Went to City Cafe before a show at the Lyric. Was sat quickly (had made reservations). It was Tuesday and 1/2 price bottle of wine day which was a nice suprise. Food was hot and ...

I am African American, I've come to this location several times before, and each time I come, I encounter snippy attitudes from the staff. This morning, December 15, 2007, I order...

Great neighborhood coffee joint and more 4/15/2006

This is a great little coffee joint and restaurant. The prices are a little high and service can be spotty. But if you're looking for a great place to people watch, catch up on conversation or even just be engrossed in your laptop, the City Cafe is a great place. They showcase local art on the walls, and the location is a former car dealership. The food is very good - love their salads. Great brunch. more

Delicious but pricey food 3/28/2006

The City Cafe's greatest draw is the very cool atmosphere that it has. It is a great place to grab a cup of coffee and sit down and write, study, socialize, or watch the world pass by. It also has great food if you want something more substantial than coffee, but unfortunately, it's pretty expensive. The portions are large and there's enough for two, so in some ways that makes it slightly less inaffordable. more

City Cafe 9/14/2005

The City Cafe offers good food if you are willing to pay for it. I guess the owners figure everyone in Mt Vernon makes lots of money so they charge too much. It's the place to be seen...at least for now. It is good for dropping by for a cup coffee and one of their yummy desserts. The dessert case will make you drool! more

Best Brunches 8/19/2005

Here you get everything for everyone. Perfect for Partys or birthdays too. The cocktails here are just too good. The menu here has all the variety of food like pasta, seafood , coffee bar, cocktail bar. Its just the cafe where in you get everything you want and satisfies different people tastes. Lively environment and good service adds up to the dine. Seafoods charms me a lot, which I prefer at City Cafe. Go once, u will definately turn second time. more

Pros and Cons 8/15/2005

Cafe Cafe used to be one of the best places in Mt. Vernon to enjoy a cup of coffee and/or have dinner. The food was of high quality and average price. However, the food quality seems to have diminished and the price has sky rocketed. A simple lunch sandwich is going to run you around $12. If you are like me and eat out frequently, this can easily kill your budget. However, i do enjoy having a cup of coffee and eating pastries. Their cakes are homemade and offer some very good selections. Also a nice feature of City Cafe is the space. They decorate the facility with local art work, which is for sale. Also, Cite Cafe is in the heart of Mt. Vernon and the sites and sounds are enjoyable. If i do eat their, I tend to do Sunday Brunch and get one of their omelets. But again, because of the price, this is only on rare occasions. more
