New location! 4/18/2006

Earl's is now located between NE 43rd and NE 45th on the Ave, in the old All-American space (good riddance to the A-A). Earl's has a bit of a seedy atmosphere, tends to be pretty crowded, and the staff can be short-tempered (don't tap your pool cues on the floor...).Having said that, the food is delicious and reasonably priced (vegetarian friendly) and they have a good selection of alcohol at good prices. I'd say it's a good place to go in mid-to-late afternoon; the couple of times I've been by in the evenings it's been crowded and not so pleasant. more

Get drunk for cheap! 3/15/2006

I swear, if you want to get shelacked in Seattle for less than $10, go to Earls. 90% Vodka, 10% cranberry. The Vodka's bad, but what do you expect? Great place to go if you want to be around a bunch of hammered college kids. more

Earl's on the Ave-Great Food, Great Prices 10/1/2005

Whenever we go on the "Ave" we always hit up Earls. They have the greatest specials. 3.00 for 1/2 pound burger and fries, it doesn't get any better than that. It's also a very friendly environment, I always feel comfortable in there. They have great hot wings too, and cheap pitchers of PBR. Enjoy more

I'll have a little coke with my rum 8/19/2005

Earl's is well known for their generous alcohol content in their mixed drinks. Though it is one of the biggest dives on the ave, and the carpet in the back is downright scary, the place has a certain charm about it. It can be quite crowded on a weekend night, so go early and get tanked before heading to more expensive places. more

Editorial
  • The Scene
Graduate students come down from the ivroy tower for the congenial atmosphere at Earl's. While it's true that regulars dominate the bar and lounge, and packs of fraternal college students have been known to roam the game area, Earl's is always friendly to newbies. With such a positive attitude, and no frills decor, it's already easy to enjoy yourself--but the stiff drinks make it even easier.

    The Draw
Earls features a menu of standard pub grub with decent burgers and all things fried, but this bar is mainly a drinker's bar. Sticking to drinks isn't difficult, however, when you consider the price (cheap) and the potency (off the charts). A Maker's Mark Manhattan straight up is almost too stiff to swallow, while Long Island Ice Teas are notoriously large and intoxicating. There are only four beers on tap, but who needs the stuff when two gin and tonics go for less than $7?
