Great Italian! 5/7/2006

This is a great find - yummy, authentic Italian food that goes beyond just the basics. The gorgonzola raviolis are great and I love the house special risotto - nice and creamy with great flavor. The service is always excellent - warm and fun in the "Italian" way - and the prices are moderate. It can get crowded on the weekends! more

A family owned Italian restaurant in Belltown. I love this place. It is reasonably priced and the service has always been excellent. It tends to be very busy, even around lunchtime so it is usually a good idea to have a reservation. I highly recommend the gorgonzola raviolis or there specialty risotto. Always good! more

Congratulations! You've found the most amazing dining experience 2/26/2006

I've passed by Assaggio nearly every morning as I walk to my office, and think to myself, "I need to go there soon." How I kicked myself that I hadn't been sooner. I grew up as an Army brat and lived in Italy for several years. I've longed for an authentic Italian dining experience - not just wonderful food, but fun, attentive service as well. The owner roams the restaurant mingling with the tables. Not in an overbearing, managerial "...is everything alright" way, but in a truly concerned that you're enjoying your meal context. The servers are amazing, and seem to be one step ahead of the game at all times. And then there's the food. The wonderful, succulent food. I had the veal (Osso Buco) and my girlfriend enjoyed the Pochetta. Both meals were prepared to perfection, and presented beautifully. Add to it the price is comparable to what one would pay at a nation chain steak house, and the total package is set. more

The best service in Seattle 8/17/2005

Assaggio Ristorante not only has incredible food, but the service is impeccable as well. For this level of service and quality of food downtown they could easily charge twice as much, but the prices are completely reasonable. Every time we've visited Assaggio, the owner has been in the restaurant greeting patrons. On only our second visit, the waiter remembered what we had to drink and what we liked food wise. He was able to make outstanding recommendations based on only one previous visit. The owner remembered the exact vintage of wine preferred by the table next to us, and made an additional recommendation based on their tastes. I cannot get over how refreshing it is to find this level of service in the Northwest. I had given up hope entirely, but walking into this little restaurant right downtown makes you feel like you've stepped into little italy. more
