Bay 13 Restaurant

Another failure. Pros: service Cons: food,price more

Went to Bay 13 with my girlfriend a few weeks after it opened. Walked in and looked like it was very well done! Drinks were stiff and the servers were friendly. People were dressed like they were from NYC (which is out of character for Portland) but I dig it. Then came the food... BAD. For the price I was expecting well-cut high quality sashimi. The quality was decent but it was cut into these long thin rectangles I swear the salmon looked like carrot sticks. Only about 8 pieces total. Obviously the ""sushi chefs"" were not well-trained. But what can you expect, it's Port-town. Then came the ""fish stew""... BAD. Looked like sewage. Just kidding, it looked fine but tasted very ordinary. Very reminiscent of Paragon... great atmosphere, but mediocre food. Come here to mingle and drink, but THAT'S IT!! Pros: Ambience, Decor, Drinks Cons: Food more

I'll start by saying there is nothing wrong with Bay 13. The setting is pretty, the servers are friendly, and the drinks are strong. Judging by the crowd of good looking people that are already gathering there, it'll probably become the next hot spot in the Pearl. It's just nothing special or unique. But, if you're a Paragon and/or Portland City Grill kinda guy/gal than you'll probably love it. I just think that there are many other Portland hot spots that set the bar just a bit higher.
