GREAT whole food market 12/31/2005

I love small businesses so when on the lookout for healthy options I frequent Ellwood Thompsons -- somehow they manage to have fair prices, great selection, a wonderful atmosphere and do it all with only the one storefront. Ellwood Thompsons is located in at the beginning of Cary Street so you can relax and spend your day out after having a real healthy snack or you can drop in for groceries. Rest assured that what you find will be the healthiest available items. more

Good gourmet, organic produce and wine 12/16/2005

Ellwood Thompson's offers the best array of organic produce and specialty "natural" gourmet products in the city. They have really filled this niche well in Richmond. However, if you need alternative specialty items for food sensitivities, allergies, celiac disease, or other medical conditions, you will not find a very broad selection at Ellwood Thompson's - for that, you should go to Good Foods Grocery. more

Nice 11/28/2005

This is a very nice natural food/product store. There is a very large selection for such a small store. The produce is very fresh and they have a nice bakery selection. There are also several organic options. The location is a little awkward to get to but worth the effort. Some of the staff are a little tree-huggerish...but then so are some of the patrons. If you are looking for a nice small natural food market then this is a place to check out. It's much better than Ukrops small collection of natural and organic foods. more

Need to keep up with competetion 9/7/2005

I really like Elwood Thompson. Everything there is organic and natural. But I'm vegetarian on the verge of being vegan and they need to keep up witht he competetion. True, they have tons of veg foods, but so does Kroger's. And Kroger's is closer to my house. I wish that as a "Natural Foods" store they would have different and more choices for me than the average grocery store. Today's market for vegeatarian's is growing and so should Elwood Thompson's. ] I mean, I just got back from Poland last week and they had cooler options for me than ET. In Poland I was able to get a Soy Feta Spread. In Poland! Come on ET, keep up. more

Great natural and organic products 8/21/2005

If you’re into natural and organic products then this is the place to shop. The store is huge and offers everything you’ll need for taking care of yourself and your family. They have packaged organic foods, homeopathic medications for adults and children, and organic baby food products. If your child has allergies Ellwood’s is a necessity! The staff is awesome, always ready to help and explain their products, and point you towards products you’re looking for. more

Perfect...just PERFECT! 8/17/2005

This is the best health and organic food store I have ever been to! I go here all the time for breakfast, lunch and dinner! They have a great selection of very good muffins and scones for breakfast. For lunch they have fresh sushi. And for dinner they have a nice sized cooking area where you can buy all sorts of fresh cooked food and maby wash it down with some great Saki! They have a nice seating area in the front and outside. The people that work there are some of the coolset peope in the world. Perfect ten here! Elwood Thompson's: 1,000,000/10 more

Variety 8/12/2005

Shopping here always feels like a great adventure,there is always something new to try. They carry a wide variety of goods, including produce,meats,wine,and health and beauty items,among other things. It is a fairly large store,but there is always someone around if you need help,and not a lot of long lines to stand in.This is a great place to go if you want to check out some great natural foods and products. more

Healthy Foods 7/13/2005

This grocery store has something for everyone. The regular groceries you need as well as the health food/organic foods. Whether you are shopping for preparing your own meals or you are picking up something for "carry-out" from their deli, you will be delighted with the quality. There are also many unusual items which are worth trying as well. They do have a small section where you can sit and eat your purchases as well. It is located in Carytown. more
