You probably will have better service and food at an OUTBACK STEAK HOUSE. Summer patio is nice BUT not worth the money or calories... Pros: Out door seating - calm \ chill ...

One of my FAVORITES 9/18/2009

I love this place. We have been several times and always had excellent service. The very best thing I've had... and the reason I will always go back.... is the grilled calamari appetizer. Delicous! The Mediterranean Pasta (also with calamari) is my 1st choice for dinner. I've had a steak only once, and it was ok but not memorable. When the weather is nice, the patio on the river is also lovely. Pros: free valet parking more

very good 7/29/2004

I am quite surprised at earlier reviews. Have been to Erie a dozen times. Food has always been much better than average. Steaks outstanding. Quality of personnel is superb. I highly recommend. Pros: great service, great food, valet parking more

Expensive for what you get 12/15/2003

The salad and potatoes that come with your $30. (plus) petite filet (which was tasty at med. rare) were AWFUL. Plain iceberg (read white) lettuce-and overdone, fried, hard cottage potatoes - unedible. For that kind of price, where's the nice spring mix greens? And at least include a baked potato. (extra potato choices are extra $$ as well as $7.50 side dish of mushrooms) Rip off. There are too many other wonderful places in Chicago to try Erie Cafe again. Cons: value, expensive more

"eerie" cafe 3/10/2003

The first time I went to the Erie Cafe, I thought my filet was over-cooked. I ordered my steak medium-rare but, the steak arrived medium-well. I didn't send it back and was disappointed with the taste which I attributed to the over-cooking. I tried the restaurant again some time later and again ordered a filet medium-rare. The steak was more rare than medium but still acceptable. The taste however, was not acceptable. The steak was very bland. The sides were okay but not impressive. It is ashame because the atmosphere great as is the location. I cannot recommend this restaurant. Pros: good atmosphere, good location Cons: poorly cooked steak, bland tasting steak more

  • In Short
A carnivorous crowd hangs out at this Gallery District steakhouse, which consists of a sunny front dining room and a brick-walled back room filled with a mostly male white-collar crowd. Toasted ravioli with blue cheese is a tempting starter on the Italian-influenced menu. For the main event, the petite filet mignon is paired with a heaping side of full-bodied lemon pepper-flavored broccoli. Gnocchi in tomato and basil sauce is a popular pasta dish.
