dining room and a brick-walled back room filled with a mostly male white-collar crowd. Toasted ravioli with blue cheese is a tempting starter on the Italian-influenced menu. For the main event, the petite filet mignon is paired with a heaping side of full-bodied lemon pepper-flavored broccoli. Gnocchi in tomato and basil sauce is a popular pasta dish.
