Worst lunch I ever had. 9/27/09 9/28/2009

My family came in for lunch, waitress took our order. About 10 minutes later she came by to tell us our lunch would be ready in 5 minutes. After 30 minutes, we started to notice that the customers that had come in after us were being served first. My husband (diabetic) needed to eat, I waived her down and ask for some bread and what the problem was. ""The kitchen is running behind. Well after 35 minutes of waiting my family received their meal. I took 1 bite of my hamburger and it was raw inside, it was supposed to be medium well. At this point I was so frustrated I called her over and told her I was not going to pay for my lunch because it was raw and I found dark hair in my fries. No manager ever came over to apologize or anything. I do NOT recommend. Cons: horrible customer service more

Sweet little cafe in the heart of tourist central. 11/20/2007

This great find popped up when we least expected it. Really nice staff, very comfortable cafe right at the foot of Pier 39. We finished breakfast very satisfied and filled to our gills with fantastic food. Our simple egg/bacon/potato/pancake breakfast started our day right. They gave us generous portions of perfect bacon, the potatoes were great (red potatoes sauteed with green peppers and onions), and the pancakes nice and fluffy. Nice small feel to the place and there is a great view of the bay with Alcatraz dead center. Pros: Views, friendly staff, quality breakfast. Cons: Not cheap, but the quality makes the food worth it. more

Best pancakes ever! 6/7/2007

A friend & I recently ate breakfast at this cute little Wharf restaurant & had a really good time. My friend ordered banana pancakes with brown sugar & pecans (which tasted like the center of a good piece of banana bread) & I got strawberry pancakes with fresh strawberries on top. Both pancakes had the fruit baked into them. So yummy! We ended up going again the next day for both breakfast & dinner. The wait staff were very friendly & the prices were pretty good considering the huge amount of food they give you (we would eat breakfast very early & not be hungry again until 3 or 4pm). more

Re-modeled Place now has amazing food too! 4/20/2006

I've been going to the old Eagle Cafe for years, and have always enjoyed it. They recently re-modeled the restaurant, and it looks great. Windows all around, with views of the pier, alcatraz, coit tower...best of all, they revamped the entire menu, and the food is now amazing, and portions are huge, and well worth the price. My boyfriend and I had the Crab, oyster platter, and linguini. Shared everything, and had to take more then half of it home...portions are BIG!! While the wait for the food is a little more then your average restaurant, it's well worth the wait. Pros: great food, great views, good service Cons: wait more

Food and Serice were awesome 1/11/2006

I came because the other restaurants were full, and I was hungry. Boy did this place surprise me. I had the Seafood Combo, and it was perfect. It had serving sizes of fish, calamari, prawns, coleslaw and fries. Everything was breaded and fried perfectly. Ordered at the counter, and they brought my food out with a smile. It also had a great view of Alcatraz. Will definitely go again. Pros: great service, great food, awesome view Cons: somewhat hidden more

The ""real deal"" on Pier 39 6/28/2002

This is the one spot that is an authentic San Francisco institution, semi-hidden among all the touristy joints at Pier 39. I say semi-hidden, which it is, but it's just to your left and on the top level as you enter -- so it's not hard to find (just rather non-descript). Get a burger and a beer and relax away from the hordes of out-of-towners. And the prices are virtual bargains -- especially for down at the wharf. Pros: Free of tourists more
