Editorial review from Citysearch 3/16/2013

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE\r Our horrible experience started at the door. We made a reservation but the people who arrived after us who did NOT have a reservation (we overheard them say) were seated before us. The hostess then told us that it was their 12th anniversary party and they had $12 bottles of wine. However, when our server came she stated that because we had a Groupon we could not use it. A Groupon is, in essence, a gift card...so because we had a gift card we could not use it??? Horrible. We ordered a bottle of wine anyway only to wait 10+ minutes for it. Then, we ordered our food which came quickly (only positive) but my dish was horrible. Not even something I could stomach...I could not eat another bite. My husband's was mediocre. Now the worst part? Our server did not come back for 20+ minutes. Our water glass stayed empty and she did not come back once to ask if we needed anything. On top of that, she smelled SO strongly of perfume it was nauseating. Just HORRIBLE. more

Our new favorite Italian 9/30/2011

My father was in town and my wife and I needed to take him and my aunt and uncle to a nice quiet place. This was it! Our server, Zorida, was so nice and helpful. My dad had a lot of questions about the menu and she knew it all! The food was great- the guys had pizzas and the girls had pastas- all were clean plates. My wife embarrassed me to announce it was my birthday and next thing I knew I was getting a giant piece of some of the best tiramasu ever! I can't wait to go back when it is just my wife and I- it seems like a great romantic date spot! more

Great food and fantastic service! 9/3/2011

I went into Arezzo for the first time this evening with my husband for our anniversary. The food was amazing! I had had the gnocchi, super light and fluffy the way it should be, probably the best I've ever had. My husband had the fish special which was cooked to perfection and very tasty. The atmosphere was really nice and romantic. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and made fantastic suggestions for us. This was our 10 year anniversary and I can't imagine it being more special. We had a great time! Thank you! more

Disappointing 8/28/2011

Oh, how I wish I loved this restaurant. Great location, reasonably nice ambiance. The food is pretty tasty - nothing out of this world, and certainly not as good as Broders down the street. Service, in a word, stinks. Expect to wait 45 minutes for your food (even when seated early with about 4 other tables in use). Don't expect to see your waiter the entire meal - unless you flag them down in desperation. Don't count on refilled water or soda glasses. In fact, just plan on being ignored and over-charged for pleasant tasting food. The icing on the cake was when they ""boxed"" some left-over pizza by throwing it upside down haphazardly in a styro container. Seriously? Ugh. I'll take Macaroni Grill over this place (and that's saying a lot). more

Great Atmosphere. Excellent Service. Best Pizza Ever. 4/2/2011

My wife and I just went to Arezzo for a late lunch today. We had heard good things, and I've got to say, it was even better than the hype. The atmosphere was welcoming and romantic, and given the time, not many people were there. We split the arugula prosciutto pizza and a stuffed chicken dish (both specials). The chicken was fantastic, perfectly done and very flavorful, but the pizza was probably the best we've ever had--and we've had pizza in Venice, Florence, and Rome (and Pizza Lola--now our 2nd favorite Minneapolis pizza). Both of us used to wait tables, so we're very sensitive to service, and the service at Arezzo was excellent. I can't wait to go back and try some of the homemade pasta I've heard so much about. I think we may have found a new favorite restaurant! more

Nice Atmosphere...Average Food 10/3/2010

We dined at Arrezo on Saturday. We were disappointed with the quality of the food. While the atmosphere was nice, the place was busy and our waiter was good, we were surprised by the quality of the pasta based on the reviews we'd read. We didn't order appetizers choosing instead to have the flat bread with olive oil. It was good with the bread having a good flavor. I ordered the penne with tomtao and garlic sauce and added chicken. Boy was I disappointed! Prego has much better flavor than what I ordered! My wife ordered the tagliatelle with chicken and pine nuts. While the dish had a good flavor, there weren't any pine nuts to be found. Overall, while the atmosphere was good, the food was average. more

Excellent Food. Excellent Atmosphere! 9/19/2010

Although this restaurant is small, it packs a loud taste punch. more

Great AAAAA++++++ 8/15/2010

Since the place shares my last name, I had to travel to Edina and try this ristorante. I was able to bring my son and his girl friend. The next hour or so was an unbelievable experience for the three of us. The food was incredible and the service was superb. I can't wait to travel back from northern MN. and bring more of my relatives to enjoy the food and service. more

Was the chef on break? The manager was.... 8/2/2010

The halibut dinner came about 25 minutes after ordering--it took that long for the chef to overcook the meat. We were unable to cut into the top of the seafood with a steak knife. The halibut looked more like a bread roll than a fish filet. The ""carmelized"" onions actually crunched when we cut them with a fork. Cons: Bad food, bad service on a Saturday night more

