Gibson's is one of my favorite steakhouses in the city. The food is so good. I highly recommend the filet as well as the mashed potatoes. The desserts are out of this world - try the Muddy Bottom, which has oreo crust, ice cream and macadamia nuts. Definitely a fun place for dinner as well, with great people watching.
Pros: Great location, amazing steak, fabulous desserts
Cons: Long wait if you don't have reservations

My boyfriend and I ate here over the holiday weekend and even though the prices were a little high, the food was amazing!! The waiter we had doted on us all night long and even though it was pretty crowded we didn't feel like we got lost in the crowd, as you do with some other restaurants.
This is a great place to go eat when you want to splurge on a meal but it is expensive for 2 when you have drinks and a full meal.
It is a MUST to try while in Chicago.
Cons: price

I was wowed after dinner at N9ne with co-workers! We had dinner this past Monday night and were pleasantly surprised to learn that it was half-price bottle of wine night, that was a bonus! We ordered appetizers which came out almost immediately! The calamari and rock shrimp are delicious! Although we were at a steakhouse, for some reason everyone at the table had seafood. Presentation on the plate, as well as the taste of these dishes were perfect. N9ne offers a very unique dessert menu with items ranging from cotton candy to smores. This is my new favorite restaurant in the city and I can't wait to go back!
Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Waitstaff
Cons: Kind of hard to find if you haven't been there before

Let me start with the best part: I ordered the filet medallions oscar and I COULD CUT IT WITH A BUTTER KNIFE! I have had meat that tender only one other time in my life. This was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Okay... now from the beginning...
We made reservations with 3 hours noticed and were seated at the time of our reservations. There wasn't much space to sit or gather but the host staff was very friendly and did offer the bar area for seating early. Our table was around the border of the dining room, which is square in shape with a raised border section over the lowered middle. We had a nice view of the bar and our table was perfect for 'people-watching'.
We each ordered flights of wine. I had the progressive and my fiance had the whites. The amount of wine in each glass was very generous - about a half a glass - and much more than the "shot" of wine that I have had in flights in the past. One of us had the barbecue chicken dish and the other had the filet medallions oscar. The medallions were SO tender and the portions were perfect. The filet was ordered rare, and a truly good rare seems to be hard to come by. Wildfire got it right. Other restaurants give you meat slightly well done and others seem to hand you something that isn't even warmed and somehow still frozen. This was a truly enjoyable cut and cooked filet.
The service was prompt. Nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. Just good, courteous service staff.
For me personally, I will go back again for one of the best steaks I've ever had.
Pros: location, price (relative), generous flights of wine, ambience, try the filet
Cons: few seats in the greeting area

This Seafood restaurant combines both Asian and American influences in the meals. The food is delicious! The Grilled Hawaiian Prawns and the Scallops were scrumptious! The zen garden is amazing for a romantic setting and the service is top of the line! A perfect place for a date or a group of friends!

July 25, 2009 My wife and I dined at Shaw’s Crab House Sat night, and it was fantastic. We have eaten out at a lot of seafood restaurants, and we can honestly say that Shaw’s (either Chicago or Schaumburg) still has it going on, and is top of our list for consistent, quality seafood and shellfish. The food is always prepared right, with great service, and the dining room is comfortable, where you can relax and enjoy your meal. Here was our dinner/all worthy selections: Start with their hand-shucked dozen assortment of oysters (Chicago Magazine just voted “the best” oysters), then their famous jumbo lump crabmeat crabcake (North Shore magazine voted “best crabcake”), then their wonderful Lobster Bisque soup, then split an order of their steamed Alaskan King Crab legs with side of melted butter, then try the in-season special, three delicious soft shell crabs sautéed in lemon, garlic butter, all with great veggie sides, and end it all with Key Lime Pie and Homers Peppermint Ice Cream with Hot Fudge sauce. Hot Intelligentsia coffee drinks and specialty tea capped it all off, and we were very happy. Shaw’s has the seafood dining experience down to a perfect science.
Pros: Shellfish, seafood, service

We took our son to Hugo's as a special going away present the night before he left for China as an exchange student. I was looking at other steak/seafood houses based on internet searches and changed to Hugo's based upon a recommendation by the Concierge at out hotel and I am so glad we did.
Our waiter (Anthony) was the best waiter we have ever had at any restaurant. We never felt rushed (and the menu was extensive so it took awhile to order). The Lobster Bisque was the best soup we have ever had, the mustard/dill sauce for the salmon was fantastic, the crab cakes were really lump crab and not filler, and the steaks were fantastic (they come from their sister restaurant Gibson's).
The most expensive restaurant I have ever been to but we also ordered more than usual because it was a special event. Glad we made reservations or we could not have gotten in until after 9:00 (Friday night). Hugo's will be a destination for us whenever we travel to Chicago from now on.
Pros: Service and quality of food.

I have been to the Roy's in Hawaii and its great to see them in Chicago. This is an excellent spot to take your date and have a lovely meal - start with their Original Hawaiian Martini for your drink, pick the seafood of your choice (everything I have tried is fabulous!) and finish with Roy's Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé (it takes 20 mins, so its best to pre-order the dessert). Enjoy!
Pros: Excellent Food, Best Hot Melting Chocolate Soufflé in Town!
Cons: Make Reservations Ahead - their bar area tends to be crowded
