a bookstore with a challenge 7/22/2005

bailey-coy has a new quote in front of their store every day. if you correctly identify it, you get a 20% discount on any book in their store. i think this is a wonderful way to encourage business and the quotes are from a variety of books. the store itself contains an incredible selection of books. so this leaves me bugging all my friends while standing in front of the store and trying to guess today's quote. more

Just Right 7/4/2005

There's this size thing with bookstores. Sure, I love going down to the superstore and browsing 8 titles on Star Wars theme origami, but it's not my preferred bookstore experience. Nope, I'd rather feel like I'm talking a stroll through a discerning reader's personal library, getting their comments on the various titles and ruminating over a selection. Bailey Coy gives me that feeling. more

Great Capitol Hill bookstore 6/28/2005

Bailey Coy has a great selection of fiction and nonfiction titles, especially those that aren't necessarily aimed at the masses. With so few bookstores surviving these days, it's great to see a high quality independent bookstore sticking around. You might not get the same discounts that large booksellers can offer, but you will get knowledgeable staff, a top notch selection of quality books, and the satisfaction of knowing that you're supporting a locally owning independent bookstore. more

Bountiful Books 5/24/2005

Bailey-Coy is an excellent independent book seller. The staff is always helpful. If a book isn't in stock, it can be ordered. They also have readings and a good, if small, selection of magazines. Knowing the quote of the day is a great way to get 10% off of your book. They also sell leftovers at ridiculously low prices. Gift wrapping is free. more