5 Stars - The Real Deal!! 10/8/2009

This place is the most authentic Italian restaurant in the entire Twin Cities, not the mention that it?s also quite romantic and has the best wine list around. If you looking for the real deal, try Arezzo. Pros: The Best Italian food, wine list, romantic Cons: Busy place go before 6 or after 8 more

Fabulous Restaurant 12/9/2008

This was my first time at Arezzo. This place was recommended by a friend. I didn't make a reservation, but went early on a Saturday (5 p.m.). Lovely and prompt service. The place got busy between 6-7 p.m., but our service didn't deteriorate. Appetizers were clamari (that was melt-in-your-mouth tender) and spinach in olive oil, garlic and pine nuts. Just enough garlic to flavor the spinach, but not overpower the dish. My entree was a pork loin chop stuffed with apples, italian ham and cheese on top of garlic mashed sweet potato and a cream sauce. Wonderful! Portion was exceptional, very filling, tender and moist. For dessert, three of us share the tiramisu. It was a huge portion. Although it was delicious, we couldn't finish it. This wasn't ""done up"" tiramisu, (I've had tiramisu at other gourmet Italian restaurants where they put orange zest in the dessert, which overpowered the dish). This was the traditional, well done tiramisu! This fine fare was priced right. Nice restaurant for friends, family or dates. Pros: great wait staff, easy parking in back or on street more

Great Authentic Italian 8/16/2008

I love this place. I have been a manager with a small local italian restaurant company, and Arezzo was always on my shortlist of restaurants to watch. Always authentic Italian, not the waterdowned Olive Garden Variety, and cozy but a place you would expect to find on Restaurant Row off Broadway in New York. more

Always a Great Time!!! 3/11/2008

My husband and I always have a great time and wonderful food at Arezzo! We stopped in last weekend and tried the Ravioli on the specials with sea bass and shrimp. It was amazing! My husband really enjoyed his salmon, but he always does (orders it every time). We look forward to having my sister-in-law's birthday there soon. She loves Tiramisu and I think Arezzo has the best. Pros: Consistently Good Food more

Best Pizza & Fresh Pasta !! 3/11/2008

I have never written a review for any Restaurant before but I do read them on occasion. Arrezzo in my opinion is the best Italian Restaurant by far in the Twin Cities. From there fresh pasta that is made everyday to the perfect Neopolitan style pizza it is our families favorite restaurant. The only reason why I make my opinion known is because I saw 4 bad reviews all within 1 day of each other, obviously one table of customers are on a mission to get some attention from the restaurant. Why not just ask for the manager and get it straightened out rather than to air your dirty laundry for everyone to see? This Restaurant is a hidden jewel in the Twin Cities! Pros: Incredible food Cons: No full bar more

Wow 2/12/2008

We first came to try the pizza on a recommendation from a friend. We've been back several times and ordered just about everything on the menu. My wife loves the fact that (in stark contrast to most other restaurants) their dishes are not doused with oils and sauces, which lets the incredients really come to life. The pasta dishes have been great, and again, the pizza is absolutely terrific. My only complaint is the summer traffic can be annoying if you are dining outside. more

Finally...true Italian!!!! 6/15/2007

My fellow reviewer guzzirider said it all. I too am 100% Italian and only ate authentic food my entire childhood. Arezzo dishes bring me back to dinner and my Nonna's! She too was from Northern Italy and Arezzo get's it. Thank you thank you, thank you! All dishes are great, the gnocci is very good, the risotto is perfect, ahh I love it all. I also love to order the fetuccini and sausage pasta dish yet substitude penne for the fetuchini. Great stuff. Pros: Excellent Italian food, choices, specials, location Cons: Parking...some times more

Great Italian Food 3/25/2007

I went to Arezzo for an anniversary, the food was fantastic and unlike many Italian restaurants I got what I paid for. The Restaurants looks were very appealing and other than some of the tables being a little close together, it had a romantic setting. Overall a great place to go on a date and enjoy some great food. Pros: Great Food, Good Atmosphere Cons: Server did not pay much attention to our table more

Best Authentic Italian 6/23/2006

Great food, intimate setting, real Italian food made by Italians. Pros: Great Authentic Italian Cons: limited parking more

True Italian Experience? This is it! 5/8/2006

After having traveled to Italy, I have to say this is the closest dining experience I have had in the Twin Cities. Italians make an occasion out of a meal, it is not the quick in and out of most American restaurants. Thus for those reviewers that were complaining about the slow service, I think this was more because they were expecting a typical American experience. They were very helpful with wine selections, questions about the menu and making accomodations as necessary. As to the food, it was excellent. Nothing was ""bland"" in my opinion and all of the ingredients were fresh (yes, especially the tomatoes). Though it may not be the best Italian I have had in the cities, it is pretty darn close. The wine recommendation was superb (so much so that we went out and bought a case of the wine after our experience). Pros: Food, Experience, Authenticity Cons: Hard to gt table more
